Another meangingless HR. This time by A-Row. Pumping his numbers as always.
-
Meaningless HR. At least PK has 200. I didn't even know he was close.

QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:34 PM) But he has posted on this board, so he should be on the team. Yep. He's a bonafide superstar. KW's blocking him from starting his HOF career.
-
QUOTE(Jake @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:32 PM) Potential is a dangerous word. Tell me about it. Just ask the Bulls about potential.

What the hell was Ozuna doing out there?

QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) I got into the car today, and they were saying how great the White Sox comeback was last night? Did I miss something? Did we not blow a 4 run lead in that game? I heard the same thing and just laughed.
-
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:26 PM) Why, if Hawk thinks the Sox might get him, he'll "slurp" him. It's when he doesn't praise him is when I think there's no chance of a deal. Whenever Hawk or DJ mention something, something negative happens. When someone is on a hitting streak, Hawk or DJ will mention it and that day their hitting streak will be over. They'll talk about A-Row's average with RISP with the bases loaded and 1 out and he'll GIDP. Whatever they say, the worst happens. Expect us not to Griffey and a possible injury to him tommorow.
-
Hawk slurping Ken Griffey Jr. saying he knows him and Frank didn't take steroids. Sounds like he's campaigning for him. That pretty much means he's not coming to me.
-
QUOTE(Dick Allen @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:14 PM) Bring back Magglio. Hell Tony Graffinino in the 3 spot would be a godsend for this team. That's how bad our hitting is. I hope KW is taking note.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 07:12 PM) LMFAO, yeah Jon has looked sooooooooo much better than Mark against the Red Sox I hope you don't care who flames you because your whole premise is crap. I don't. I was obviously wrong. We have no one who can shut them down. Our pitching is overrated. Probably because of the poor offenses we faced in our own division. It's obvious our pitching isn't as good as advertised. All I know is that come playoff time, I wouldn't bet on a White Sox advancement. -
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:57 PM) How about this we can change the adage... Great pitching can beat great hitting....but medicore pitching can shut down the sox. I mean when we struggle to score against the yankees and their stud pitching staff, we have problems with studs like Joel Pinero, Josh Towers and the rest of the Cy Young staff we have been facing this month. Maybe we can hope that our staff completely shuts down the oppo in the playoffs to give us a chance. Took the words out of my mouth. It's not only good pitching, it's mediocre to horrible pitching shutting us down.
-
QUOTE(JimH @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:54 PM) Right, this one game disproves that age old adage. Hey isn't it true if you call up a guy after Sept 1 vs. before Sept. 1, it doesn't count as a year against their service time? Does anyone think that maybe that's why Brian Anderson isn't up here yet? Any takers? It's been several games. Outside of 1 game against this team, the pitching hasn't been so stellar against this team. As far as Sept1 callups, I think if you call up someone prior, you start their clock. After Sept 1, I don't think time is taken away.
-
QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 06:50 PM) "Ace" You're right. We have no ace. Hopefully they'll just call the game instead of letting this onslaught continue. We would've just gotten a meaningless run in the 9th. End this game so we won't have to be put through s***. So much for good pitching beating good hitting.
-
Game over, flip flip flip...
-
It's so sad. Their weakest hitter would be our best hitter.
-
Okay now I'm really scared for our World Series lives. Two best guys going to the bump and they both lose. Our offense isn't giving us anything tonight. Just horrible.
-
Overrated.
-
Both are good. 2nd one is great.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Haha....STILL ....IU, UI, KU > USC Those 3 teams are all on TV more than USC will ever be. I don't think I've ever seen a USC game on TV. I know I won't minus a couple games on CBS and the Pac-10 Tourny. I agree IU, UI, & KU are all better, but this is Brandon Rush we're talking about. I don't see him going to Illinois. It's a shame because he's a talented player. If he goes to KU, he'll be out faster than JR Giddens was. IU, I don't know about. If Mike Davis were to be fired after the season though, he probably would transfer out in a jiffy. -

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) If you read the article, USC is not in his top 3. I read it, but it seems that he would go there. Why? Because it's not that hard of a school to get into and I think they play in the Pac-10 which is a major conference. That means TV time for him(especially with Tim Floyd there) and a better shot to get his name out there to NBA scouts. Wherever he goes, it can't be hard for him academically, else he'll fall faster than Imari Sawyer. -
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I wouldn't pay 12000 bucks more for it. In fact I woudln't pay 3000 more for it which is about what it costs now to get a hybrid. Financially it doesn't make sense cause unless you drive a total assload, its going to take way too long to ever reclaim the savings. ^^What he said.

I see him going to a Kansas or USC. Anyway, I heard the guy is as dumb as bricks and that's why Oklahoma didn't want him anymore. Academically I heard he probably wouldn't have made it at Illinois either. -
QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I really don't think the Borchard to Young comparison is as far off as you make it out to be. In case you don't remember, Borchard was our number one rated prospect for a long time, and was considered a Can't Miss type of guy. Yep. It's not that far off. Young isn't even considered our best prospect. He's viewed as a guy with some of the most potential in the organization, but it's not even a sure thing he's going to reach it.

QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) That's fair. But it's f***tarded the argument that is trying to be presented that Buehrle's not an ace. If Buehrle's not an ace, no pitcher in baseball is an ace. He's not. True aces include, Peavy, Santana, Mulder, Hudson, Halladay, Oswalt, Clemens, Schmidt(when healthy), Johnson(when healthy), Schilling(when healthy), Garland, Livan Hernandez, Colon, Harden. Those guys are aces. They're all great pitchers and have no problems taking out elite teams. It's all the same for them. For Buehrle it's not. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) BUT HE LOST TO THE RED SOX AND THE YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!! And A's 3 times IIRC, and Minny. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) I know you're just copying what nite's saying, but I don't know why or what's his reasoning to bring the Yankees into this. The last times Buehrle saw the Yanks was in April of 2004. He split those games FWIW. And he got smacked around in one of those games giving up something like 7 or 8 runs in the first 2 innings.
