  1. QUOTE(The Critic @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 12:32 PM) OMG, I'm sorry you guys, but I'd rather punch myself in the face 600 times than watch a Grateful Dead/Pink Floyd cover band. Two of my least favorite bands ever......I honestly can't find ONE song I like between the two groups. If you go, have a great time, I mean that sincerely. But I would NEVER. Out of curiousity who do you like than?
  2. QUOTE(Sox1422 @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 11:29 AM) I've spent a lot of time up there and the Rave is the only place I ever went to for shows. http://www.therave.com/calendar.asp Looks like Dark Star is playing on the 2nd. They are a Greatful Dead coverband. Last time I saw them they did an encore that consisted of the entire Dark Side of the Moon album by Pink Floyd. Dark Star is better than the Dead are now. Ive seen them three times in the last year, one of my friends is cousins with one of the drummers. They rock. Went backstage once, funny experience.
  3. QUOTE(Gene Honda Civic @ Mar 4, 2005 -> 03:55 AM) no Than there is no more money that they could possibly throw towards another starting pitcher. Especially one who will command around 10 mil. If I not mistaken, Garland is the only one who is signed only through this year. Does he hit FA after this year or still arbitration eligible? But I'm getting way to far ahead of myself. Go White Sox!! Haha, lets win a spring training game
  4. Does Contreras come off the books next year?
  5. QUOTE(maggsmaggs @ Mar 3, 2005 -> 08:58 PM) I am going, don't know where the seats are but going and also checking out Wisconsin-Madison for college. That will be fun. HELL YEAH!!! GO BADGERS!!! Once you come to Madison you won't be able to leave! Check out State St. check out down on Lakeshore, go walking on the lake. Come back to campus though when its warm and everythings alive. Than you will truly see how great the neighbor to the north is. And we are the #1 college sports town in America!
  6. That's an odd group for Frank to be a part of
  7. How can I not go? Its one of the few times I get to see the Sox while Im at school in Wisconsin. I just never feel like Im at a baseball game when Im at Miller Park. But, $5 bleachers and the Sausage race, makes it well worth it.
  8. Pods definately is trying to make it seem like the trade was worth it. 4-4 2 SB, not to bad. Than again, it is spring training
  9. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 28, 2005 -> 12:55 PM) Any idea if ESPN will broadcast the games online? ESPN1000 doesn't broadcast games online, at least regular season I am sure, stupid blackout rules. I recommend XM radio for those out of towners.
  10. QUOTE(soxhawks @ Feb 27, 2005 -> 09:57 PM) curses are for pussy ass cub fans Couldn't have said it any better myself!
  11. If your last name is Molina are you destined to be a catcher? How many Molinas are there, and every single one of them catches.
  12. Does it seem to anyone else that all Ozzie and KW have been doing lately is hyping up Adkins? Anyone else see that as a sign that Adkins may be as good as gone. Trying to hype his value before they trade him?
  13. I have to agree that the Raiders and Chiefs definately deserve to be called one of the greatest rivalries. I went to a Chiefs Raiders game at Arrowhead, Chiefs fans rival Bears fans for best in the league. The atmosphere at that game was just intense, and as always, a battle.
  14. I figured I'd throw out a few more fact or fictions, if that's cool with everyone... Fact or Fiction -- The five starters that will start the season (Buehrle, Garcia, Garland, Contreras, Hernandez) will combine for 70 or more wins. Fact - But not much more 70-73 wins most likely. (MB + FG ~ 36, JG 14, OH 12, JC 15) Fact or Fiction -- Iguchi will post numbers (talking BA and OBP exclusively) better than Kaz Matsui did last season (.272/.331). Faction? - I see the BA being right around .272 with the OBP hopefully a little bit higher Fact or Fiction -- Joe Crede will rebound from last season, hit above .260 and hit 20+ homers. Fact - I see Crede hitting .265 with 25 homers and 80 RBIs, solid production from the 8 spot Facto or Fiction -- AJ Pierzynski will post numbers better than his personal best season of 2003 (.312/.360, 11 HR, 74 RBIs). Fact and Fiction - His homeruns and BA should be higher (.315, 18-20 HR) but his RBI production will be down (65-70 RBIs)
  15. With half price mondays and two for one tuesdays along with a 9-game ticket plan how can you not make it to close to 20-25 games. Plus on a good day you can fly down 55 and make it there in like 25-30 minutes! Lets hope their record is better this year than last when I was there!
