  1. The Bulls have beaten Boston and Miami in this easy stretch of games, albeit without Garnett and LBJ. Still good wins considering all teams where missing an all-star.
  2. QUOTE (Felix @ Jan 17, 2011 -> 09:41 PM) Hollinger's rankings would disagree. Actually, I agree with the Hollinger's rankings. Orlando is slightly better than Chicago without one of Boozer or Noah playing. That's basically what the Hollinger rankings tell ya. Although, I would say using Hollinger rankings in these two cases are absolutely ridiculous considering Orlando is a new team after the trades and Chicago has been playing without an all-star big man all season.
  3. Orlando is not better than the Bulls. That is hogwash.
  4. I wouldn't mind a deal like this if it was Joba+, and then turn around and re-sign Freddy. But granted, I'm not as confident in Edwin as a lot of people seem to be. I think Joba could thrive outside of New York.
  5. It's more concerning to me that he's 6-6, 175 lbs. He needs to get stronger. It'd be encouraging to see him at 190 before the season starts.
  6. If this means they are going to groom Sale as a SP this year, then I'm all for it.
  7. I wonder if Cashner will still move back into the rotation. I kind of wanted to see that.
  8. Also, Archer isn't the clear #1 prospect for the Cubs. Baseball America has him #1, but Hardball Times has him #2, Sickels has him #3, and Baseball Prospectus has him #3 (4/5 stars).
  9. On Sportscenter, Buster said that talking to scouts/talent evaluators, they didn't think the Cubs gave up any "high end, high talent" guys. I think maybe Archer is being underrated, but many feel he ends up a closer.
  10. More than one publication compares Archer to everyone's friend here, Edwin Jackson. I like the deal for the Cubs.
  11. Edwin put up good numbers with the Sox but the teams he faced were sort of a joke. (DET 4 times, BAL 2 times, CLE 2 times, KC once, OAK once, and an injury riddle BOS team once). Hopefully he turned a corner, but I remain highly skeptical.
  12. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 06:52 PM) Two things change that situation. Number one he spent time as a member of the White Sox organization as an employee, and he had access to the team that way. He also apparently had a social relationship with Jenks outside of the clubhouse. If his information comes from one of those two sources, Ozzie isn't responsible for it at all. I agree with that. Now, going forward, now that Oney is not employed, Ozzie assumes responsibility for the information that he subjects Oney to. After all, it's Ozzie's and ONLY Ozzie's choice for Oney to be around the team.
  13. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 05:17 PM) This a great point. If Ozzie is responsible for Oney, many of the people in this thread need to be putting their mommy's and daddy's in this thread so we can talk to your responsible party's. As long as Ozzie doesn't allow Oney to be privy to personal, private information within the White Sox organization, then he is not responsible. However, that's not the case here, and probably won't be. Imagine you brought your son into work with you and into a private meeting. He then tweets important private company information. You are absolutely responsible for that regardless if your son is 2, 25, or 60 years old.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 30, 2010 -> 10:28 AM) Players arent message board hounds that read everything and care about everything on the internet. I think you have them mistaken with fans. I know a player that hasnt picked up a news paper in over 5 years. They dont care as much as you think they do. When fellow players' dirty laundry is aired, they care.
  15. QUOTE (scenario @ Dec 29, 2010 -> 10:36 AM) I may be in the minority, but I don't think Jenks' comments were that unusual or out of line. IMO, it's only Oney's over-the-top media whore-ish reaction that flamed this into something larger than the backpage footnote it would have been. While funny, I do wish he would STFU. Because this kind of stuff does nothing except perpetuate a negative image of the organization... Even though nobody from the organization has said anything (yet). Right on.
  16. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 28, 2010 -> 09:23 PM) Not officially, no, but it still does not reflect well on the organization when that sort of information continually becomes public. That and senior Guillen will be answering questions about his dumbass son's comments which will be a touchy situation. Do we really think Oz can get out of an interview involving Oney's comments about Jenks without saying something stupid? Like father like son.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2010 -> 03:30 PM) For what closer? Axford
  18. Webb's not going to be anything like he was this year. Maybe in 2-3 years he can regain his form, but this is like the Rangers signing Freddy Garcia for a season.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 04:53 PM) He played a lot of 3b for Charlotte once Teahen got hurt and they found themselves scrambling for a non-terrible 3b playing option. They traded for Teahen not because Viciedo wasn't ready, but because he didn't belong there. Ehh. Something's fishy with that logic. Morel was hitting .320 while playing 3B. You think they moved Viciedo to 3B and Morel to SS because they were scrambling to find a 3B? I think it's more likely they had a change in philosophy and knew they were going to be able to retain Pauly, pursue Dunn hard, and move Viciedo back to 3B.
  20. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 26, 2010 -> 04:44 PM) If Kenny Williams loved Viciedo that much, he wouldn't have signed a 1b and a DH to 3 year deals this offseason, he'd have Viciedo DHing. Or at worst, signed a guy like Lee or Pena to a 1 year deal. Or he believes he can play 3B.
  21. The lack of pitching depth in the Sox system is going to severely hamper their ability to trade for anyone of any impact.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 15, 2010 -> 09:30 PM) Dunn also didn't say he wouldn't play for the Sox repeatedly either. Is him not being able to "see himself wearing" a White Sox jersey the same as saying, "no, I won't play for the Sox?" I mean, he was a Cub so it's only natural to say something like that. I am sure Johnny Damon said something along the same lines many times while with the Red Sox before seeing himself wearing a Yankees jersey.
  23. With Sale, Santos, and Crain, I'm not looking forward to hearing the phrase, dreaded leadoff walk, from Hawk all year long.
  24. 3 year deal for a middle reliever that has been "meh" except for last season? Whatever, we're all-in, but I'm very interested to know what the $$ amount is.
