  1. QUOTE (BobDylan @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 03:11 PM) Vudu makes the PS3 a clear winner as far as media centers are concerned. Yep, got me free download from Vudu the other night when I was bored. Quality was amazing and there was absolutely no latency. I was shocked how it didn't pause even once and my internet is really not that fast.
  2. QUOTE (J.Reedfan8 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 06:20 PM) EPIC. Both shots were pretty crazy from Mayo and Evans. The game in general was nuts. Zach Randolph went off. And if Tyreke doesn't hit that shot, people would be talking about how Memphis is crazy to bury Mayo. That shot was spectacular. One legged fadeway jumper.
  3. QUOTE (The Critic @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 07:09 PM) I only like it if they let them destroy everyone in sight for a while. IMO it would weaken Punk and Nexus if the program only lasts a couple PPVs. I'd have Punk win the belt while leading Nexus, have Barrett turn face (seems they want to do this anyway) and eventually Barrett or Cena wins the belt. Maybe at WrestleMania? If done correctly, it can elevate Punk to main event status. If botched, it can hurt him as a solo performer and Nexus as a group. This all the way. They need to use this to elevate CM Punk and Nexus. They've made Nexus seem like bums enough already. Punk becomes champ. Make Slater and Gabriel have beef with all tag teams and take them out, have Otunga win a belt. No one takes them seriously because they beat guys down but lose every PPV. In the end though, they're going to waste this like they did with the original Nexus. Punk will win a match or two, Cena will bury him, Wade will probably help him, and half of Nexus will be in TNA. WWE had a chance to make this their nWo and they blew it.
  4. I just read this whole thing and Rock, I got to strongly disagree with you. It's Ozzie's job to make sure Oney or any of his other sons don't put White Sox business out there. Now you may say, "He didn't get that info from Ozzie, he and Bobby hung out together and Bobby told him everything.". For some things that were said, that may be true. But I doubt Bobby said "Oh yeah Oney, so I went into your old man's office and cried my eyes out with my personal problems." A meeting between manager and player is only something those two should know what was spoke about. Oney seems to know way more detail than Bobby simply saying "I talked to Oz earlier". It's quite easy to tell that Oney knew information that only the organization should know, not a family member of the org. And most importantly, it's quite easy to tell, a lot of the information came from Ozzie himself.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 06:46 PM) So can someone explain to me why Maryland fired Friedgen? That program was awful before he got there and he had a lot of success with only a couple of losing seasons. Granted he had an awful year last year but then he wins 9 games with a very young team this year. Does Maryland really think they can do better? AD I believe is huge friends with Under Armour president who in turn is really good friends with Mike Leach. It's not like they hired an awful coach. But if I was Friedgen, I would be upset.
  6. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 08:33 AM) Sweet. Definitely keep them bookmarked. You'll learn a ton about your phone from that forum. And don't be scared to ask questions. You'll get them answered much quicker than hoping for me to be logged on in Soxtalk. Oh and BTW, the v7 kernel in this thread (2nd post) is a must have. Definitely a major improvement for the battery. I went with the SBC for Netarchy's CFS More Aggressive 4.1.9.1. Thanks man. Phone looks cooler, is much more customized to my liking, and feels even more powerful.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 04:17 PM) Watching this tonight on blu ray. Have not seen it yet. Very excited. You will love it. I do suggest not drinking and being distracted when watching the movie. That why you understand it and know exactly how and why certain things can and cannot be done. You'll notice, there is very little to no plotholes in the movie, the way Nolan setup the story. And the soundtrack is amazing.
  8. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 08:33 PM) I read the Him in the "I think this is why they wanted him gone" to refer to Jenks. The statement was reading they wanted Jenks gone because of the behidn the scenes stuff. Oops, yeah, sorry. I was referring to Ozzie. Jenks was moreso cost vs actual performance.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 08:17 PM) They wanted him gone because he was awful last year and because teams were going to offer him a lot more money. Behind the scenes they obviously tried to do what they could to help him, but they're not going to tolerate him turning around and ripping him. This is actually a really interesting and effective use of Oney's twitter, as a method of replying without having it be an official organizational statement. I think they wanted him gone because KW couldn't stand him always popping off and his son as well. If any other manager did the same job Ozzie did last year, they wouldn't be selling him to the highest bidder.
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 04:23 PM) The list of coaches either fired or on the hot seat is pretty long this year Den McDaniels(fired) Dal Phillips(fired) SF Singletary(fired) Min Childress(fired) Hot seat NYG Coughlin Cin Lewis Jac Del Rio SD Turner(im including him even though he got a vote of confidence from his team president) Tex Kubiak Mia Sparano Car Foxx Ari Whisenhunt Ind Caldwell That is quite a big possibility of massive turnover this year I think Coughlin begins next year on the hot seat. I think Lewis is gone. Del Rio will stay. Turner will stay. Kubiak is definitely staying from what I've heard. Sparano is 50-50. Foxx is probably gone. Wisenhunt should be off the list. And Caldwell never belonged on it. I think Cable should be on the list, but won't be because they semi-overachieved this year.
