White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
Okay now I'm really scared for our World Series lives. Two best guys going to the bump and they both lose. Our offense isn't giving us anything tonight. Just horrible.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:58 PM) Haha....STILL ....IU, UI, KU > USC Those 3 teams are all on TV more than USC will ever be. I don't think I've ever seen a USC game on TV. I know I won't minus a couple games on CBS and the Pac-10 Tourny. I agree IU, UI, & KU are all better, but this is Brandon Rush we're talking about. I don't see him going to Illinois. It's a shame because he's a talented player. If he goes to KU, he'll be out faster than JR Giddens was. IU, I don't know about. If Mike Davis were to be fired after the season though, he probably would transfer out in a jiffy.

Blue-chip recruit Rush visits Indiana
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:41 PM) If you read the article, USC is not in his top 3. I read it, but it seems that he would go there. Why? Because it's not that hard of a school to get into and I think they play in the Pac-10 which is a major conference. That means TV time for him(especially with Tim Floyd there) and a better shot to get his name out there to NBA scouts. Wherever he goes, it can't be hard for him academically, else he'll fall faster than Imari Sawyer.

Would you buy a plug-in hybrid?
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I wouldn't pay 12000 bucks more for it. In fact I woudln't pay 3000 more for it which is about what it costs now to get a hybrid. Financially it doesn't make sense cause unless you drive a total assload, its going to take way too long to ever reclaim the savings. ^^What he said.

I see him going to a Kansas or USC. Anyway, I heard the guy is as dumb as bricks and that's why Oklahoma didn't want him anymore. Academically I heard he probably wouldn't have made it at Illinois either.

Nightengale's Griffey/ Sox update
QUOTE(WSFAN35 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:30 PM) I really don't think the Borchard to Young comparison is as far off as you make it out to be. In case you don't remember, Borchard was our number one rated prospect for a long time, and was considered a Can't Miss type of guy. Yep. It's not that far off. Young isn't even considered our best prospect. He's viewed as a guy with some of the most potential in the organization, but it's not even a sure thing he's going to reach it.

White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:52 PM) That's fair. But it's f***tarded the argument that is trying to be presented that Buehrle's not an ace. If Buehrle's not an ace, no pitcher in baseball is an ace. He's not. True aces include, Peavy, Santana, Mulder, Hudson, Halladay, Oswalt, Clemens, Schmidt(when healthy), Johnson(when healthy), Schilling(when healthy), Garland, Livan Hernandez, Colon, Harden. Those guys are aces. They're all great pitchers and have no problems taking out elite teams. It's all the same for them. For Buehrle it's not. QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:55 PM) BUT HE LOST TO THE RED SOX AND THE YANKEES!!!!!!!!!!! And A's 3 times IIRC, and Minny. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:18 PM) I know you're just copying what nite's saying, but I don't know why or what's his reasoning to bring the Yankees into this. The last times Buehrle saw the Yanks was in April of 2004. He split those games FWIW. And he got smacked around in one of those games giving up something like 7 or 8 runs in the first 2 innings.

Nightengale's Griffey/ Sox update
QUOTE(SpringfieldFan @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 03:22 PM) OK let's hear it folks. What odds would you lay that the Sox get him. For or against the trade, what do you think? I say the odds are 60-40 the KW lands him. SFF Odds 1-100000. Not good at all IMHO. I'm all for the trade though. I want it to happen, but I know I'm getting my hopes up for nothing.

Nightengale's Griffey/ Sox update
QUOTE(SoxFan562004 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 02:29 PM) I think those guys aren't on the 40 man so they don't have to clear... is that right guys?? Rogo is. Basically that was my idea though. Give them Young, PTBNL and a lower tier prospect and after the season, give them Rogo.

I think he was telling the truth. I don't think he'll be traded though.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
QUOTE(SnB @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 12:47 PM) he's had a bad month and a half, period, no matter who he's played. But i'ms ure you'll say the same thing in like 5 other threads today too No I'll be discussing how Jon Garland has become the real ace of this team. Not being defeated by elite teams and finally has found out how to deal with pressure situations. Garland > Buehrle. I don't care who flames me either.

Nightengale's Griffey/ Sox update
QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 12:43 PM) FWIW, the Score's George Offman is reporting that Griffey Jr. cleared waivers. I doubt we get him. I want him here more than anyone, but Kenny won't give me Christmas in August.

Grossman's Season Basically Over
QUOTE(GBlum27 @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 12:41 PM) Well done. You gotta give JA some credit though, the man knows defense and he drafts decently to solidly. I'll give him credit for the Azumah extension way back when and for his later round selections but he's atrocious in the first round minus Tommie Harris.

Hot for Teacher
QUOTE(YASNY @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 04:08 AM) That kid is probably a legend among his classmates. A Legend for f***ing up a good thing by my watch. I'd punk the kid for doing something that stupid.

Grossman's Season Basically Over

Da Bears
I'll go with Hutch. He was pretty decent last year with no run game and a horrible O-Line. Imagine what he could do with a good running game and O-Line and a nice WR.
-
Grossman's Season Basically Over
Bears always win meaningless games at the end for "pride." This year will be no different. Even if they did have the worst record, they'd probably do a #1 for the #12 & a 3rd rounder. Then they'll say they could get a decent QB at that position(a bum like Cade McNown) and fill another whole(another Mike Haynes type). That's the Bears MO. I told people too that they should've either drafted Suggs or Leftwich(my preference) and they f'd that up. Just like they f'd up their chances for Culpepper. Why? Because the Bears front office has turned into a laughingstock in the league. If you're a mediocre to bad player, you'll probably get an extension from Angelo. It was funny watching Ditka saying that the Bears need to cut their losses because Quasim Mitchell can't block the left side at all. And then he went on to saying, "If I were the coach, he wouldn't be on this team, that's for sure." He ripped him more, but I just remember those two parts in particular.

Nightengale's Griffey/ Sox update
QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Aug 13, 2005 -> 09:58 AM) The more I think about it, the more I would be angry if they dealt Chris Young in a package. Now Gio would be another story. I'd give up Gio and a mid tier prospect or two. You have to give up something to get something. Young won't be contributing to this team. Griffey would. Not everyone is the Pittsburgh Pirates. They won't take complete crap in return for a very nice player.

The Continuing Decline & Fall of Mark Buehrle
I just got finished reading the thread. I agree. Having a career year and doing it against teams in low pressure situations.

Are the White Sox Lucky or Good?
Lucky. But we haven't had a World Series Ring here for a while. I don't give a damn about how you get it done, just make sure you get it done.

White Sox vs Red Sox - 8/13/05
QUOTE(3 BeWareTheNewSox 5 @ Aug 12, 2005 -> 11:02 PM) Ownt. I'd say give up since there's no convincing, but I don't see how he can still question MB being an ace after all these years, and the stats you posted help show how dumb his argument is. The bashers always only look at the negative stuff. Here's some stuff from this year. May 13th vs Baltimore. W - 8 IP , 3 ER, against the hottest team in the bigs at the time, and easily the best offensive team at the time. One of the 100 'must wins' that have been claimed this season to 'see how we would fair in the playoffs' May 18th vs Texas, W - 7.1 IP, 0 ER, another great offensive team. May 24th @ Anaheim, ND, 9 IP, 1 ER, Anaheim obviously good offensively, and impressive to do it at a West Coast team. May 30th vs Anaheim, ND, 8.1 IP, 3 ER, not bad for them seeing you for your last start. This was the famous Jeff Brantley/Memorial Day game. June 11th @ San Diego, W, 7.2 IP, 0 ER, maybe not the best offensive team, but they were the hottest in the NL at the time, and good again to do it at their ball park. What more can you ask for? I'd say the All Star Game is a preaty big game as well, must be doing well to start that too. Other honorable mentions are complete shutdowns of the offenses of Cleveland (even after facing them so much), Seattle, Dodgers, and KC, and another one at Baltimore that was ended early, but I didn't include them since they wouldn't be seen as big games since the offenses aren't top tier (Cleveland and Seattle's aren't too shabby though). Sure, there are bad games, just like other pitchers, including aces. Roger Clemens is rare, this stuff happens, and he just seems to be going through a little iffy stretch lately. I don't care, think what you think, I still trust MB, and it's nice to have Garland and Freddy to back him up just in case. All going to the playoffs, right??

Hot for Teacher
It's so sad. Plus he was getting A's too. I wouldn't have never told. I would've rode it out. Think of all the recommendations she could've wrote for high school's and stuff.
