  1. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:31 PM) Maybe I'm confused. Then you're saying that package, assuming it's legit, would definitely be worth Mayo? And what do you mean broken wide open by Forman? It would be worth Mayo down the road. But the thing is, the league is a what have you done for me lately. Memphis has killed his value and all have entered an impasse in which they will have to deal him. They don't have the funds to pay him for what they're using him as. They already paid Conley and Gay. Gasol and Randolph will be looking for paydays and are much more needed for what they do. They drafted Xavier Henry and are trying out SG's. It's pretty clear, they have no intention on keeping him. As for the Bulls, they still need some type of bench. I would say I'd do the deal as constructed, but Memphis can only have one of Asik/Gibson, not both. And what I mean is that the Bulls would be a top contender in the East for awhile considering the age average of the team. Their future core has an average age of something like 23 or 24. That's nuts. Only team they'd have to deal with is Miami, but also remember, Wade will be breaking down.
  2. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:22 PM) I'm just wondering where you're getting the 3 inch vertical loss from? And if I'm understanding you correctly, you think Rose's lack of regard for attacking the basket is going to cost him in the long run where as Mayo's playing style allows for him to be much more durable in the future? I'll agree with you there, but that's something you deal with when it comes along. Rose's conditioning is impeccable, I think everyone will agree with that. But he's also one of the more physical PG's ever seen. Look at how long guys like Gary Payton and Derek Fisher have lasted though. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/morrissey/2...rying-wall.html And it's not that Rose goes in there with reckless abandon. He actually doesn't. His driving game is great in the regards that he is able to contort his body so he doesn't end up taking hard contact and still is able to make most of his ridiculous shots. It's a matter of his game being so relied on speed and quickness. When your knees are detoriorating that quickly, it's scary. I don't want to say it's a Brandon Roy situation, but still. You have to be concerned with it. The good thing is that he's constantly working on his game because he knows he won't always be able to outjump or outrun everyone.
  3. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:12 PM) The Jets might be the most overrated team in NFL history. ESPN declared them Super Bowl favorites for adding half of the 2002 Pro Bowl roster. It's f***ing ridiculous. The Bears HORRID offensive line demolished the Jets. Revis is legit though. And if I'm the Bears, I'd drool at the chance to add Marshall, Jackson or Ochocinco this offseason. I think as others have stated, the O-Line needs to be addressed first. Almost a complete overhaul.
  4. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:14 PM) I just think the reasons you cited in your argument are hilarious, that is all. I suppose. But every year since Mayo's rookie year, his usage % has gone down while his PER goes down. Two stats I think which are linked, especially for guys who should be high usage players. Guys like Dwayne Wade, Derrick Rose, Paul Pierce, Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, etc. Again, I have no problem admitting OJ has shown less thus far than Rose. A lot less. But you also have to understand their situations and how they're much much different. OJ may very well be overrated from his hype in high school. Rose is certainly a bigger star than anyone could've imagined. I'm glad Rose is on my favorite team. What would you like me to say?
  5. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:10 PM) Um, OK. lol. I don't agree with a thing you said here. But if you have a chance to get a 23-year old talent like Mayo in return for a couple role players and a draft pick, you do it. Rose/Mayo/Noah/Boozer sets you up quite nicely for a number of years. Not just 2011. You don't have to agree. Especially if the Bulls end up with Mayo. That would be a heck of a core, and the window for a championship would be broken wide open by Gar Forman for years to come.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) Randolph ought to be interesting as a FA> Agreed. He seems to have calmed down in Memphis. He's also as productive if not more. Too bad, there's no structure in Memphis. They don't have bad guys, they just have no direction. Tons of talent though. QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 04:06 PM) It's my opinion. If Memphis had drafted Rose and Chicago had drafted Mayo, I'd think both be in different positions right now. No doubt though, Rose has had arguably a HOF worthy start to his career. OJ has not. We gotta see what happens. Hopefully OJ can go to another team.
  7. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 12:27 AM) As much as I love the guy, it's the right move for the 49ers going forward. I was shocked at how emotionally volatile Singletary was in his tenure there. I assumed he would be much more stoic in his approach, but clearly he's a guy who wears his emotions on his sleeve. The instability at the qb position really hurt them, and that is trickling down to the rest of their offense with the failure to really develop Crabtree and Vernon Davis much more this season. There is no reason this team couldn't have been a "Jets-lite" sort of team this season, and yet they have been difficult to watch and atrocious more than not. I'm sure Mike will catch on somewhere else, although I doubt as a coordinator. Probably going to have to go back to a linebacker's coach somewhere, unless he wants to drop down to the college ranks. Come to think of it, maybe that would be where he was better off anyways...where he could really have an impact on young kids before they get spoiled and corrupted by all the money and the NFL lifestyle. I agree it was the right move. And they really need a QB, badlyyyyy. Without one, they're delaying the development of both Crabtree and Davis as you stated. They have talent all around.
