  1. QUOTE(mreye @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 12:25 PM) The Sox website says: U.S. Cellular Field Capacity – 40,615 I thought it was around 38,000 since they cut the upper deck off, but... Thanks. I wonder if we'll ever have that place packed to maximum capacity then. I mean, the playoffs for sure, but in the regular season when was the last time it was that completely filled when we weren't facing the Cubs or Yanks?
  2. Okay quick question. I've seen numbers all over the place(different numbers) saying that was a sellout at the Cell. Can anyone give me an exact number of what a sellout really is? In other words, what's the maximum capacity?
  3. Don't forget that Donyell Marshall agreed to terms with Cleveland.
  4. QUOTE(rangercal @ Jul 19, 2005 -> 08:58 AM) If people want to do the wave in between innings fine. Not during the game please. This is the exact kind of thing why a lot of sox fans are sox fans and not cub fans. If you want a circus their is one 8 miles north from here. The Cubs sell hot dogs and more food in general. Maybe we should stop selling food at the games. If you want it, you could go 8 miles north of the cell. That's how silly it sounds. I hate when people think of things as, "oh the Cubs do that, so we shouldn't do that" Stop having the Cubs in mind.
  5. I have a feeling both the Yanks and Red Sox are making the playoffs. I agree with what Harold said. It could be a Seattle Mariners type season. I'm hoping it isn't though. I'm just a pessimist, so don't mind me.
  6. I've been hearing from all over(an example is BBTN) that the Phillies won't deal him, Utley or Abreu at the deadline. They think Wagner is a huge part of the team and that he's a difference between wins and losses. Gammons also said that he expects Wagner to resign with Philly.
  7. I like the wave. It gives the casual fan something to do and let's me know there is a sellout or near sellout at the ballpark. It's also fun to do during the dull moments of games like when Duque is pitching. Saying whoever does the wave isn't a fan of baseball is just flat out wrong. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard.
  8. QUOTE(WHarris1 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:34 PM) I was there as well and his defense was spectacular. Looked spectacular on tv as well.
  9. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 10:26 PM) Nitetrain, here's the party line, assuming I can speak for all of the other mods and admins (which is a huge assumption) -- He's regitered about 10 names on this and other boards. (G-Man, Twins Rule, Twins sux, Go Sox, Fry the Twinkies, Crash, etc...) He's a 14 year old kid who's got nothing better to do than trash sox sites. If you want you can spam his blog with gay porn links. (that probably doesn't have the full backing of the admins, but I'm done with that kid) -- http://whitesoxsuck.blogspot.com/ -- Jim is welcome to stay. He's a good poster who isn't here to start trouble. G-Man's M.O. is to get a few hundred posts under the radar before he really has a good time turning the board to s***. Argue for him to stay all you want. He's gone. Thanks for the info. Let's hunt him down and go Willy Ligue on his ass.
  10. Twins. They're in our division and as much as I hate Torri Hunter, he's much like a Reggie Miller to me. I'd like to see him get a ring someday. Of course after the White Sox get theirs.
  11. Keep the new guy for now. We've kep benchwarmerjim so far so why not him. As long as he stays within line.
  12. My question is what does this do for us? We only have 5 relievers now IIRC and none who really could do mop up duty. Neal Cotts hasn't been a long reliever as many of us envisioned he would be(not because he's doing bad, but because he's doing good), Viz I guess could pitch 3 innings, but boy, we are sure going to tire out this bullpen without having mopup duty guys.
  13. Also said the White Sox are interested in Jeff Weaver who might be moved and same with Derek Lowe. I want no Jeff Weaver. He would suck at the Cell.
  14. QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:40 PM) Unnecessary to win the divison maybe, to put us over the top maybe not. AJ Burnett and Lowell isnt a smart trade. Let some other fool over pay for that. AJ doesnt put us over the top or provide something necessary. I am not sold on Schmidt. What are our worries. Crede's health? Maybe pick up Randa as a backup for Crede. Or a utility guy who can provide a good stick and play good defense at 3rd if Crede has to go down. Insurance is key. If we didnt learn anything from last year. Bullpen, you need a stocked pen for the playoffs. Your starters are going on shorter rests and have a pitch count that they cant go over or they effect the next start. The bullpen is key. Adding a Wagner puts you over the top here. I am not for trades for trades sake, but if something can put us over or provide a need go for it. I agree. Burnett = Contreras. He's not really an upgrade and lots of FLA fans are happy knowing that they'll be getting rid of him. Wagner to me makes a lot of sense.
  15. QUOTE(The Ginger Kid @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:27 PM) this is why I'd prefer not to say. If you want to email me... No need to give names. People should just learn how to take words. If they don't want to believe you, then they don't believe you. No need to give them every detail. Next thing you know they're going to ask where you work.
  16. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:36 PM) Boston Red Sox in 2004: Moved Nomar Garciaparra, picked up Orlando Cabrera, both of whom were former All Stars. They also grabbed Mientkewicz. The Marlins in 03 traded for Urbina from Texas, and also picked up Jeff Conine I believe from the Orioles as a backup. I don't consider Urbina or Cabrera all-star type players. I think Dybber means multiple all-stars.
  17. They were talking about this on ESPN and it hasn't in a long arse time. I think the last team was the Yanks, but like in 98 or 96. Something like that. Not many teams that make blockbuster deals even make it to the World Series(Cardinals were a rare exception last year).
  18. QUOTE(ScottPodRulez22 @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 04:19 PM) I want wagner but I think guardad would be easier and cheaper to get. Guardado is also an injury concern considering he's pitching with a partly torn rotator cuff.
  19. KW not making a move?? He's flying under the radar. I think I know why he's not making a trade. Roberto Alomar isn't playing for a team in the majors, therefore we don't need to trade for him.
  20. The sad thing about Shingo was that he didn't get figured out completely IMHO. The problem with him is that this year, he wouldn't throw his frisbee down the plate, just in the dirt and he threw his "fastball" down the middle of the plate and everybody is able to hit it. He should be throwing the fastball at the corners and the frisbee in the middle of the plate. If a hitter knows the frisbee isn't going to be near the plate, no need to worry about it. Just sit on his HR tee ball and bam its gone. Best of luck to Shingo though. I loved the guy and think he was a class act.
  21. From the Pistons board at RealGM, one of the main reasons was because of his unwillingness to develop Darko Milicic and Carlos Delfino.
  22. QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jul 18, 2005 -> 01:44 PM) Ah well, hopefully the White Sox know more than I do. I think this is a pretty bad move, especially if they get 0 in return, but maybe they know more. SB I agree.
  23. Eh I'm skeptical. We'll make the playoffs and win the division. That's all I care about this point. Let's worry about the season before we worry about the playoffs which comes before the WS.
  24. Does the designation of assignment mean he can't use his no-trade clause??
  25. Haha, why the hell would you send Alex Cora to the plate? I'm so damn glad we didn't sign him.