  16. That was hilarious, last summer when him and Hawk got into Reali would always say that just to piss Mariotti off. Around the Horn and PTI are great shows
  17. Does anyone think that is just a PR line or do you think he's serious? Do you think that Maggs would have really accepted arbitration?
  18. QUOTE(JUGGERNAUT @ Feb 6, 2005 -> 11:56 AM) The naysayers are missing the point completely. Pods + Iggy - speed Dye + Koney + Everett OR Thomas + Koney + Dye - power Rowand + Uribe - speed AJ + Crede - power It doesn't matter whether Koney, AJ, Thomas, & Crede are slow. What matter is the mix the speed & power. It does 2 things for: 1 - stretches weak hits w RISP into runs 2 - reduces GIDPs 3 - puts more pressure on pitches & middle IFers But since you are so hell bent on the subject here are the players as they rank speed wise: 1-Pods 2-Iggy 3-Rowand 4-Uribe 5-Dye 6-Crede/Everett 7-Thomas/Crede 8-AJP 9-Koney There is better speed on the bench: Timo > Dye Gload > Crede Davis > Rowand Harris > Rowand The team is deep when it comes to both pinch hitting & running. AJP a power guy? Timo > Dye? Davis as in Big Ben Davis > Rowand? I don't even think lines and lines of stats can get you anywhere near enough evidence to prove those right.
  19. That might have been one of the worst articles I have ever read. We offered him 5 million less than what hes making now. So Couch simply talks to Magglio and assumes he isn't "speaking the company line" by saying that he wanted to stay in town. . . Seems pretty bad reporting to go to only one side of the story. Well this article has alreaedy gotten enough badmouthing from me, its not even worth the words I used to berate it.
  20. QUOTE(3E8 @ Jan 31, 2005 -> 10:28 PM) Naperville pride. Hell Yeah Naperville. Never been so proud to be a Napervillian!
  21. Does anyone remember when they did the extra commentary on SAP on FSN with just three Sox fans doing it? Do you know if Comcast has any plans to do that again?
  22. This is what I see the 25 man roster looking like at the beginning of the season, I wish that there was room for Burke but I just don't see it happening. 25 man Roster: Rotation: Buehrle Garcia Hernandez Contreras Garland Bullpen: Takatsu Marte Hermanson Vizcaino Politte Cotts Catchers: Pierz Davis Infielders: Konerko Iguchi Uribe Crede Gload Harris Osuna/Valdez Outfielders: Pods Rowand Dye Perez Everett
  23. How can anything beat the Come On Timo with the oh so fast looking but oh so slow footed Timo hunkering around the basepaths! YES!
  24. QUOTE(SEALgep @ Jan 16, 2005 -> 05:33 PM) I'm fine with Uribe at number 2, but I would like to see Rowand 3 or 5 then. Rowand would be in a better spot to drive in runs. Something to keep in mind, with Pods on first, Uribe is bound to see a lot of fastballs, something he's proven he can pound. Plus the fact that he can bunt pretty well. I have to defer to Ozzie on this one, and it is nice that someone finally mentioned something besides stats. With Uribe batting behind Podsednik it makes sense to get a fast ball hitter there. Also, there is a lot more to setting a lineup than just saying oh player A has a xxx OBP and player B has yyy OBP. That's why we aren't all managers of baseball teams. Its pretty obvious that some people on this board have never played baseball past little league, there is more to it than just #s.
  25. My favorite Billy Koch quote of the offseason, from SI.com:
