  1. Matt's FB isn't right. He's 3-4 mph below what hes been.
  2. No it's not a concern. I did the same thing up through college, never an issue. I haven't seen a closeup of Carlos' swing this year, but my thumb was never extended on the handle at the point of contact. In fact, I'd be very surprised if Carlos' thumb was extended at contact. It's very hard to control the bat when your thumb isn't in a firm position.
  3. QUOTE (WCSox @ Apr 4, 2011 -> 01:04 PM) I have a bad feeling about our bullpen. Other than that, I'm still on the optimistic side. I have that feeling too. This bullpen is one that is going to have to be managed well. I'm not sure Ozzie has that in him.
  4. The majority of other teams' fans are local so they'll either have the local broadcast or the ESPN broadcast will be blacked out. It makes little sense to broadcast a Royals game, or the like.
  5. Never going to change, but I actually like it. The Yanks/RSox is a good series to watch, and watching any Red Sox game this year should be entertaining.
  6. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 08:58 PM) Is that because Thornton has been better or because Thornton has pitched in higher leverage situations? No idea, just something to consider when promising a Justin Bieber tattoo. Though for the past 3 years, Thornton's peripherals are all better or similar so you could say he's been better, albeit in different roles.
  7. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Mar 19, 2011 -> 06:53 PM) I'll shave my legs and get a Justin Bieber Tattoo if he's better than Soria. Not that he couldn't be. That would just be amazing. What's the criteria? Keep in mind Thornton has had a better WAR than Soria each of the past 3 seasons. Might want to choose something other than a Bieber tattoo, just in case...
  8. Thank you god. Now no reason to not convert Sale back to a SP after the year. Not to mention, I think Thornton will be the 2nd best closer in the AL behind Mariano.
  9. Final Keepers. Damn you Wainwright. Hanley Arod Votto Sabathia B.Wilson
  10. The Bulls' second unit is the tits. Best 2nd unit in the league.
  11. Hack-a-Howard. Horrendous from the line.
  12. In all of MLB, only Bengie Molina and Herm Schneider are slower than leadfooted Konerko.
  13. If the Bulls win, it's going to be because of their defense, not because their SG position can contribute 7-8 more points per game. They were wise to keep Asik.
  14. QUOTE (ptatc @ Feb 24, 2011 -> 05:05 PM) Yes, if he pitches in the pen this year, the Sox would limit his innings in 2012 to around 160-175. In 2013 they would allow him to pitch 200 or above. I feel that depends a lot on Sale's physical development. I can't imagine the Sox would be comfortable with Sale tossing 200 innings in a year given his current physical configuration. He's not Verlander, Strasburg, Prior, etc. where he's built like a horse straight out of college.
  15. Can people stop using ridiculous comparisons to Sale, please? He's not Strasburg, Prior, or Chapman.
  16. I think MIL or CIN could easily reach 90 wins.
  17. Anyone want Arod or Choo (or both) in exchange for a good SP?
  18. I'm also a bit concerned that Ozzie will play the match-ups too much forcing Sale to pretty much bag his change like last season. If he's going to continue his development, he needs to be put into situations where he can use his whole repertoire (aka, facing lefties and righties).
  19. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 08:24 PM) What is your point? It's not like Chris Sale has never started a game in his life. Is there some special rule that he needs to start some games in the minors before he can start in the majors? No rule, but how many players can you name that have made their first PRO start in the majors? Mike Leake's the only one of late that comes to mind, and he absolutely blew up after 10 starts. It's a tough transition. Hopefully Sale can do it, but it's not done often for a reason.
  20. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Feb 18, 2011 -> 03:23 PM) I don't think anyone is arguing that this is the best choice for 2011 (actually, him starting for Peavy, and then going to the bullpen is probably the best situation for 2011), it's the debate about if this sacrifices our future or not. You (probably) don't think it does, while I on the other hand think it will. That's the only issue at hand. Not sure how anyone could really think that it wouldn't hinder Sale's 2012 performance as a SP. Transitioning from an amateur SP to a pro SP isn't just about having the talent to do so. The Sox will be relying on a SP that has never gone through a starter's pro preparation (most notably, starting on 4 days rest). It's a dangerous proposition. There will be a lot of inconsistent and short starts early on from Sale, a reason why I would be in favor of him starting 2012 in the minors. As far as long-term, this doesn't hinder him at all, but short-term it absolutely does, imo.
