2010-2011 NBA Thread
The problem with the Heat is the fact that Wade and LeBron refuse to play sacrifice Alpha Dog status for the other. You can see, despite as much as I despise Bosh, he's trying to make it work. And Wade is also trying to set him up and vice versa. LeBron is basically running that team and both Wade and Bosh will get the rock when they get it. Bosh has a passive personality, while Wade seems to be getting more and more upset. When you have 3 star players and 2 stud players, there has to be a lot of give and take because the rest of the team is so weak. It really does depend on one of them. I wouldn't be surprised if Wade jacks up 30 shots tomorrow to remind LeBron who's team it is. The worst thing about the Heat is that they don't run any plays, especially in crunch time. They literally go ISO which ends up with Bron creating a shot for someone who shouldn't be shooting in that situation. Many times he gets them open, but it's because many teams know they can layoff the player he passes it to because the Heat are not putting that player in a position to succeed. Such as when they have Bosh take 26 foot threes. What they should be doing is executing plays, especially when it's crunch time because not only does the opposition worry about leaving someone open off a screen or pick, but they also don't know who's going to take the shot. It could be Wade initiating, hitting LeBron at the high post who lobs it up for a backdoor cut by Wade or Bosh. Until Wade and LeBron are ready to sacrifice for each other and the team, it's going to be tough. No coach can succeed in that environment. They literally need a Phil Jackson type of coach.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 02:05 PM) Going to the movie store is just plain fun IMO. People are going to watch old movies where they go to video stores and wonder what the hell these people are doing. I guess I am going down the path of the Roku box (since Boxee failed me) and getting netflix, Hulu plus and Amazon. A PS3 will let you have those, minus Amazon, but plus Vudu(which you get one HD free movie trial without going through hoola hoops and their titles are released they day they are at the stores) and mlb.tv if you use that service. Plus it's a Blu Ray player. I know the Blockbuster you're talking about too. Seemed to be a good spot. I can't believe all these video stores are being replaced by machines.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 28, 2011 -> 04:31 PM) Corey Brewer's offense has been a black hole since...oh I don't know...his first year in the NBA. He has a career TS% of .436. He could be a good defender given his size, but the Bulls already have one of those in Ronnie Brewer. Yeah, Brewer is basically a waste of time. He's a very poor man's version of our current Brewer. Rasual is repitive as well.

QUOTE (iamshack @ Feb 25, 2011 -> 08:46 PM) Someone will figure out a way around this...and when they do, I'll be sold. You can stream it through your PS3 as well. I thought it was based on your IP address, not credit card information. If it was, couldn't you just change your credit card information to a PO box in another state?

KW calls $30 million for Albert Pujols “asinine"
In baseball, I agree. 1 player is not going to turn around your team. In basketball that's true. You are better off splitting 30 million into two or three players than spending it on one.

2/21/11 promo was god awful. I don't understand why the special hype for this one. And then no words? We all know HHH is going to lose and it will be pointless. It will be more boring than those Kane vs Undertaker WM matches.

Didn't think you guys would be that interested in trade talk. Mayo would benefit the Bulls more than Asik or Gibson would. At the same time, I can see why the Bulls didn't do it. They want big man depth because that's how you beat the Heat.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 06:57 PM) Before Noah got hurt, they were one of the top 3 teams in the league in pace (Possessions per game or however you define it). After Noah got hurt, they've been in the bottom 10. What can you say, Kurt is a slower guy. Slowing it down has helped their defense in the half court. It's hurt their offense though, especially Derrick who loves getting out on the break.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:34 PM) After a couple of hours I noticed it was a lot easier when I was using plasmids instead of trying to scrounge up ammo, and also I didn't have to bother with trying to kill everything. Yep, don't worry. The game gives you more than ample chances to re-up your plasmid bar. I think the first time I played through, I ran out of Eve just once and that was for two seconds. Rest of the game, I had at least two containers of Eve. Can't wait for Bioshock Infinite to come out.

Best of Chicago
Best Burger: Kuma's Corner in Avondale. Lady Gaga even eats burgers there, nuff said! Best Hot Dog: Hot Doug's in Avondale. Half a mile away from Kuma's. Only bad thing is it's open between like 10-4 on weekdays. I think they added Saturday hours. Expect a line out the door and bring cash. If you don't, Dougie will let you get your meal, eat, then come back after getting cash from the ATM right after you're done.

QUOTE (lostfan @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) How am I supposed to play BioShock? I mean I don't have problems making it through the game or anything, I just die a lot more than I think I should. In the beginning, use plasma, then melee hit. If they're in water, use the electric plasma. Later on, use incinerate or freeze.