  8. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 12:24 PM) I dunno. Marshall will cost a lot in price and draft picks whereas V-Jack and Ocho (likely) will be free agents and not require a pick. For the Bears sake, I think it would be smarter to go after Ocho or Vjack. Much smarter. With that said, I don't see them getting either one.
  9. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 03:54 PM) This shocks me coming from you. Weren't you the one that said the Bulls should've taken Mayo over Rose or that he was the better prospect? Yes. But at the same time, everyone knows Memphis must trade him. They're benching him and killing his value. Even when he's the only option available, they let him get hot, then bench him immediately almost to make sure nobody sees how good he is or can be. It's weird. It's happened about 3 times this year alone. And to be fair, I'd still take Mayo over Rose back then only because I believe Mayo's game will translate better as they get older. Rose on the other hand is already having health problems. It's not good when you have tendinitis in your knees and have lost 3 inches off your vertical within 3 years.
  10. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 02:18 PM) Yes. Anthony to the Knicks would definitely complicate matters. I disagree about Bynum. I don't know how any team would touch him. And the Lakers are going to hit a slump once Kobe ultimately declines or retires. Blake Griffin and Eric Gordon is about as good a 1-2 punch to build around in the game aside from Durant and Westbrook. But they're still the Clippers. I think Bledsoe will be a nice player for them as well. Honestly, they need DeAndre to pan out, or to trade him, Kaman and a pick for a legit big prospect. I do see the Lakers starting to decline sooner than we think. The Bulls could become great and one Miami whooping away from a championship with Mayo and they'd have a much wider window. New York needs Carmelo. Without him, they're stuck in the worst position possible. Good enough to win consistently, but not enough for a championship. Which means, they're going to have to pick from the bottom of the draft.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 03:23 PM) The Grizzlies have Marc Gasol and Hasheem Thabeet as their Centers, with Zach Randolph and Darrell Arthur as their PF's, and someone named Hamed Haddadi as their 3rd C. Randolph's contract is huge and expiring, Gasol is not under contract next year but they may have his rights as well. The other guys are young, of the sort that they might not be thrilled to move. Thabeet's salary is about $5 million, Arthur and Haddadi are around $1 million. Haddadi is decent, but Memphis never took the time to develop him. BTW, he's onl his way to being locked up. They actually have a nice big rotation, but a lot of their guys are having their deals due up. I believe Randolph and Gasol are coming up soon. Gasol is a lock to stay, Zach, not so much. For as much as I love Mayo, I would not give up Asik, Taj, and the Bobcats pick for him. it's 2 of the 3 and that's it.
  12. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 09:58 PM) Unless you already lost root there's no reason to accept the OTA update. Any update provided by Sprint will be provided in rooted format to flash within a day or two. I kept it rooted and just read all of XDA. So now I know what I'm doing. I'm glad too. My battery alone lasts a lot longer without calibration.
  13. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 24, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) You will lose root if you install an over the air update. Is there a way to get it back? Do I just use UnrEVOked again?
  14. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 07:13 PM) No don't unroot! There are a ton of threads on XDA to help you along. Which phone do you have? This is from the EVO subforum but should apply to any android phone. I have an Evo. Also, I got a system update available. Do I install it? I know androids software updates will break it.
  15. Does he even post here anymore. I haven't seen him around in awhile. Happy Birthday anyway though.
  16. QUOTE (MuckFinnesota @ Dec 23, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) I don't know of a more appropriate place to post my fantasy dilemma, so I'm posting it here. I'm in the championship game and have to decide what I want to do with a few questionable positions. They are as follows: RB1: Peyton Hillis is the starter. I've heard from several outlets that he is going to have a crappy game this week because Baltimore is out to get him for what Hillis did in week 3. My alternatives are not that great (Ricky Williams vs. DET, Shonn Greene @CHI, R. Bush @ATL, Rashad Jennings vs. Washington and Donald Brown @OAK), but I have considered playing Brown or Jennings, even if they won't have breakout weeks. Still, I think Hillis is the solid starter with the following league statistics: 20 rushing yards per point, 20 receiving yards per point, 1 fumble loss = -2 points and 1 TD = 6 pts. Who would you start? TE: Aaron Hernandez is the starter. I also have Brent Celek on my bench, who is facing Minnesota. Gronkowski might have another good week so I was a bit hesitant with Hernandez, but Hernandez also had 2 TD's last week. Owen Daniels is also in free agency. Should I stick with Hernandez or start Daniels/Celek? (20 receiving yards per point, 1 fumble loss = -2 points and 1 TD = 6 pts.) W/R: Dwayne Bowe hasn't had breakout games as I had hoped over the past few weeks, but I was able to muscle my way into the championship game. Should I start Bowe or D. Brown, maybe even Jacoby Jones? Keep in mind this is not a PPR league and the same stats still apply. f***in' Mike Thomas, why did you have to score tonight? Jonathan Stewart also needs to fumble already...I thought the Steelers could play defense! I'd say stick with Hillis. He's why you have gone this far. I'm guessing you're doing ESPN Fantasy Football. I lost last week against a guy who put up 300. He only put up 170 the week before but my buddy couldn't get the job done. Either way, I'd also start Hernandez. Celek has been awful this year. Mainly because with Vick, Philly looks for the deep ball or will pass over the middle to his WR's because they're faster and more likely to get YAC. I'd say Jacoby Jones would be a nice sleeper pick. Bowe gained some chemistry with Cassel, but who knows if it'll show this week. Just my opinion. Don't go all "The League" on if the predictions don't work out as planned.
