Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 9, 2011 -> 04:44 PM) he went through Sproles right shoulder. it was a great play on the ball, but the contact was before the ball arrived and impacted Sproles ability to catch the ball. This. He blasted through Sproles(just didn't fall down yet, nor was he on the downturn yet) and batted the ball. It was a good play though, because Sproles would've caught that. I don't get why Payton didn't leave the offense spread out though. Even if you're going for a run, the Packers had to guard against the pass.

Are they done?
I think KW is for sure done. Either Ozzie stays, and KW gets fired or asks to be moved up or let go because he cannot stand Ozzie and his family's act any longer. Or JR says, "If I fire Ozzie, I'm going to clean house."

And that, my friends, is a White Sox season
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) They have drafted plenty of power pitchers over the years, but they don't pan out often. What you hit on is a guy who is at 88 but gets up to 95. I read an article one time which said the vast majority of guys that throw 95 in high school usually aren't much above 90 if that, 5 years later. IMO, what the Sox have to do is spend overslot. Be willing to take that guy and sign him, who ends up falling because he wants a ton of dough. JR is reluctant to do that, but I believe he could be convinced, especially if you tell him overall payroll would be down. Remember, Jerry was reluctant to have a high payroll, but he gave into that.

Managerial Prospects for Next Year...
We want no LaRussa because he's boring and he's been here before? I'd welcome a guy who manages the game strategically, orders a hit out if one of his guys gets hit, and actually knows how to manage. He has his flaws as any manager outside of Madden does, but he knows what the hell he's doing for the most part. You saying pick your manager except for LaRussa is like telling a Bears fan to pick their MLB outside of Urlacher(the obvious pick).

"I hope we don't get swept by the Tigers"
QUOTE (Reddy @ Sep 4, 2011 -> 11:23 PM) except that he went into the series expecting to lose. i think that's something he could have done differently. This, combined with the Dayan Viciedo quote when he was first called up is upsetting. Again, one of our main "leaders" already given props to the opposition and going in with a mindset that we are going to drop the series to them.

And that, my friends, is a White Sox season
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 09:21 PM) I hink anything that could go wrong, backfire or explode on this team has happened this year. So very frustrating. But, I don't see a ned to "rebuild". Some tweaking here and there and 2012 could be a lot better No, just no. There needs to be a serious restructuring that goes on. I like KW, but everyone needs to go. It's an organization/managing thing with this team. They need more leaders like AJ, and those leaders need to be primetime good players for them as well. I feel like the leadership has to change. PK is just too much of a lead by example type of guy who has tuned out the management as well. With the players, he really doesn't think there's too much wrong. There's no balance. They need guys who know how to win, who won't take s***, who won't wet the bed and who won't slurp their opposition like Ozzie and PK do with the Twins. In the beginning of the year, when the Twins were really sucking, all they said was how they know the Twins will be there.

I would love to clean complete house, even Hahn. Hire Billy Beane, lol.

Job Hunt Thread
Funny, a few months after applying to Apple, I finally get an email inviting me to their interview event banquets they do and the manager of the store I applied to(well one of them) told me he wants me to work there. I already got a job in IT that I love. Apple would pay me more, but I'm a PC.

Walker and Williams Argue
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 3, 2011 -> 11:22 AM) I have trouble figuring out who thought those would be bad ideas. Unfortunately, Jerry.

Speigel vs Cowley on WSCR
QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Sep 2, 2011 -> 06:08 PM) I've never liked Speigel, but his point here is 100 percent right. Cowley is basically Ozzie's PR agent, getting fed info from Oney and Ozzie, disguised as a journalist. It's embarrassing for Cowley, and quite frankly, I don't see how he's relevant in this town as a writer anymore once Ozzie is gone, which is hopefully soon. But the way Speigel handled this sounds wrong. This is something you bring up with Cowley off the air before bringing it to the show, and it sounds like he didn't do that. Speigel is the one with the accurate point, but neither party wins here. As far as I'm concerned, put Cowley, Ozzie, Kenny, and Speigel on the same train out of town. They can sort out their problems in a tag team match. Hey Joe, I'm about to question your credibility and integrity on the radio. Cool? Thanks.

I gotta agree with Rock. It's just that he's one of Chicago's own.

Jim Hendry is out as GM
QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 19, 2011 -> 10:57 AM) LOL, so true. Hendry had his pluses and minuses, but his "talent" of overspending has no place with the broke ownership. To me, a guy like Kenny Williams would've worked so much better on the Northside for the Cubs as he likes to go after the big name players the Cubs want to get, but he also doesn't overspend in FA. Right now though, not so much. I expect Ricketts to go cheap as he does on everything else since he could barely afford the squad. He'll probably also have someone else pay for their A ball stadium.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) I think there are still FA's out there that can replace both of our Guards. That is true.

Official Squared Circle Thread
Punk a transitional champ when right now he's by far the hottest thing in your company? Dumb. Plus, they still need to build up ADR at the level he was through the Royal Rumble. It doesn't make sense to do this now.

Changes Looming If No Postseason
I just don't see all 4 stars lining up like that. It would be nice because I like the beanball fights. I love LaRussa's decision making. Duncan is a pitching guru. In the end, something is going to give. I see JR doing to Tony what he did to Doug. Not hire him as he knows he'll fire him.

Brian Bruney released
IMHO, he wasn't that bad. His last few outings with us, yes he sucked and when he first got called up, he was shaky at best. In between, he was pretty darn solid.

Who Do You Dislike More?
Rios by far. At least Dunn is a nice guy who does try, probably is pressing, and wants to do good. He sucks defensively, but I know he doesn't mail it in defensively. One video sums up Rios: Alex: "who gives a shart" Sox fans: We sure as hell do.

Official 2011-2012 NFL Thread
If I'm a Bears fan, I'm upset. Not because Olin isn't coming back, but because you're still getting a downgrade from Olin which is the reason why the front office didn't resign Olin, they didn't want a downgrade. I'm even more upset that the Bears are being huge penny pinchers, simply looking for bargains like they're the Florida Marlins of football, when they should be spending like the Yankees. Why not spend the cash to get a legit line out there considering all of the good lineman who have got cut so far? Why not sign another legit WR? Being a Cowboys fan, I know Hurd is more of a 4th WR. The Bears should go after a Braylon Edwards and probably Randy Moss on top of that. They should've been in the Aso sweepstakes, and should still be looking for more corner help. Bears are being one thing right now, and that's cheap!

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) We got Stewart? Hmmm. Well that makes this a little more tolerable. There are still some unanswered questions about Stewart such as what kind of pitcher is he and is he a starter or a reliever? If you look at the statistics for Stewart in the lines above you will see a pitcher who has given up a lot of hits and few hits, walked a lot and walked a little and struck-out lot and struck-out little. Stewart has pitched very little for most teams he has been on, forty-two innings at A+ is his longest stay, so his numbers are subject to small sample size biases. At AAA Stewart profiles as a high walk, high strikeout pitcher but at AA he was the opposite. Stewart's strength is a hard running fastball that hitters find difficult to square up. Stewart also throws a slider and a change-up but both of those pitches need work. The Jays want Stewart to be a starter and that will require Stewart to improve the slider and change-up. Stewart will be limited to about 130 innings next season so he will probably split his time in 2010 between starting and relieving. Stewart has only 25 innings at AAA so he needs more time there to improve his pitches and to understand how to pitch to advanced hitters. Stewart could get some experience in 2010 as a major league reliever. To me, he's not good enough to make this deal.

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) Coop can't fix him if he can't even make it out of Triple A. Coop's probably even more pissed.

Edwin Jackson Appreciation Thread
Some of you refused to like him or support him because we gave up Hudson for him(different topic which I hope we don't get into here), but the guy did play his butt off and was sturdy. Non-injury concern and an overall nice fella. I wish you the best Edwino.

Jackson & Teahen to TOR for Frasor & Stewart (RHP)
QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) It comes down to two things 1) The Rasmus trade is very dependent on who Toronto sends as to just how bad it looks for KW. 2) KW turning Daniel Hudson into a relief pitcher and salary relief is atrocious planning and the height of his incompetence. And now I see that Hudson deal sucking. I liked it when it was for Edwin. When it's for a reliever and cap relief? Idiotic. Now is the time someone chimes in and says we could've had Hudson on 6 cheap years as opposed to a 32 year old reliever and some C prospect who won't even be a bench player for us.
