  1. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:55 PM) Fox didn't show Cutler going over plays with Hanie or trying to calm him down either, they only showed him standing on the sidelines by himself looking despondent. Yeah, I thought that was weird. I was reading the paper today and they said he was helping Caleb alot when he was in. No one showed it though other than when Caleb was right next to Cutler looking at the playbook. But it didn't look like they were talking. And that Angelo quote is the best thing he's done all season. I'm glad his players are defending him on this.
  2. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:47 PM) I'm talking about over the course of the last two years. People don't like him. There is a reason for it. And it's not just because he gets some bad rap for not treating the media well. So become a leader. Treat people with respect. Grow up. Mature. You've been handed the keys to one of the best organizations in all of sports. Now take advantage of it. What has he done not to endear himself to Bears fans? I know with the media, they hated the fact that he gave cliches as answers because he would never show emotion with them. From what I know, he hasn't been a dbag with the teammates. Again, he can be a better rah rah guy, but at the same time, when you get beatup like he did all season long, eventually it wears on you and you do show frustration. And I disagree about it being one of the best organizations in all of sports. Storied? Yes, but not best.
  3. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:41 PM) pretty much my whole Facebook friends list that was watching the game between about 4:30 and 7 pm EST did this. Yep, everyone was calling him a wuss, said he was faking it, talked about him manning up and how he quit on the Bears by faking an injury.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:33 PM) Honestly, I have defended him all year. And yes, I have watched all the games. In fact, I live out of town so I paid $300 to do so. I also was wearing a $300 Cutler jersey yesterday, so it isn't like I am someone who just dislikes him. I agree he has taken a beating this year, and he has done so admirably. As for his mopey face, I have watched enough Colts games this year to notice Peyton Manning usually wears a similar look on his face when things aren't going well. Maybe I am being too hard on the guy and asking him to succeed any more than he has in this situation is just too much to ask from him. Maybe no one could have answered the bell this season as well as he did. I guess we will never know. What I do know is that I wanted so badly for Jay to answer his critics yesterday. Trust me, when you walk around with that guy's jersey on in a town other than Chicago, you catch s*** for it. So it's not like I am not a supporter of him. Instead, what happened, is Jay played poorly in the biggest game of his life and then couldn't return to the game even though he could walk around the sidelines. Ultimately, that rubbed me the wrong way. I just wish he would give a crap about what people thought of him. I wish he would represent the organization in a better manner. I wish he would recognize he needs to be a leader, and that means doing things other than just on the field. But I guess he is who he is, and we aren't going to change that. We just have to accept it. How did he not represent the organization well? He had every opportunity to go at his critics in the postgame interview and he simply responded no comment when I'm sure he wanted to go at everyone. Your leaders on the team don't even question the guy's toughness. I do agree that he needs to be at least a fake rah rah guy to get the guys fired up.
  5. I love Tomlin as a coach and Dick Labeau even more. Harrison is cool, but for some reason I dislike Troy P. I definitely am not a fan of Ben. I am a fan of Mendenhall. On the other side, I'm a fan of Rodgers, McCarthy, Charles Woodson.
  6. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:28 PM) People are just predisposed to not liking Cutler. So many people were just waiting for something like this to happen so they can unload. Reading comments, my Facebook news feed, etc. really convinced me of that. I did start to notice the tide moving in the other direction when it started to come out that he was really hurt, though. I agree. I've seen several people on there posting their images of throwing away their Cutler jersey or burning it. Boys and girls. I shook my head and just said, "Bears fans don't deserve a franchise QB".
  7. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) I really think the Bears handled this poorly. Had they just said during the game "we believe he's torn a ligament based on our evaluations and he can't come back in the game" everybody would've known what was going on. But they told the commentators that his return was "questionable" which sounds like he could've come back in if he wanted to. In reality he tried and could barely move. Eh I guess. I mean, in the heat of the battle, you never want to say he's out completely, especially in that big of a game. They probably didn't have the necessary information yet and didn't want to be bothered. So they just said questionable. So how about everyone commend Lovie, his coaching staff, and the players for the overachieving season they did have and for providing you with a fun season? Critique the game, the players, the ability to overcome a flawed roster into the Final Four of the NFL. Suggest things Jay could improve on such as leadership. Talk about Martz coming back for another year only benefitting Jay. Talk about schemes. But let's not talk about a player who was injured and who made a decision not to further injure himself, especially after the beating he took during the season. If the Cowboys had the same season, yeah, I would be upset about us not reaching the pinnacle, but at the same time, I wouldn't start calling out a guy like DeMarcus Ware if he sat out after being injured considering I know the toughness he has displayed throughout the year.
