  1. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:48 PM) I still say the play that showed how this team played tonight happened earlier. Crede has a close play at the plate, he should of plowed over the catcher. That would of energized our team more than anything. Not only does it show the twins we can play hard, but it shows that we are the new badass on the block. But crede slows down as he gets to the plate, then tries some around move and is tagged out by 3 feet. If he plowed over Mauer its a closer play and gives us a chance to score. That to me, was a big tell in this game. Crede has 2 herniated discs. He's still doing better than Blum. He has no business trying to plow over anybody. I'm not excusing his piss poor hitting, but would you rather see Blum or Crede at 3b? I say Crede.
  2. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:44 PM) Timo. Is. Trash. PK made a huge baserunning mistake. Conteras wasn't good. Just ugly Contreras was good enough to win with a halfway decent offense. His career ERA is somewhere between 4 and 5. You should expect that type of performance from Count. Plus the fact that Dye could've saved a run by gunning down a guy at home with a decent throw he's capable of, Count pitched pretty good today.
  3. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:18 PM) I'm a diehard Sox fan, but I'm also a baseball "expert". I'll say this (and I'm sure I'll be bashed): I have absolutely no clue how the Sox are 12 games up on the Indians, and 15 on the Twins. It's one of the most pleasant surprises I've ever had in sports, because this is not a great Sox team we're talking about. I 2nd that. Prepare for the flamers to come out.
  4. QUOTE(Kalapse @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:17 PM) HA! Ha what? I didn't say I wanted A-Row out of the lineup or out of CF. He's very solid in the OF, but he is not a gold glover IMHO. He's made nice plays for 3 games against the Yanks. He doesn't do that type of stuff every game which seperates good defensive OF's from GG'ers.
  5. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:14 PM) KGJ can't get here any sooner. Pitiful tonight. What are you talking about? We're the first place team in the league, blah blah blah, etc.
  6. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:15 PM) Hey man im with you but you just overloaded my brain thinking about that one. I am also not denying this team is playing like s*** since I have been saying it even when they do win. I see "I love this f***ing team" being posted so damn much and I don't see why. They do need to get their s*** straight. I agree strongly.
  7. QUOTE(Sox Hustler @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:11 PM) Oh god, please this is horrible. Lets take it one game at a time. How is it horrible? Did that not happen? It's horrible how so many people are blinded by the fast start and won't just admit s*** is going wrong with this team.
  8. QUOTE(ottawa_sox @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) If I'm making out tomorrow's lineup, this is what it looks like: Rowand CF Iguchi 2B Everett DH Konerko 1B Dye RF AJ C Anderson LF Crede 3B Uribe SS Unfortunately I think I saw that Timo has good numbers against Radke. :headshake I'd go with something similar.
  9. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:08 PM) I'll take em. SHould be a fun pitching match up to watch. How is it fun when you know our offense can't even score runs on Kyle Loshe??
  10. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:02 PM) Another crappy pitcher spotted a fastball on the outside corner, while hitter after hitter tried to park pitch after pitch into the stands. To beat this club, just spot a fastball on the outside corner and let the mopes do all the work for you. Radke will 3 hit us tomorrow night and Santana will 4 hit us on Wednesday with this lineup. Not even. Anything on the outside corner would have us beat, especially a breaking pitch. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:03 PM) It's not just the injuries that scare me. I don't think our talent level on offense is good enough to win the World Series. The scary thing now is that Everett and PK are on fire. Just imagine what it will be like when the middle of the order is struggling. That scares me too. Our offense even when clicking isn't good enough unless our pitching is clicking too.
  11. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 09:00 PM) I said this last night, and I'll repeat it again: KW needs to get an answer from the Reds about whether or not they'll ever trade Griffey Jr. during the season, no matter who's involved in the trade. If they say no, then he needs to move on to someone different. This team is not good enough to consistently win at home. I would've just said f it and taken the waiver on him because that may have been the only way we got him. Now that won't happen, we have injuries, pitching isn't nearly as good as what it was, hitting flat out sucks and some posters think everything is just fine and dandy.
  12. QUOTE(greasywheels121 @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:56 PM) Hawk can be wrong though. Remember in 2003 after the Sox made the Robby Alomar and Everett trades? Hawk claimed that there was going to be a deal made that was even bigger than those combined. Was that supposed to be Schoenweis? I doubt it. He's probably right about this though. Simply downplaying Griffey by saying "where would he play?" is flat out stupid and following with a statement that talks about how Pods makes us one of the best if not best defensive OF is just dumber than something Mariotti has ever wrote. Griffey on one leg is better than Pods in LF.
  13. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:38 PM) Give us a better option that Tadahito at lead off. He have nobody with a real good OBP now. May as well put someone there who can swing that bat and have good ABs. I'm not saying there are better options, but I'm not expecting good results out of him in that role. I'd think Rowand would have more success there. And it seems our boppers are all going to swing for the fences.
  14. f*** it, I'd take Corey Patterson right now. He'd probably be one of our best hitters. Then again, Greg Walker would get in his ear.
  15. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:35 PM) Ozzie said today that Iguchi would leadoff. I don't know how smart that is. That's taking his game a complete 180. He went from #3 slot power hitter in Japan last year to leadoff hitter who's just supposed to get on. Plus while he's good at moving runners over, I don't think he's that great at getting on base for other guys.
  16. QUOTE(Brian @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:30 PM) My line up tomorrow. Iguchi 2B Uribe SS Everett LF Konerko 1B Dye DH Rowand CF AJ C Anderson RF Crede 3B Mix and match Anderson, Dye, and Everett for OF or DH. It'll never happen. Iguchi really isn't a leadoff hitter at all. I think if Iguchi plays, you'll see Ozuna in the lineup to bat leadoff for him unless Timo's in the lineup.
  17. Make the cars look better and maybe I'll take a look at them.
  18. QUOTE(fathom @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:20 PM) I would love nothing more than for Timo to shut me up here. Keep yappin, cas he didn't shut you up.
  19. Too bad we couldn't do it.
  20. And a steal of 3rd base.
  21. QUOTE(Soxfest @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 07:56 PM) I do not understand Duhon love affair i would of let him go. Gordon is a one-dimensional player as of now. And outside of the 4th quarter, he is pretty much worthless. Duhon is a key for this team.
  22. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 08:10 PM) Which is entirely possible. Oh, and there's a vintage just-out-of-the-reach-of-defender Minnesota hit for Punto. --And a terrible scoop by Konerko on Mauer's bunt. Not only them, but Cleveland as well. But don't worry guys because we have the best record in the major leagues. I wonder what tune people will cry with after we lose it.
  23. Yeah keep talking about them. Pretty soon you'll stop worrying about other teams are start worrying about Boston passing us up in 1st place for the AL.
  24. Jesse Crain in = Rally Over.
  25. QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Aug 15, 2005 -> 07:47 PM) Expect the same 1-2 punch tomorrow against Radke. Timo hit's a HR off Radke once and he basically seals his placement in the lineup. Hopefully his career numbers actually warrant his addition. If they're anywhere like they are against Silva it's justified--i suppose. Against Santana, which I'm afraid to admit will likely be a loss with this offense, we'll probably see Ozuna in the leadoff position and (hopefully--if he's feeling better) Iguchi. May not see Anderson in this entire series unless there's a blowout or need for a RH pinch hitter. This probably will be the case.
