  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 02:31 PM) I'm saying that those three guys pitched in the bullpen for one year, yet they were still fine with becoming a starter the following year. I know what you are saying, but Price was brought up during the stretch run in 2008, made a total of 9 appearances from the pen, and was sent back to the minors the following year to continue to start. Exactly what some want Sale to do.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 01:54 PM) I think that Mark Buehrle, Adam Wainwright, and David Price turned out okay. Price does not belong. His situation is what some are wanting.
  3. As long as we see this in 365 days: @ChuckGarfien Chuck Garfien Kenny Williams makes it official. Chris Sale will start the season in the rotation. in 365 days via txt
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Feb 17, 2011 -> 07:28 AM) He gets a raw deal because that low .800's OPS is barely enough production to offset the terrible job he did defensively in RF. And the games missed that force the Sox to play guys like Teahen in RF. Forget the statistical projection for Carlos, if he can play 150 games, the season was a victory for him.
  5. Keepers: Hanley Ramirez Joey Votto Shin-Soo Choo or Arod Adam Wainwright C.C. Sabathia If someone wants Choo or Arod, I'd package them together for an upgrade.
  6. Signed up. What were keepers again? 2 hitters, 2 pitchers, 1 of either?
  7. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Feb 11, 2011 -> 05:40 PM) Eh, that division still isn't all that great. They get into the playoffs and those top 3 can certainly carry you to another title. I sure as hell wouldn't bet on them to repeat but if they do indeed get back to the playoffs, they'll certainly have a shot. Didn't even mentioned Jonathan Sanchez who is much better than Bumgarner, at this point. Only the Phillies can match their 1-4, and even they can't match the Giants' pen. I think the Giants have a good chance to play the Phillies for the NL pennant. At that point, who knows what happens.
  8. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 05:52 PM) Here is an article about Bear baying, which is legal in South Carolina. Because its legal that means its okay, even though its like dog fighting. So yeah hunting bears is a good thing, but dog fighting is bad. Come on. To be fair to hunters, that's a very uncommon form of hunting, and not the form of hunting that people think about when they hear the word. I am sure A LOT of hunters are against such forms of the act.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 03:01 PM) Sort of like chicken before factory farming started. Oh please. Chickens also produce eggs which humans eat millions of each and every day.
  10. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Feb 10, 2011 -> 02:14 PM) Your saying that there is no way to compare a murderer who is a torture murderer versus some one who is just a murderer. There's an emotion distinction here. Vick's and all dog fighters' pleasure comes from the emotional and physical torture that is inflicted on the animals as well as the violent imagery of the fight. They need to see the dog suffer to receive any pleasure from the situation. To me, there's a clear difference.
  11. I'm excited to see Morrow this season. At times, he looked as dominant as anyone in the league last year. I think he's going to do big things. The M's just jerked him around for years...The Jays should take the leash off of him next season (they shut him down to protect him last season).
  12. I like Texas in the AL West. That offense is fantastic w/ a solid bullpen. The rotation should play up within a division with seriously offensively challenged clubs.
  13. I'd love for Rios to bat leadoff with Pierre 9. I'll never be in favor of giving the most PA to one of the team's least productive hitters.
  14. Not really a battle in my eyes. Milledge is the clear favorite. With his ability to hit LHP, he's a perfect fit to take some ABs from Pierre and Dunn vs tough LHP.
  15. QUOTE (He_Gawn @ Feb 1, 2011 -> 04:51 PM) Watford probably done for the year with a broken hand. IU now has 3 starters out. Can't wait to see more walkons..... Just read about this. Sucks big time. Watford is one of the best players in the conference.
  16. If the Tigers can get average production from their #3-5, they'll be very dangerous. IMO, they have the best hitter, the 2 best SP, and the best bullpen in the division. But ultimately will come down to Penny and Porcello.
  17. When Indiana keeps their in-state talent, they're elite. They haven't done that in years, and that's been the problem. Now, Crean is locking up that talent. You can win championships at Indiana if you keep the in-state talent.
  18. As long as he doesn't go crazy with the fouls, I don't mind, in fact, I would hope Asik/Thomas uses all 6 fouls on Dwight. Shaq's had better seasons from the line than Dwight has been having....
  19. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 06:32 PM) What's the difference? Gallardo strikes me as someone who puts undue pressure on himself. Now he doesn't have to be "the guy." Plus, for fantasy purposes, he will no longer be going up against the other team's ace.
  20. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 02:53 PM) I'm a big fan of both of those guys, especially Hanson. I'd still go with Gallardo. Personally, I think Bumgarner is a tick below the others. I'd put Latos ahead of him as well. I'm with you on Gallardo as well. Moving from the "ace" position down to #2, Gallardo is going to be a fantasy monster.
  21. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jan 28, 2011 -> 03:00 PM) I'm almost positive that under Law's system Dayan isn't eligible for his list. He no longer has prospect status. I believe in his prospect chat he states that Dayan is a DH that doesn't walk, but if learns some patience, look out. He also notes his impressive raw power. Methinks people are just looking for more reason to dislike Mr. Law. Yeah. Viciedo was #7 last season, so I find it hard to believe Law would just drop him off the list unless he was ineligible.
  22. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jan 18, 2011 -> 07:31 PM) I think it's best to just wait until the 10 days are over and try to sign him as a free agent. I gotta think someone will trade for him... Though I doubt the Tigers would send him to the Sox. They'll have options.
  23. I just feel like Orlando threw a lot of s*** against the wall and it stuck for 11 games. Now they've lost 3 of the last 4. Tough/close games, but that 11 game win streak was a bit of a mirage in my eyes.