Yeah, I think the Bulls kind of need to beat the Spurs to cement their spot into the NBA elite contender role. I don't think they will though. SA is just a well oiled machine. Then again, we should've beat them in Texas earlier in the year.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 10:09 AM) 91 wins, first in the Central. Morel has a good rookie season, Dunn hits over 40 home runs, Konerko declines to near 2009 levels, Rios begins the year with struggles, but has a good second half to recover, Beckham has a breakout season, and Peavy starts 25 games. I'm going with this.

QUOTE (PeavyTime @ Feb 15, 2011 -> 01:14 PM) You took what I said out of context. Home court wasn't much of an argument against the Celtics last year. Of course you'd rather play at home in the playoffs. However, if the Celtics play their ass off and get home court last season, they would have had nothing left for the postseason. This is also my argument for SA falling on their face come the playoffs this year. The tank will read E. I think SA will fail, but I also think, if Game 7 was in Boston last year, Boston wins.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 12, 2011 -> 09:38 PM) Top 20 1. Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 2. Fallout 3 (barely loses out here) 3. Super Smash Brothers Melee 4. Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening 5. Half-Life, but mainly for it's mods like Team Fortress and Day of Defeat and other obscure ones like Wanted. 6. Warcraft 3 7. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 8. F-Zero GX 10. Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess 11. Pokemon Red/Blue 12. Resident Evil 4 13. Harvest Moon 64 14. Resistance: Fall of Man 15. TimeSplitters 2 16. Mario Kart Double Dash Or MKWii or MKDS, can't decide. Actually, Diddy Kong Racing may have topped them all. 17. Dragon Warrior 3 18. Fire Emblem 19. Roller Coaster Tycoon 20. Donkey Kong 64 or DKC. Can't decide. Left out sports games because my likes our obscure. Arcady games like Wii Sports, Wayne Gretzky, any Mario sports game, WCW vs. NWO, NBA Jam, and Ken Griffey SNES all belong. My sim likes are Fifa 2002, College Hoops 2k8, MLB 2005, and NBA 2k5. Bioshock is the greatest game of all time. That's all you need to know fellas.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Feb 13, 2011 -> 04:43 PM) The second one is still one of the best looking games I've ever seen on any platform - PC included. I like how realistic it feels. The weapons feel like they should in real life - heavy. You also get a decent amount of recoil when you fire. Plus the cover system works nice. Agreed. Play the campaign on Elite and you'll feel awesome after beating it. Can't wait for the 3rd.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 06:11 PM) Newton has terrible mechanics, i don't understand how anyone can think they are good. He holds the ball low like Tebow and sidearms it while taking a hop. This. I think the only reason why people think he can be a QB in progress is because he can't play another position other than maybe TE in which is value immediately drops. With there not being too many good QB's this year, someone's going to take a risk on him because he's a leader and then 3 years down the line, they'll be dissapointed that he's a bust like Reggie Bush. Then everyone will wonder what happened.

BTW, currently constructed and 100%, I think the Bulls are the third best team in the East. I think they matchup with Boston better than they do with Orlando. They've given us troubles for years and I don't know why. We can keep up with Boston. I don't think we'd win more than 2 games against the Heat as their two best players play our two weakest positions. We also do not have a secondary ballhandler. It's sad when Watson has to close out the game in the 4th because no one else can handle the rock while teams are playing deny defense on Derrick.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
I've been saying this year's draft was going to be weak for a long time. The prize was supposed to be Harrison Barnes and quite honestly, he's sucked. Kanter may be good and probably will be taken since we don't know how much suck he has in him. Sullinger will be a solid rotation player, but nothing else. It's going to get dark for the next few years for the draft. That's what makes it worse for Cleveland. They can't attract any ballplayers as FA, no one wants to get traded there(hopefully CBA rules prevent players from dictating where they go) and there's no hope in the draft. This is also why I think the Bulls should trade Charlotte's pick for OJ Mayo or any SG they're targeting minus a very select few. Because even if we keep it, by the time we can cash it in, Boozer will be old and we'll be looking for another PF.

QUOTE (fathom @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 05:56 PM) Deron's a good guy...compared to the other two members of the big three from Illinois (Dee and Head), he's an absolute saint. I would say this is probably a case of fame getting the best of him. Honestly, I think his darkside is coming out and it's because he's always sick of being in the background. He has never gotten the recognition he thinks(and arguably, it's true) he deserves. In high school, it was all about Bracey Wright. In college, it was moreso about Dee Brown. In the pros, everyone overlooks him despite him being one of the best or thee best PG in the league. For the record, I like Paul over him, but that's neither here nor there. With claims that he's leaving, he's most likely to join a superteam or take his ball and go home(to Dallas).