  11. Not good for Ozzie that his son is telling personal stories about the organization. I have a feeling this is why they wanted him gone. How else would Oney know?
  12. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) I think people are really over-estimating Mayo. Obviously he's a high draft pick and has always had a bunch of hype around him. But he's having a bad year his third year in the league, his shooting is down, his assist and rebound numbers are bad. He can shoot OK from 3 and he has a quick first step and shown a willingness to defend. But it's not like he looks like he's going to make an all-star team any time soon. Compare Mayo to Courtney Lee and then explain why Mayo is worth Taj Gibson, Omer Asik, James Johnson, and the Charlotte draft pick while Lee's value is so much less. Obviously Mayo still has some potential, but I think that's just too much to give up for a player that has performed at the level Mayo has. Compare the situations they have been in. Compare the talent level. Compare the BBall IQ.
  13. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:40 PM) The issue I see with Mayo is that he's not really a 2. He's more of a 1 than a 2 but he's that classic sort of combo guard. And he also needs the ball in his hands a lot to be effective. That would be an issue playing alongside Rose. Disagreed. Mayo is effective off the ball as well. Throw him through a few screens and let him get the wide open 3 playing off of Rose. He's good both on and off the ball. I used to think he should be a PG, but I see he's more of a natural scorer who has ballhandling ability. He would be nice to lead the 2nd team when Rose is getting a breather. Him and Rose are also really right with Tyreke and Russell Westbrook. All of them are hardworkers and I don't forsee any problems with chemistry. The best part of it is, the Bulls would have a legit 2nd ballhandler playing next to Rose. In crucial games, that's important. Want to trap Rose, throw it to Mayo, and let him and Booze play the two man game and vice versa.
  14. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Maybe I'm confused. Then you're saying that package, assuming it's legit, would definitely be worth Mayo? And what do you mean broken wide open by Forman? It would be worth Mayo down the road. But the thing is, the league is a what have you done for me lately. Memphis has killed his value and all have entered an impasse in which they will have to deal him. They don't have the funds to pay him for what they're using him as. They already paid Conley and Gay. Gasol and Randolph will be looking for paydays and are much more needed for what they do. They drafted Xavier Henry and are trying out SG's. It's pretty clear, they have no intention on keeping him. As for the Bulls, they still need some type of bench. I would say I'd do the deal as constructed, but Memphis can only have one of Asik/Gibson, not both. And what I mean is that the Bulls would be a top contender in the East for awhile considering the age average of the team. Their future core has an average age of something like 23 or 24. That's nuts. Only team they'd have to deal with is Miami, but also remember, Wade will be breaking down.
  15. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) I'm just wondering where you're getting the 3 inch vertical loss from? And if I'm understanding you correctly, you think Rose's lack of regard for attacking the basket is going to cost him in the long run where as Mayo's playing style allows for him to be much more durable in the future? I'll agree with you there, but that's something you deal with when it comes along. Rose's conditioning is impeccable, I think everyone will agree with that. But he's also one of the more physical PG's ever seen. Look at how long guys like Gary Payton and Derek Fisher have lasted though. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/morrissey/2...rying-wall.html And it's not that Rose goes in there with reckless abandon. He actually doesn't. His driving game is great in the regards that he is able to contort his body so he doesn't end up taking hard contact and still is able to make most of his ridiculous shots. It's a matter of his game being so relied on speed and quickness. When your knees are detoriorating that quickly, it's scary. I don't want to say it's a Brandon Roy situation, but still. You have to be concerned with it. The good thing is that he's constantly working on his game because he knows he won't always be able to outjump or outrun everyone.
  16. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) The Jets might be the most overrated team in NFL history. ESPN declared them Super Bowl favorites for adding half of the 2002 Pro Bowl roster. It's f***ing ridiculous. The Bears HORRID offensive line demolished the Jets. Revis is legit though. And if I'm the Bears, I'd drool at the chance to add Marshall, Jackson or Ochocinco this offseason. I think as others have stated, the O-Line needs to be addressed first. Almost a complete overhaul.
  17. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I just think the reasons you cited in your argument are hilarious, that is all. I suppose. But every year since Mayo's rookie year, his usage % has gone down while his PER goes down. Two stats I think which are linked, especially for guys who should be high usage players. Guys like Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, etc. Again, I have no problem admitting OJ has shown less thus far than Rose. A lot less. But you also have to understand their situations and how they're much much different. OJ may very well be overrated from his hype in high school. Rose is certainly a bigger star than anyone could've imagined. I'm glad Rose is on my favorite team. What would you like me to say?