  8. BTW, it's not like Jay not playing cost them the game. Jay was doing pretty bad out there and Hanie looked much better and almost brought them back when they were left for dead. Why can't it be, the Bears just got beat by a better team? The Packers were supposed to win the division and were a preseason Super Bowl favorite. The Bears never were supposed to belong and they overachieved considering their O-Line, all their new coaches, and lack of a jumping target.
  9. I think the problem, as we see by this thread, is his attitude. That's why people are questioning him. Had it been any other QB with a charming personality, there would be no complaints. But since it's Jay and we don't like the fact that he mopes, that's where all the calling out comes into play.
  10. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Jan 24, 2011 -> 02:01 PM) Kind of funny that his critics (Dilfer, Hassleback, et al) constantly criticize his mechanics, but they want him to play through an injury that wouldn't have allowed him to plant when he threw. Trent didn't even criticize Cutler's toughness. He did say though, he does need to be a better leader. He should've got the guys amped up and been cheering on the sidelines. I disagree with the latter, but Dilfer wasn't even close to roasting Cutler. In fact, he probably was one of his only defenders. I agree Cutler needs to learn how to be a better leader, or at least fake being one. He shows his frustration too much and really does nothing to fire up the squad. In fact, his demeanor always seems down during games. Maybe he can work on that in the offseason as his personal mission while the team works on getting him a better line and definitely a better WR. Guys who they should consider are Chad OchoCinco, Terrell Owens(I wouldn't do both together to be honest), trade for Roy Williams or Dez Bryant(if really available), possibly get Eddie Royal, Vincent Jackson or somehow trade up for AJ Green.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 11:43 PM) Maybe your points on Thornton and Beckham support your position on this. But Paulie had the power to leave and didn't. That's an overall indicator that things in his world are fine. I think this is all stupid. Most teams have placid managers. Ozzie and Piniella are two of the rare ones who steal headlines with things they say. What's wrong with that? I'll take interesting over dull media bullies any day. PK also indicated it took him to get more money to get him to stay than it would've to leave to the DBacks. I think the quote was he was ready to settle for the Dbacks at 10 million until the Sox game him 13 mil a season. And PK's whole thing was the Ozzie sctick going on all season with KW. So PK stayed, but it was for the money more than it was for anything else.
  12. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 06:00 PM) Nor should have Lovie put in Hanie in the third quarter. He should have known the rule. Cutler took himself out. Are you seriously saying lovie shouldve risked collins throwing an int? The.bears had no chance with collins. Props for lovie recognizing that early enough
  13. Btw someone give lovie aome credit for going to caleb. Btw cutler got imjured on last series in 1st half
  14. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 05:20 PM) And if it worked it would have been genius. What if he called for a pass and Heine got sacked or intercepted? Bingo. Seriously not a bad call. Bears need a better oline field conditions and receivers
  15. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 05:19 PM) The D was. But there was a hole and why not give it to Hester/Taylor/Forte? Because the play was blown up. The blockers simply were outmuscled on the play. It was not horrible.
  16. QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Wow, Martz deserves to be blasted for that terrible play with our slowest skilled position player. Nice try Hanie, you showed more balls than Jay Quitter could ever dream of. No he doesnt. Why cant you bears fans accept a good defense being in the right position?
  17. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jan 23, 2011 -> 05:10 PM) Hanie needs to run like lightning and pass like thunder. Damn right. Imagine if they went right to him over collins
  18. There is no downfield blocking for the bears
  19. Hanie making big plays. Wowwwww
  20. There is the three and out. Its on hanie and crew now. Give him time and roll with two minute l
  21. Gutcheck time. They need 3 and out
  22. Hanie nice with the two minute o
  23. Really not on nanie. Moreso on good defensive play calling