  17. I've rooted my phone, but never found tips on what to do so after rooting it. How do I put a different ROM on it? I might just unroot my phone.
  18. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 22, 2010 -> 03:46 PM) In baseball, I'd be surprised to see 40% (low end of your estimate) to 50% (high end of your estimate) of "top prospects" "max out". Sure, some will be good, maybe one "maxes out" and the rest wind up as role players/relievers/AAAA fodder. Until they prove to have turned the corner as an organization in developing "can't miss" players, I won't get too worked up about the "potential" of the perennially s***ty Kansas City Royals. You have to understand, Dayton Moore is the GM and he's been spending his whole time on the draft. You will see several of these guys pop up within 1-2 years with maybe 2 of them in 3 years. I'm not afraid of the Royals presently, but Moore has done a hell of a job obtaining prospects.
  19. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 05:51 PM) so if we are pissed at Dilfer for calling the bears and cutler pathetic, when we all heard it, we should accept that as valid criticism otherwise we follow the team blindly? This is valid criticism in your world nite? In case you havent noticed throughout the course of this argument, everyone is conceding that Cutler still is not a polished quarterback and has issues. We recognize that, and nobody is ripping on Young and Dilfer for pointing those issues out. The problem is that their criticisms were overwhelming their praises, and this was after Cutler had another 100+ QB rating game with 3 touchdowns and 1 boneheaded INT, which very well could have been negated with a helmet to helmet hit by the CB. It wasnt selective hearing by me. I heard the praises as well, but I also heard about how bad Cutler was and how brave Favre was the entire postgame. If i just listened to them and didnt know the score I would have thought the bears lost the game. If it's valid criticism, it's valid criticism, no matter what the source is. It's no longer valid if it's untrue. Did Young or Dilfer say anything last night that is untrue?
  20. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 05:05 PM) BTW Re: Cutler criticism, the thing with me is that Dilfer especially goes out of his way to criticize anything Cutler does. I'm not sure if anyone noticed but Cutler had a... umm pretty good game last night but they railed on his footwork for like 5 minutes. We know Cutler has s***ty mechanics, and yes that criticism specifically is valid, but he's in his 3rd offense in 3 seasons (is there even another QB in the NFL that's had this happen?) and for a large part of this year has carried the entire offense on his back (with some help from Forte). This offseason, when he's in his second season in the same system for once, he's going to have more time to work with Martz on his footwork. To me it's just really irritating, when the Bears lose a game Cutler blows and it's "I-told-you-so" from the same crowd whether it was his fault or not, when they win and he dominates the same crowd find specific reasons to not give him any credit. Most of it is just dumb. Cutler says he's concerned that players might get injured on a frozen field and someone writes a whole article about how he's not a leader. People talk about how many interceptions he throws when he's not even in the top(bottom) 10 in that category. Granted, to some degree this is expected, Aaron Rodgers was taking completely-undeserved s*** from people for absolutely no reason in his first year starting (who, btw, hasn't "won" any playoff games either). I manage to ignore this most of the time but it ends up in front of my face pretty often and me, and others, responding to it is what you see. The people who are attacking Dilfer, Young and any other ESPN columnist with valid criticism are the same people who criticize Cutler. But since the Bears just won the game, injured Brett Favre, and won the division, the fans don't want to hear anything negative. 5 bucks says if the Bears do something positive and Dilfer and Young praise them, you guys will say "Too late ahats, we don't need no credit from you anyway" or "Now, you're jumping on the bandwagon, huh". I liken it to Adrian Woj and LeBron James. He tells it like it is. People take that as hate to LeBron when it's not. Then when Woj writes a positive article about LeBron then he's criticized for jumping on his coattails.
