White Sox Sign Dunn
If we re-sign Pauly, you better go over slot in the next draft Jerry.

White Sox Sign Dunn
Just sign DLee and take the 2 comp picks for Pauly. Save the cash and spend it on the swiss cheese pen.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 05:35 PM) What the hell is a "purely NL hitter"? Ha.

White Sox Sign Dunn
QUOTE (scotty22hotty @ Dec 2, 2010 -> 05:34 PM) Not really excited about this... but if Jerry is raising the payroll, then okay it's a good signing at best. Hes a purely NL hitter with horrible OF defense (granted he just moved to 1B last year) that strikes out ~33% of the time for 14M a year (4 years too O_O) If this is Kenny's only "big" signing AND hes lets Konerko walk then I am disappoint. Would rather have Konerko at 28/2 than Dunn at 56/4... Might as well sign a couple more type As as the 23rd pick is gone. What is a purely NL hitter?

2010-11 MLB Offseason Catch-All
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 08:42 PM) I imagine he is trying to reach that 300-win plateau....I think he's at 274 now. I doubt it. He wants to pad his HR allowed record.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-gilbertlebron120110 Dan Gilbert is investing in his own probe against the Heat and tampering. This is going to be priceless. I can't wait to see how the NBA reacts to the rock-solid case that Gilbert and friends build. Feel it LeBron, it's coming...

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 1, 2010 -> 01:59 PM) On the radio this morning one of the reports said he was told that Boozer would play 7-8 minutes blocks at the start of each half, plus a short stint besides that in each of the other quarters Since it was just a hand injury, Boozer's conditioning should be in pretty good shape. Just gotta shake the rust off.

White Sox Sign Dunn
I really think the play here is to take the picks for Konerko and give 1 year deals to DLee and/or Berkman. Good chance they reach at least type B status next season, maybe A. Then make a play for one of the big FA 1B next season. We need to influx of young talent desperately, and by letting Konerko go and signing the one or both of the others, you gain 3-6 1st/2nd rd draft picks. I think Lee and Berkman will both post at least .850 OPS seasons.

Rockies Interested in Floyd?
Fowler was rated ahead of Gordon in various publications (i.e. BA) before they lost their prospect status in 2009. He's supremely talented. Let's not pick apart a player's splits after less than 2 years in the bigs at age 23 and 24. Kind of silly. Especially when that split you are using improved greatly from his rookie year to his second year (K rate away from home).

Rockies Interested in Floyd?
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2010 -> 11:15 PM) Fowler's OPS is .221 better at Coors for his career. A strikeout machine and a 4th OF for a guy who makes hardly any coin. KW can do better than that, and I don't even like Gavin Floyd. Ha, I love how some view other team's 24-25 year old high talent players vs how Gordon is viewed around here. It's absurd really.

Juan Uribe Is About To Get Paid...
Given 500+ AB, Juan will hit 20+ HR regardless of the stadium. AT&T Park was not a homer friendly park in any sense, in fact, even less homer friendly than Dodger Stadium last season. Solid signing for a team in need of some power.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 11:53 PM) Still don't like the Noah extension. But he has definitely become a pleasure to watch. And Rose? Wow. PG play all around the league is just amazing right now. Paul, Williams, Westbrook, Rondo, Rose. The NBA definitely is getting what they wanted when they blatantly altered the rules to cater to guards/wings. How can you not like the extension?

I love this team. Now only if we could upgrade the 2 position. I can't watch Bogans start the whole year.

Konerko thread
QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Nov 27, 2010 -> 04:50 PM) That's a lot of reverting That's pretty much what he was the previous 3 years until this miraculous career year at age 34.

Rockies Interested in Floyd?
If true, the organization really must not feel Morel is the answer at 3B. First trading for and extending Teahen and now thinking about trading their biggest trade chip for a 3B. I am a big Stewart guy, though. I would not be opposed to acquiring him in the least. If he can shake the minor bumps and bruises he always seems to get, he'll be big time.

2010-2011 NBA Thread
Would have been nice if Korver could hit a shot tonight. 10 total bench points for the Bulls. It'll be nice to have Taj coming off the bench soon.

White Sox offer arbitration to Konerko, Putz.
Lots of anger in this thread over a 34 year old platoon catcher that's not very good.
-
Tigers sign Victor Martinez 4yr/$50m
The Tigers really like Alex Avila who is one of the better young catching prospects in the game. In fact, his father is the Tigers' assistant GM. I really don't think V-Mart will be catching substantially going forward.

BA releases White Sox top 10
QUOTE (DirtySox @ Nov 22, 2010 -> 04:48 PM) He shouldn't be compiling the list period. Phil Rogers is horrible. Yeah that too. It's like BA is just dismissing the system entirely because it's so bad.
-
BA releases White Sox top 10
I hate how Phil Rogers does the chat every year. Can't someone from BA actually do it?
-
Tony Pena or Brandon McCarthy?
McCarthy's not getting a ML deal from anyone. Plus, his stuff hasn't been the stuff we saw pre-injuries. If the choice in between the 2, it's definitely Pena.

Execs believe Grienke will be dealt
I'd say when BA comes out with their top 100 list, you'll see 3 prospects in the top 10, 7 in the top 50, and 9 in the top 100. That'd be before the Greinke and Soria trades.
-
Execs believe Grienke will be dealt
I would deal both if I were the Royals. They could be Tampa Bay-esq in 3 years. Adding the elite pieces in return for Greinke and Soria to Moustakas, Hosmer, Butler, Myers, Montgomery, Lamb, Duffy, Dwyer, Colon...Scary.

Sox Listening on Gavin?
Sox asked the Rockies about Ian Stewart.

Should the Sox go young?
I'm not as optimistic about our staff as others, but we might as well go at least one more year. It'd be nice for Buehrle and Jackson to pitch well to reach type A status so we can offer Jackson arbitration and possible have a gentleman's agreement with Buehrle to decline arbitration once we offer it. That'd certainly help kick start a youth movement if we went that way.
