  1. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 08:52 PM) My wife saw Kerry Wood at the western/belmont toys r' us once. That's the worse Toys R Us I've ever been to.
  2. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) Melo isn't going to the Nets!! The biggest deal here is Terrence Williams getting away from Avery Johnson. He's awesome. Whether he resigns or not is his decision, but I think he is. Nets are determined to make it happen, their future be damned.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 08:45 PM) This? YES! God that looks ugly.
  4. I'm surprised no one is talking about the three way trade expected to go down on Wednesday or Thursday. Lakers get: Joe Smith Houston gets: Terrance Williams New Jersey gets: Sasha Vujajic 1st Rounder from Houston 1st rounder from LA(IIRC) Sets them up really good for a Melo deal.
  5. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 14, 2010 -> 06:17 PM) Stay classy. San Diego. Anyway, I actually agree with Jordan4Life, not in those vulgar terms, but I also understand Cliff Lee feels he has a keeper and was willing to compromise. Now if the whole decision was up to his wife, then my opinion differs.
  6. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 11:23 PM) Clay is way better than Lackey. at staying healthy.
  7. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 11:12 PM) Ok, so what will it take for the Sox to fight against the Sawks or Phils? Honestly a good bullpen. I think the Sox have the best balance of the two teams. Philly has awesome starting pitching(not just great), but their bullpen is not better than ours and neither is their offense. Boston has a great offensive team now even without Beltre. Their starting pitching is questionable as well as their bullpen. I like Lackey alot still along with Lester. Beckett is a question mark. I'm not yet sold on Clay and Dice K is Bust K to me. The Sox just need to solidify their bullpens and I think they can compete. Also, Carlos Quentin will also have to improve. From there, I think the Sox have a damn good chance.
  8. It's up on mlb.com and phillies.com. I don't like Philly's offense though. Now we know why they want a Carlos Quentin.

    Winter...LOL

QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 12:42 PM) My wife and I have toyed with the idea of moving to Central Florida for about 9 months now. Our biggest hold back was my wife's family, we didnt want to "offend" her mother by "turning out back" on Iowa and "deserting" the family. Well, this morning my wife "jokingly" said "I may have to move somewhere warm." To our surprise, her mom said that sounded great, as long as we moved somewhere that's warm all year so they can come during the winter! The shackles are off! Florida, here we come! I'm jealous. I'm almost in the same situation, except my woman's mom puts ideas in her head that I'm going to leave her and she's not going to have any family near her at all. So my girlfriend believes it and refuses to entertain the idea of moving anywhere outside of the city. It really really really really sucks. I've been trying to convince her for about 6 months to move to Los Angeles/Anaheim area, Miami/Fort Lauderdale, or even San Diego to which the answer is always no. And the worse thing is, I think I get a case of seasonal depression from this stuff.
  10. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 08:00 AM) So has anyone ever had a girl break up with their boyfriend FOR you? Cuz i'm pretty sure that just happened last night and I'm not quite sure how to handle that. Kinda intimidating and a lot of pressure to be honest. Yes, but I think for myself, I put pressure on myself to be everything she wants when in reality, that backfires. At least that was the 2nd time. If I had just been myself it would've worked out. The first time, it was good, but I was myself too much, but I was young. I didn't care, I was very insensitive.
  11. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 06:58 AM) I think you have to keep your main recruiting base in Illinois, but building new ties to new places can never hurt. You gotta aim to get the best talent you can even if that means going out of state. That 2005 team had its main base from Illinois but solid non-Illinois players in Deron, Jack Ingram (though he transferred) and Nick Smith. Exactly. The only "real" miss on those was Shannon of those guys. Good kid from a school that just gave Illinois Dee Brown. Rose's shady recruiting and eligibility issues were a huge issue with him and Illinois. He was just never going to give Weber and Co. a legit chance, especially with his brother running point wanting all kids of s*** for a commitment. Davis is also a suspicious story. Truly whenever anyone commits to Kentucky I get curious. The big misses were Julian Wright, Jon Scheyer and Shannon over Weber's time. All three smart kids from non-CPS schools whose recruitment were legit. I agree about Rose, but everyone else were huge misses. Also Iman Shumpert to that list with Sherron collins. I thought Davis' school is private, just not really known at all. Either way, a Calipari recruit will always be fishy. And the point will always remain, go whereever you need to get the players you need. If Illinois had no pipeline in Illinois, but were consistently bringing in great recruits, I'd be happy with that.
  12. QUOTE (MHizzle85 @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 05:38 PM) *ahem* *points at avy* I think the big deal is that he did it right there on the field. That & it just looked silly. That's something you can do before the game, or in the locker room perhaps. As a Cowboys fan, I'm not upset. I laughed at it. It's more like he could of chosen a better time/place to do that. I'm a Cowboys fan as well and I do think it looked a little silly, but nothing I would be outraged by. And most players do it anyway. I remember tons of athletes on MTV Cribs having signed jerseys of other players. Choice says he did it for his nephew which is even more ultra cool.
  13. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 07:42 PM) They still had baggy tops back then, nothing like the tight Nike ones now. However UM started the black sock look in College bball, and people hated on that pretty hard. Always loved the black sock look. Looked fantastic and still does. In fact, I hate the white sock with black shoes look. Now that looks awful. I digress. The new fad nowadays looks pretty awful. The worse is the patterns on the trim of each uniform having like three different colors. It's hard to describe without a picture, but it looks ridiculously ugly.
