QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 15, 2011 -> 12:18 PM) I think there are still FA's out there that can replace both of our Guards. That is true. -

Punk a transitional champ when right now he's by far the hottest thing in your company? Dumb. Plus, they still need to build up ADR at the level he was through the Royal Rumble. It doesn't make sense to do this now. -
I just don't see all 4 stars lining up like that. It would be nice because I like the beanball fights. I love LaRussa's decision making. Duncan is a pitching guru. In the end, something is going to give. I see JR doing to Tony what he did to Doug. Not hire him as he knows he'll fire him.
-
IMHO, he wasn't that bad. His last few outings with us, yes he sucked and when he first got called up, he was shaky at best. In between, he was pretty darn solid.
-
Rios by far. At least Dunn is a nice guy who does try, probably is pressing, and wants to do good. He sucks defensively, but I know he doesn't mail it in defensively. One video sums up Rios: Alex: "who gives a shart" Sox fans: We sure as hell do.

If I'm a Bears fan, I'm upset. Not because Olin isn't coming back, but because you're still getting a downgrade from Olin which is the reason why the front office didn't resign Olin, they didn't want a downgrade. I'm even more upset that the Bears are being huge penny pinchers, simply looking for bargains like they're the Florida Marlins of football, when they should be spending like the Yankees. Why not spend the cash to get a legit line out there considering all of the good lineman who have got cut so far? Why not sign another legit WR? Being a Cowboys fan, I know Hurd is more of a 4th WR. The Bears should go after a Braylon Edwards and probably Randy Moss on top of that. They should've been in the Aso sweepstakes, and should still be looking for more corner help. Bears are being one thing right now, and that's cheap! -

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) We got Stewart? Hmmm. Well that makes this a little more tolerable. There are still some unanswered questions about Stewart such as what kind of pitcher is he and is he a starter or a reliever? If you look at the statistics for Stewart in the lines above you will see a pitcher who has given up a lot of hits and few hits, walked a lot and walked a little and struck-out lot and struck-out little. Stewart has pitched very little for most teams he has been on, forty-two innings at A+ is his longest stay, so his numbers are subject to small sample size biases. At AAA Stewart profiles as a high walk, high strikeout pitcher but at AA he was the opposite. Stewart's strength is a hard running fastball that hitters find difficult to square up. Stewart also throws a slider and a change-up but both of those pitches need work. The Jays want Stewart to be a starter and that will require Stewart to improve the slider and change-up. Stewart will be limited to about 130 innings next season so he will probably split his time in 2010 between starting and relieving. Stewart has only 25 innings at AAA so he needs more time there to improve his pitches and to understand how to pitch to advanced hitters. Stewart could get some experience in 2010 as a major league reliever. To me, he's not good enough to make this deal. -

QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 11:02 AM) Coop can't fix him if he can't even make it out of Triple A. Coop's probably even more pissed. -
Some of you refused to like him or support him because we gave up Hudson for him(different topic which I hope we don't get into here), but the guy did play his butt off and was sturdy. Non-injury concern and an overall nice fella. I wish you the best Edwino.

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) It comes down to two things 1) The Rasmus trade is very dependent on who Toronto sends as to just how bad it looks for KW. 2) KW turning Daniel Hudson into a relief pitcher and salary relief is atrocious planning and the height of his incompetence. And now I see that Hudson deal sucking. I liked it when it was for Edwin. When it's for a reliever and cap relief? Idiotic. Now is the time someone chimes in and says we could've had Hudson on 6 cheap years as opposed to a 32 year old reliever and some C prospect who won't even be a bench player for us. -

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:35 AM) I'm not giving up hope that something good is coming from this. As this is reported, KW would have been much better off just keeping Jackson and cashing him in for a sandwich pick. Dumping Teahen's salary makes no sense if you're picking up Frasor's salary. Unless... Does Frasor profile as a type B as well? He does. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:31 AM) It's been confirmed by multiple outlets that the Cardinals offered Rasmus to the Sox for Jackson, Thornton, and a spect. Now things have changed and Kenny's being forced to find a way to include Teabag, which is going to cost us Rasmus and anything legit in this deal. Good point. If that would've gotten the deal done, you do it. You still shed salary and get a potential stud on your hands. -

QUOTE (chunk23 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:28 AM) People are mad because KW traded away a very good young pitcher for an okay older pitcher, which is now being turned into a relief pitcher, while another team uses Jackson as the centerpiece to acquire a very good young outfielder. In other words, KW is mismanaging his resources and other GMs are taking advantage. This X1000 -

QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:23 AM) Looks like a 3 team trade, Cards get EJAX, Toronto gets Rasmus, we ger Frasor. Beatnik tweeting: SOX ARE NOT trading John Danks. The Sox are idiots if they are not thinking about trading Danks. Blow it all the way up if you must. Time to get some good prospects. Kyle Drabek better be coming through that door with Jason Frasor. -

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 10:17 AM) Keep in mind, if the Jays flip him to St Louis for Rasmus, they also have much nicer pieces down on the farm they can send along with him. Just because they are able to get Rasmus out of Jackson, does not mean we necessarily could have as well Depends on if they send a prospect with, and who that prospect is. If it's Lawrie, that's one thing. If it's a similar guy to Cooper, I say we march to Kenny's doorsteps. -

And yes, third team would likely be Cardinals (Rasmus) Kenny asleep at the wheel! -

As others have noted, this simply means they have been told to dump salary. I'm sure the Jays would get a better deal for Jackson alone. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jul 26, 2011 -> 01:17 PM) I dont think they would have to necessarily keep him off tv for the entire time. Run-ins, video interruptions, watchign from the crowd, ROH appearances. They could have milked this cow a little bit more. Regardless, I am watching. That would've been a good idea honestly. -

QUOTE (PolishPrince34 @ Jul 27, 2011 -> 09:41 AM) We better be getting some pitching prospects that are MLB ready or very soon if we are thinking of trading Danks or Floyd. Buehrle is free agent, Peavy is a major injury waiting to happen, and possibly changing Sale back to a starter might be a mistake and lead to an injury. Look what has happened to Feliz this year since messing him up. Also, if you do change Sale to a starter at most he can pitch 130-140 innings next year. Agreed. I was listening to The Score this morning and they brought up a good point. Peavy says all the right things and such, but he's like Rich Harden. He's very delicate and he has to take 2 weeks to gear up for a start, or else, don't expect much. Both have outstanding stuff when they're on, but right now, are both huge injury concerns. -

This is one trade in which I will hate Kenny for off the bat and disagree with right away. I think it's an awful move considering starting pitching is a premium and the big spenders want it. Simply godawful trade. I guess they weren't lying when they wanted to cut payroll which I really can't blame them. BTW, thread starter hit it on the head. Kudos. -
