  1. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 25, 2011 -> 03:55 PM) Jonny Flynn...the dude with a 44% TS...for Jameer Nelson? You're doing Felix and the T-Wolves a hell of a favor there. The guy's ORtg's never cracked 100 yet these past two years. A lot of teams are gonna be after Affalo if he doesn't re-up with Denver. The Bulls will definitely be one of them. Yeah, the Magic aren't going to be able to pull off Affalo. Plus, they still have Redick they're currently paying.
  2. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 24, 2011 -> 10:57 PM) Remember when the Magic were supposed to be a title contender? That was funny. I don't know what happened to Turkoglu. I mean, I thought he would be improved in Orlando's system, but he's stunk as bad if not worse than he did in PHX and Toronto. They never tried to make JRich a focal point, Gilbert sucks and Dwight's going to leave since they're handicapped by the cap.
  3. QUOTE (chw42 @ Apr 23, 2011 -> 09:01 PM) Neither team has the big-men depth the Pacers have. McRoberts, Hibbert, and Foster (hell, even Hansbrough), as challenged as they are offensively, are guys who can play good enough defense and prevent Rose from having a easy time at the basket. Outside of Garnett, the Celtics interior is quite weak on the defensive end (especially if they don't have Shaq). Bosh is not a strong defender, Joel Anthony is a joke, and Big Z doesn't really pose much of a threat on the inside either for Miami. The Heat got a nice matchup in Philadelphia, who have no guys that can play a tough inside game. If the Heat got the Indiana draw, they would probably be in a similar situation to the Bulls. Boston still has very strong schemes which is where they excel. Allen was not known as a strong defender and neither was Pierce before Thibs. The scheme is what makes them. What you did for Boston and Miami, I can very easily do for the Bulls. Bogans sucks period Rose is still a bad defender Deng is super strong Boozer sucks Noah is strong Brewer is strong Korver sucks Gibson is good In this day in age, with zone defense, it makes no sense to go up and down a player list and say they suck because schemes can hide anyone's bad defense. BTW, I suggest people look at the Hornets game and see what Chris Paul is doing. The way he directs every player and knows every spot and literally points out weaknesses to his players and points of attack are great. I won't even get started on his numbers.
  4. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 03:28 PM) Pretty sure we didn't want to pay gordon the absurd cash he got to be a sixth man, when he thought he should be a starter. I'm not arguing that Paul isn't better on f***ing PER, but you would be fired on the spot if you were a GM and traded rose straight up for Paul, an older player with a knee injury under his belt that took him an incredibly long time to recover from. End of story. I never said I wouldn't trade Rose for Paul straightup. In fact, I even stated I wouldn't when the discussion first began unless both are the same age. The argument is who is the better player today. And it's Paul folks.
  5. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 22, 2011 -> 01:58 PM) Yes. But I don't read selectively. Apparently you do. This discussion has ben about who's the best PG in the league. Myself, J4L and few others have proven through stats and advanced stats that Chris Paul is the better player. The rest of Soxtalk, through Rose colored glasses are using the weakass excuse "I'll trust my eyes". You go trust those eyes. I'm pretty sure you guys haven't watched a Hornets game in years. And I better not hear another "Rose shoots because he has to." That's what you guys wanted when you said "Get rid of Gordon, Rose needs to be able to shoot at all times. Gordon is a chucker." Like most of you guys know what a chucker is.
  6. For whatever reason, the Sox, except in 06 and 05, start terribly slow. It seems like in April, they simply suck in all phases of the game. It's early, yes, but at the end of the year, we're always looking back thinking how did we blow this season, and it's usually in April.
  7. EVO > iPhone. It honestly depends on if you want and can handle customization. Both you can pick up and use rather easily. iPhone doesn't allow for much customization. The Evo, if you have time to read up a bit on it, can do many many more things. Evo is powerful as it is. If you ever decide to mod, which I took the advice of one of the members here, you'll have by far the most powerful phone you've ever used.
  8. QUOTE (IlliniKrush @ Apr 8, 2011 -> 08:15 PM) Uh, you're a touch late to the party... Richmond was an ass bag, didn't go to class, punched a teammate, attitude problems the whole year, and they didn't want him back. Not sure how one guy acting like that has us in shambles. Who'd he punch? And also, he deserved to start. Last, but not least, who fills that gap?
  9. QUOTE (ZoomSlowik @ Apr 14, 2011 -> 11:11 AM) The NCAA is ridiculous sometimes: Potential new rule regarding the NBA draft process. So what does that really mean? The deadline to pull out of the draft and retain your eligibility would now be BEFORE the NBA's deadline to even declare for the draft. So because some coaches got their panties in a bunch about roster uncertainty, players will have basically no time to have their draft status evaluated. It's not like coaches can replace someone of NBA caliber at this point in the year anyways, virtually all of the top-100 recruits have signed and you're not going to get someone joining the party this late. Instead, guys will be making life-altering decisions with less feedback from their future employers, likely leading to more poor decisions, with very little benefit to NCAA teams. Because coaches really need to be able to go after that 3-star recruit that they'll probably wish they hadn't signed in two years to "replace" their departing stud. Hopefully sanity will prevail and it will get shot down at the next stage of approval, but knowing the NCAA it'll pass because god forbid someone actually tries to get PAID for drawing thousands of fans to arenas and millions more in the television audience. /Rant I'll agree. The NCAA and NBA need to be in unison on that. Also, what's up with Jay-Z getting fined for hanging out with Kentucky players that one game, but LeBron James who actually is connected with a sports agency doesn't.