  21. QUOTE (lostfan @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 05:06 PM) Last night right after the game ended I thought I heard him say "Cutler was brilliant" but that's about it. The rest of it was basically "why Jay Cutler will never amount to s*** as a QB in the NFL" (exaggerating, but only a little) By alot. It was said, until Cutler gets consistent with his mechanics, he'll never reach the elite level or reach his peak.
  22. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 04:56 PM) Cutler has bad footwork and throwing mechanics. Those are valid criticisms. He threw an absolutely boneheaded INT last night. Valid criticism. But he also fit two balls into really small windows last night for TDs. The pass to Davis was a laser and I don't think many QBs in the league could make that throw. Young and Dildo only mentioned his bad throw for an INT and mentioned none of the good stuff. I don't have a problem with Dildo criticizing Cutler for the bad as long as he recognizes the good. I rarely, if ever, hear Dildo praise Cutler's positive plays. That annoys me. Selective hearing. Both mentioned, especially Dilfer how he can fit it through tight windows, how he's able to make throws in any weather and has elite ability. Young went on to say "Don't listen to me, look at the greats" and started mentioning Brady and a bunch of other great QB's with good mechanics. One of them stated Cutler can be in that category if he ever works on it.
  23. Also, about following your team blindly. That's different than listening to valid criticisms regarding your team. Steve Young, Trent Dilfer, and Matt Hasselbeck all gave valid criticisms of the Bears. And they're not buying the Bears as being real. Let's put it this way. We all root for the Sox blindly. No matter who's our GM, owner, manager, players, we're going to support them. At the same time, a guy like Mark Teahan, who we support and hope the best for him, kind of stinks. He has holes in his swing and he's not great defensively. Now though we'll cheer him and root for him as hard as we can, we all know his criticisms are valid. For whatever reason, 95% of Bears fans don't act like that when it comes to the Bears. Only Lovie Smith for some dumb reason.
  24. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:42 PM) When Cutler wins a single playoff game in the NFL, he will start getting more respect from these types -- and not until. I love Cutler, he plays hard and takes risks, and he's fun to watch because of these things...but in the NFL, he's proven absolutely nothing yet, to pretend or to say otherwise is false. This has always been my problem with Bears fans and their general arrogance that they get from who knows where. They're so easy to dislike because they have that "Cub" like mentality that they're the most awesomeist thing ever when in fact, they aren't. They want praise for everything their team does, but don't like to give praise to anyone else. When they win on a fluke play, it's part of the game, when they lose, it's not because the other team beat them, it's because they didn't show up, or some other such nonsense. I don't apply this mentality to all Bears fans, either...but there are the many, as I like to put it, 'Da Bers" fans...and this is directed at you if you're amongst them. QUOTE (Y2HH @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) Jokes aside, and I'm sure many Bears fans are happy to see Favre go, making fun of or hoping for a person to get/become physically injured is never...funny. This is exactly what I'm talking about with Bears fans acting their finest. It's not enough that they beat Favre the majority of the end of his career, it's not enough that they beat Favre 40-14 yesterday...it's picking this as their favorite moment, or wishing injury upon him that makes me dislike Bears fans. Those other things should be enough...but they aren't. I despise that mentality in sports. It embodies everything we learned to NOT do in sports as kids...and doing it as an adult...and laughing about it. Thank you!
  25. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 21, 2010 -> 12:05 AM) I don't like his attitude either, and despite owning his jersey, I kind of think Jay is a giant douche. But I don't know the guy, and he is not my friend. Last I checked, he isn't Dilfer's friend either. But you're right...both he and Young can't seem to be objective about him. I wonder if there is anything personal there, in terms of meeting at some function or something. Steve Young isn't objective? He's blindly hates Jay Cutler? Okay, I really want to hear your evidence for such claims. Steve Young didn't even blast the guy last night, or come close. Take off the goggles Bears fans, he was being objective about your QB. He simply stated, Jay has the ability to make all the throws, can get it in the tightest of spaces and can become great. But in order for him to enter that elite realm, he needs to watch his footwork and develop consistentcy with solid mechanics. Until then, he's always going to be where he's at. He even said, "Don't take it from me, watch the great QB's. Look at guys like Tom Brady and his footwork" and he named some others. Are you telling me, you don't want Jay to be great or elite? Because he's not either right now. And I doubt he's going to lead the Bears to the SuperBowl. Heck, I think they'll lose their first game in the playoffs. And Trent, though a little more strong about it, said basically the same thing. He even went on to say, he has a great ability to throw through any conditions, that's how great of an athlete is, then continued to break down video of what Steve Young was stating. He even goes on to say that Jay had better tools than him and he wishes he had Jay's abilities. So please, stop saying anyone who gives valid criticism of the Bears is an idiot, because it makes you as fans look idiotic.