  18. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Um, OK. lol. I don't agree with a thing you said here. But if you have a chance to get a 23-year old talent like Mayo in return for a couple role players and a draft pick, you do it. Rose/Mayo/Noah/Boozer sets you up quite nicely for a number of years. Not just 2011. You don't have to agree. Especially if the Bulls end up with Mayo. That would be a heck of a core, and the window for a championship would be broken wide open by Gar Forman for years to come.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) Randolph ought to be interesting as a FA> Agreed. He seems to have calmed down in Memphis. He's also as productive if not more. Too bad, there's no structure in Memphis. They don't have bad guys, they just have no direction. Tons of talent though. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) It's my opinion. If Memphis had drafted Rose and Chicago had drafted Mayo, I'd think both be in different positions right now. No doubt though, Rose has had arguably a HOF worthy start to his career. OJ has not. We gotta see what happens. Hopefully OJ can go to another team.
  20. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) As much as I love the guy, it's the right move for the 49ers going forward. I was shocked at how emotionally volatile Singletary was in his tenure there. I assumed he would be much more stoic in his approach, but clearly he's a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve. The instability at the qb position really hurt them, and that is trickling down to the rest of their offense with the failure to really develop Crabtree and Vernon Davis much more this season. There is no reason this team couldn't have been a "Jets-lite" sort of team this season, and yet they have been difficult to watch and atrocious more than not. I'm sure Mike will catch on somewhere else, although I doubt as a coordinator. Probably going to have to go back to a linebacker's coach somewhere, unless he wants to drop down to the college ranks. Come to think of it, maybe that would be where he was better off anyways...where he could really have an impact on young kids before they get spoiled and corrupted by all the money and the NFL lifestyle. I agree it was the right move. And they really need a QB, badlyyyyy. Without one, they're delaying the development of both Crabtree and Davis as you stated. They have talent all around.
  21. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) I dunno. Marshall will cost a lot in price and draft picks whereas V-Jack and Ocho (likely) will be free agents and not require a pick. For the Bears sake, I think it would be smarter to go after Ocho or Vjack. Much smarter. With that said, I don't see them getting either one.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) This shocks me coming from you. Weren't you the one that said the Bulls should've taken Mayo over Rose or that he was the better prospect? Yes. But at the same time, everyone knows Memphis must trade him. They're benching him and killing his value. Even when he's the only option available, they let him get hot, then bench him immediately almost to make sure nobody sees how good he is or can be. It's weird. It's happened about 3 times this year alone. And to be fair, I'd still take Mayo over Rose back then only because I believe Mayo's game will translate better as they get older. Rose on the other hand is already having health problems. It's not good when you have tendinitis in your knees and have lost 3 inches off your vertical within 3 years.
  23. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Yes. Anthony to the Knicks would definitely complicate matters. I disagree about Bynum. I don't know how any team would touch him. And the Lakers are going to hit a slump once Kobe ultimately declines or retires. Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon is about as good a 1-2 punch to build around in the game aside from Durant and Westbrook. But they're still the Clippers. I think Bledsoe will be a nice player for them as well. Honestly, they need DeAndre to pan out, or to trade him, Kaman and a pick for a legit big prospect. I do see the Lakers starting to decline sooner than we think. The Bulls could become great and one Miami whooping away from a championship with Mayo and they'd have a much wider window. New York needs Carmelo. Without him, they're stuck in the worst position possible. Good enough to win consistently, but not enough for a championship. Which means, they're going to have to pick from the bottom of the draft.
  24. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) The Grizzlies have Marc Gasol and Hasheem Thabeet as their Centers, with Zach Randolph and Darrell Arthur as their PF's, and someone named Hamed Haddadi as their 3rd C. Randolph's contract is huge and expiring, Gasol is not under contract next year but they may have his rights as well. The other guys are young, of the sort that they might not be thrilled to move. Thabeet's salary is about $5 million, Arthur and Haddadi are around $1 million. Haddadi is decent, but Memphis never took the time to develop him. BTW, he's onl his way to being locked up. They actually have a nice big rotation, but a lot of their guys are having their deals due up. I believe Randolph and Gasol are coming up soon. Gasol is a lock to stay, Zach, not so much. For as much as I love Mayo, I would not give up Asik, Taj, and the Bobcats pick for him. it's 2 of the 3 and that's it.
  25. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Unless you already lost root there's no reason to accept the OTA update. Any update provided by Sprint will be provided in rooted format to flash within a day or two. I kept it rooted and just read all of XDA. So now I know what I'm doing. I'm glad too. My battery alone lasts a lot longer without calibration.