  10. QUOTE (Tex @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 03:22 PM) But if the cheap, available, tickets mean you can see more of a team, wouldn't that lead to a fanbase? I was surprised that the Bears would be an easier competitor than the Bulls. Now I can see why from these posts. I am also starting to believe that the Bears fanbase incudes a lot of "Cubs-like" fans who just enjoy the experience of attending an NFL game. The next question would be, if you had the money and the go ahead to start a team anywhere in the world, where would it be? I'm not certain if Chicago is the ultimate spot. I'd choose Los Angeles or the Tri-State area first if I had to go to a city that already had a team. If it's any city including ones that don't have a team, it depends on the sport. If it's basketball, I would put one in Louisville and profit like OKC.
  11. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 01:40 AM) I love how you talk about Rose being able to take punishment that Paul can't yet you've determined that Paul is going to be better in the long term than Rose, that intrigues me. Anyways, yes I'm a Bulls fan and the reason I love Rose so damn much is because he makes my team about as good as any player can. I've never cared for a player more than my team, hell...Mark Buehrle might be my favorite athlete of all time but if the Sox were able to even get a minor upgrade for him at any point of his career, I'd drive him to the airport myself. Once again, you can throw all the freakin stats at me that you want, I really don't care, when I watch these two players play it's Rose be a good margin at the moment. I know it's cliche but he does what he needs to do to make his team win. He wasn't a shoot first pg his first two years in the NBA but with this team he has to be and that's why he is. I actually believe it'd really help out the Hornets a bit if Paul would shoot more instead of only taking 11 shots a game, when you're your teams best player, you have to put up more shots than that, especially when you're not working with a great supporting cast. And not to be a complete asshole but I wonder how you personally believe this team was able to win 62 games when you think Luol Deng is complete garbage, something has to give there. By the sounds of it, if it were up to you we'd have OJ Mayo and Ben Gordon running this team while Rose and Deng were somewhere else. The Bulls would not have 62 wins or be the number 1 seed overall if we had Chris Paul instead of Derrick Rose. If I thought Paul were better than Rose I'd freakin tell you, it has nothing to do with Rose being on the Bulls, he's just a better player at this point. I realize you were in the heat of the battle and you love the Bulls' PG. At the same time, you're not looking at this objectively and you even stated such in the bold statement. Just remember, the Hornets do not have anyone as good as Boozer, Noah or Deng, much less a team anywhere as good. They have Aaron Gray in their rotation which is awful. Sometimes, you can't take shots because there's three guys on you. Do I think Deng is great? No. He's not having a much better season than previous years. The thing is, in Thibs' scheme, he's showing much more importance, and that's why he gets praised much more. He had a better season in 06-07. And I'll go ahead and say, I still wouldn't pay Luol Deng an average of 14 million his last two years. And yes, Paul can last longer because he doesn't depend heavily on athleticism like Rose's game does. He's one of the most cerebral players in the league. He's excellent defensively and can do many things great. Rose as it stands, is elite because of his athleticism and strength. That tends to go away when you get older. Rose also plays with reckless abandon, taking several shots a game. Paul does not. It goes back to the Dwyane Wade argument. He eventually started getting injured a ton because of the hits he took. I still think the Bulls would be wonderful with OJ Mayo as I don't think he would've been hampered by Lionel Collins and an inept Grizzlies FO. Remember, the Bulls wanted him at the deadline, but they wanted the Bulls to give up the world for him. Yes, I wanted Mayo over Rose, but I also believe, Mayo would be a much different player if he had gone to a different team. Ever since Hollins took over for Ivaroni, he's been a different player. And I could be wrong, but I also don't have a problem admitting it. I also preferred LaMarcus Aldridge over Tyrus Thomas during their draft. Where's my prize for that? Last, but not least, about the Ben Gordon thing. You want to get on Ben for taking 15 FGA a game his last year here when he averaged 20 PPG and was the only other player than Dwight (and I think Paul IIRC) to average less FGA while scoring at least 20PPG. Remember, Ben is a SG. His whole purpose is to shoot. But then, you stick up for Derrick putting up 25 shots a game "because he has to". You can't have it both ways. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Apr 19, 2011 -> 06:29 AM) After reading through this, I apologize to nite for not getting the shoutout you deserve. (I guess it was the ol' Ben Gordon fascination that perplexed me when I forgot you are very good with talking basketball though you do have your flaws in some players' logic) You can have Rock's spot. Looks like I missed a good game btw cause of work. Glad we got the dubya. Sorry you missed the game. It was a good one. To me, the game was never in question. What's in question is how far the Bulls can go. Noah still doesn't seem right. Boozer refused to take all but one shot in the second half, despite finishing with a good stat line, and Deng didn't play so well. I can easily see the Bulls upset by Orlando if they don't get it together.