  14. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 13, 2010 -> 07:01 PM) Bulls next games through Jan 8: Pacers @ Raptors Clippers 76ers @ Wizards @ Knicks @ Pistons Bucks Nets Cavs Raptors @ Nets @ 76ers Celtics . . . The Bulls record after this string of games might be pretty scary. But you know they'll blow games they shouldn't. It's just a matter of which ones.
  15. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 06:12 PM) Langford is a rare exception since he reached out to Weber initially (rather than vice versa), but Illinois should never look out of state unless it's eastern Missouri or Indiana. There's just no reason to. Disagreed. Heck, I can't think of many times where the #1 recruits even come out of Illinois. There was Rose, though Gordon and Mayo all switched. I think you go where ever you need to to get the recruit you need.
  16. I wouldn't care if the other team ran up the score because it's my fault for not stopping them. Everything you do, you should always be full throttle. Especially in sports. You shouldn't say, "slow down".
  17. QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 10:30 AM) Wasn't part of brad's drunken fight with Darrell about not ever going into duel/being whipped/frustration with Casey? Yes. Usually it's Darrell who starts things, but Brad was drunk and beligerent. He started talking about Darrell is afraid, he could demolish Darrell, he never goes into duels, how he would whoop him like his father and Darrell, though sober, had enough. Brad was slipping all over the place, and Darrell connected on a haymaker.
  18. Well it would stink, but at the same time, it would make things a whole lot easier. Resign Freddy or get Andrew Miller or take a flyer on another down on the luck starting pitcher. Free up space, and fill up that bullpen. Honestly, trading Buehrle is a better move than trading Quentin as it would be tough to find an everyday player who could replace his offense in my opinion. And this coming from someone who's not a fan of Quentin at all.
  19. Their ceiling came crashing down on their season - literally.
  20. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:35 AM) I highly doubt Weber promised playing time. He might have said Langford would have a great chance to come in and compete for early PT, but I guarantee he did not promise early PT. Not his MO. BTW, I have seen that quote you probably are referring to from Langford's coach in regard to the PT, but I have to assume the coach misunderstood Weber, so I am not bashing you. Yep If he really is like Penny Hardaway, I don't blame them for playing him off the bat.
  21. QUOTE (Athomeboy_2000 @ Dec 12, 2010 -> 09:56 AM) based on a bunch of tweets, it looks like there are two options for Viks/Giants: TCF Bank, home of UofMinn (problems: not ready for NFL and it's going to be very cold) Fold Field in Detroit (domed and has Fox camera eqipment there already) Who ever charges less and whoever gives more money to the NFL will be the selection.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 9, 2010 -> 11:23 AM) Tina was always with the top alliances, but yeah she never really did much physically. So much for a "heavy-hitter". Brad had been quite a little b**** this season. From not going into the gulag, to everything with Tori, and being upset that Camilia voted for him with a good reason, I always thought he was way tougher than he has shown on CutThroat. He's been like that for the past few challenges. I think it's their married life. I know they were having money problems at one time and Brad wanted to provide for Tori so she wouldn't worry. Now he's very sensitive about anything in these challenges.
  23. MGS4 was actually $10 at Toys R Us by where I work.
  24. QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 09:03 PM) I just like that someone actually stuck up for the guy for once. The cool thing to do seems to bash the heck out of him every time we're on TV, etc. No one ever points out the good things Pearl does for both the community and the university. Pearl does so many charitable things, but everyone wants to focus on this one, bad mistake he made. Of course, that's how the media is these days. The bad stuff sells. I'm not sure I'd call him a "victim" b/c when you mess up these days, you should expect it. But many in the media seem to care too much about this situation. This was an issue when it came out 6 months ago. The university is not firing him and that's that. Move on. Anyway, as far as penalties: 1) 7 games from SEC? - It's actually 8 (and you can expect more from the NCAA) 2) Reduce his salary by 10% - It was actually reduced by 50% for 3 years. That's pretty significant. 3) Take away some phone calls - Um, he can't leave campus to recruit for a year. He can't make any phone calls, travel to any games, make in-home visits, etc. That's all pretty harsh considering those are the self-imposed penalties (#2 & 3) and the SEC penalty (#1) so far. You can be sure the NCAA will come down the hardest, so I'd say when it's all said and done, he'll be very heavily penalized. Wow, take off the orange tinted goggles man. His penalties were not harsh in the least bit. Reduce a millionaire's salary to a millionaire's salary. Big whoop. 8 games from the SEC, that's not much at all. He can't leave campus to recruit. Don't mean he can't have his assistants do it for him. And I'm sure he'll try to bypass the laws by having his assistant call him when visiting a recruit and putting him on speakerphone. Then, you get no phone records. Tennessee's program should be placed on probation for him knowingly breaking the rules and for lying to the NCAA. And trust me, every college coach does charity work and all that jazz. It's part of representing their university. I've never seen a big program allow their coaches to recruit and do nothing else in the community or for the university, so you can kill that noise.
  25. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 11, 2010 -> 03:22 PM) Langford won't play much as a freshman, IMO. Bertrand isn't that good. Paul/Richardson/Richmond are the starters 1-3. And then there minutes to be won. Abrams/Henry are still freshman, so Crandall will have an edge on them assuming his head is on straight. That's the only way I see him leaving is because of academic issues. Apparently, that's what got him to committ to Illinois was the fact that he was promised PT. Apparently he was torn between Maryland and Illinois and Weber and Howard assured him of playing time if not a starter's role from everything I've heard.
