Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 26, 2011 -> 06:29 PM) When is the last time you told one of your bosses you couldn't work with them, and I can only work with the guy you already fired? Hitting coaches are far from players' bosses. They are closer to players' assistants than their bosses.

Frank Thomas: I could be the White Sox hitting coach.
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 25, 2011 -> 05:40 PM) This is a guy who had to have his own personal hitting coach flown in because he couldn't work with anyone else. To me, that doesn't bode well as a teacher if he isn't able to adjust to different personalities. He couldn't work with anyone else or he preferred to stick with the guy that helped make him a HOFer?

KW personally scouting in Latin America
QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Oct 17, 2011 -> 11:09 PM) To the Dominican Republic? Hell yeah. I love the DR. One of my favorite vacation locations.

What can the Sox realistically expect in a trade for Danks
The Braves? Hanson, Hudson, Jurrjens, Beachy, Minor, Teheran, Delgado, Vizcaino, Lowe. They are the most pitching rich club in baseball. They are the last team that would be in on Danks.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
It's not about the money. It's about the opportunity. If Robin wanted to manage he knows he either accepts this job or he's in for a LONG road to become one. No organization other than the Sox would hire Robin. It would be a rather simple negotiation.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 09:14 PM) Sircaffey, Most managers get paid more than bench coaches, I cant find Dave Martinez's salary, but I expect Ventura will be paid more than him (provided he doesnt go to the Red Sox to be coach and get ridiculous money). Yes, Robin will get manager money. So would Martinez, except Martinez actually has negotiating leverage. I can't imagine what Robin would have said to try to negotiate.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 09:11 PM) Balta, Why do people keep saying Ventura must have been the cheapest solution? I would have to imagine Dave Martinez or Sandy Alomar would have come cheaper. Why? Because they are both already willing to work for a bench coach salary. Any job is going to be an increase in salary, and if anything it stands to reason the Sox may have had to overpay Ventura to convince him to actually pay the job. He has consistently turned down coaching jobs, so you have to expect that his paycheck was part of the reason he said yes. How many managerial jobs did he turn down?

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
The only thing I'm upset about with the hire is that the Sox are not getting someone with something to add to the organization, in terms of a different perspective. Martinez would have at least added aspects that have proven to be successful in a first class organization.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 6, 2011 -> 08:57 PM) If you can't wait for that, why are you wasting your time on a White Sox fan message board? Because I'm indifferent on the hire. The manager is going to make little difference in this organization as constructed right now.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
I can't wait until Robin resigns in a year and half after realizing the stresses of managing are a lot more than he anticipated.

Robin Ventura Named White Sox Manager
I would have preferred Herbert Perry.

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
Haven't you seen Hoosiers, the movie? The people in that are way crazier than those in Varsity Blues.
-
Mike North & The Sox
How's this team supposed to grab headlines without some controversial figure within the organization? Snoozers...

Who do you want as the new manager?
Sandberg is going to be a fantastic manager wherever he eventually ends up.

Who do you want as the new manager?
Would love someone with no ties to JR and the Sox organization.

Let the Rebuild Begin
We still have an owner that doesn't go over slot recommendations and the same s***ty player development staff. It's going to take a hell of a lot more than just Kenny having an epiphany, to have a solid farm system.

Beane on Pitt playing him, Moneyball movie
I liked the movie. Slow at times but overall entertaining. If anything, you should see it because White Sox legend Royce Clayton plays Miguel Tejada.

The best player in baseball?
Right now, Jose Bautista. Video game numbers the past 2 years.

Ozzie is leaving on a jetplane
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 15, 2011 -> 03:06 PM) I loved that guy. Just looking at him made me burst into uncontrollable laughter. He was fantastic in Ladybugs.

Baseball's Meanest Player?!?
The constant bat and helmet slams are enough for me to understand.

Are they done?
QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Sep 5, 2011 -> 05:14 PM) Think J.P Ricciardi pulls that off? He was the dumbass who signed him to the deal (as well as Rios) in the first place. Right. And Reagins was idiot #2.

2011-2012 NCAA Basketball Thread
QUOTE (farmteam @ Aug 16, 2011 -> 02:44 PM) Oh yeah, the 6th banner thing was obviously in jest. Crean will most definitely get 2-3 more years, because of Zeller this year, and banner recruiting class coming the year after. Crean's locked in for at least 4 more years, assuming he inks the verbal commits from Lyles and Blackmon Jr. in the 2014 class. He's owning the Indiana state talent and that's what the alumni want. The wins will follow.

Sox Trade Busts vs. Other Team
Hendry signed Lilly from the hospital bed.

Oney versus Valentine
I don't necessarily think it's a shot directly at Ozzie. None of the players have shown any sense of leadership this entire season as well. Looking at the team from the outside, you don't get a sense of leadership from anyone (front office, management, or players). I would ask the same question. Who is actually leading this team?