  12. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 08:28 PM) Well hooray for PER. Chris Paul is a damn good player but no he's not as good as Rose and anyone can throw any damn stat around at me, he's just not. Like Gage said, there's not one nba gm that would trade Derrick Rose for Chris Paul at this point, not one. Lets just say, that the Bulls would not have had the best record in the NBA this season if Chris Paul was their pg instead of Derrick Rose, no chance. Every stat or metric favors Paul. It's simply not even close. Paul has been the better player. I love Rose, I love his explosiveness, I like the excitement he brings. At the same time, Paul is a better player than Rose overall. Paul has battled more injuries than Rose as well, he doesn't have the ability to take the punishment Rose does every night. Heck, I don't know any PG who can considering how strong Rose is. At the same time, Paul can simply do everything but score, better. That includes passing, court vision, defense, hell his efficiency field goal percentages and TS% are much better as well. We're all Bulls fans here, and we love Rose. And if I were starting a team, I probably would take Rose unless we're taking them both at the same age. In the case, I'm taking Paul easily. Plus, his game shouldn't drop off as hard as Rose's when they leave their primes which means the longevity will be there with Paul. With guys like LeBron and Rose, I'm not sure.
  13. CP3 not as good as Rose? What?! He's a much better overall player. Rose is more explosive, but he cannot sniff Paul defensively which is half the game. Paul's lowest PER in a season was 22. Paul not as good as Rose, children please.
  14. QUOTE (kev211 @ Apr 18, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) I think theres a lot of people like me who root for the Bears because they are in Chicago and need an NFL team to root for who would be easy converts. Obviously the Bears would rule this town, but the Cubs rule this town and the White Sox are able to support themselves so I think the new team could create a fan base pretty easily. However in the NBA it would be harder because theres less people who care about the NBA and need to be a fan of an NBA team, and anyone who does in this city is going to have a tough time turning their back on the Bulls and their history with Jordan. And theres that guy named Derrick Rose on the Bulls who is really fun to watch right now as well. Yeah, but people forget how big this city is, as well as people willing to jump ship, people willing to pay cheaper ticket prices, and people who move from other cities to here. If you're a Knicks fan, and you move to Chicago for a job. You have a choice to root for the Bulls or the new team. You tell me you're going to be a Bulls fans? There's a ton of fans who hate the Bulls because of what Jordan did to them in the 90's. A ticket in Chicago would be easy to sell as long as it's a winner.
  15. I honestly think both would succeed. I don't like the Bears, so I would definitely watch the other team. I love the Bulls, but I would definitely check out the other team, especially if they have cheaper ticket prices. A 2nd team in Chicago for either sport can be successful. It really is just dependent on prices and where in Chicago they are located.
  16. Richmond just left Illinois. I would say they're in shambles to be honest. Anyone have insider info on what went on with him and Bruce?
  17. My minds > Yours. Half of you wanted teh suck that is Tyson Chandler. The other half of you were sad to see Kurt(sup Vinny) go. And the others think Luol Deng is having a great year when in all honesty, he's not playing at a higher level, it's just the team is winning and Rose is a unicorn.
  18. Seems like it's Rock vs Cena and HHH vs Undertaker for next year. Comical they got fined for the chair shot. Miz vs Austin won't happen. Rey vs Sin Cara probably will.
  19. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 25, 2011 -> 06:10 PM) My sources in Columbus say they would be very surprised to see Pryor, Posey and Tressell associated with OSU by the time all of the real information comes out. Do you have anymore information. I know you don't want to say something until you verify it 100%, but do you have anything that it relates to? Boos, drugs, etc? And what's the promise that was made that I see zen talking about?
  20. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 05:31 PM) Dwight's tech wasn't rescinded so he'll miss the Bulls game on Fri. Think its a blessing in disguise for us really as he needs as much rest as he can get before the playoffs. It'll giv us a chance to c how we fare without him against the Bulls. Hurts my fantasy championship week!!!!!
  21. QUOTE (Stan Bahnsen @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 07:07 PM) He's acknowledged the psychosis. That's at least step 5 or 6. There's hope for the young man yet. Nothing but love. Lol. We all love J4L though. Jackson is just a discussion that he won't budge on and that's fine. Some of us have our biases for certain players, whether we like to admit it or not. At the end of the day, it's
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 7, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) I think you guys are piling on. It's not like he's just posting "jackson sucks", his posts are reasonably backed up. I could see both sides honestly. J4L hates on Jackson more than the average non-Jackson supporter. It seems to me, and apparently SoxBadger that unless Jackson goes undefeated in a playoff run to the WS, wins Cy Young, and WS MVP while Dan Hudson tears his arm off, Jackson will never be the better option over keeping Hudson. I have agreed to disagree awhile ago, but that's how it comes off to some posters.
