  1. I don't see this as a steal at all. Infante has one year left on his deal at a very low $2.5 mil. He can easily play his way to Type A status, and the Marlins would feel very comfortable offering him arbitration and receive 2 1st rd draft picks. Dunn, 1 year of Infante, and 2 1st rd picks for a disgruntled horrendous defensive player who is demanding 5yrs/70 mil is a win in my book.
  2. QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Nov 11, 2010 -> 10:22 PM) If you are saying Lebron overrated, I disagree vehemently. If you are saying the Heat, then yes. Lebron at the end of the day is still the best player in the NBA and I don't care what his statistics show. If we are holding a player draft for today and the future, I will take Lebron without even blinking. Over Kobe. Over Durant. Over anyone. Granted, if it's the fourth quarter, gimme Kobe. I'm saying the Heat.
  3. Bosh so far is pretty much just useless. Having him is like overkill. Perhaps depth would have been a lot better than having a 3rd superstar?
  4. Wow...Lebron just clanked a wide open 3 off of the side of the backboard with a minute left. OVERRATED!
  5. Well, considering how starved this organization is for young cheap SP, it'd be plain dumb for KW to not be willing to move Beckham. Especially considering KW's philosophy is to have a strong rotation 1 through 5.
  6. QUOTE (Rex Hudler @ Nov 5, 2010 -> 08:04 AM) What I wish they would do is show a clock on the screen on tv. I'd like to know how many hours the actual poker is taking. I think I heard that a few years ago Chip Reese and Any Bloch played heads up like 5 hours in one finale? Is that true? It's true. I believe it was the H.O.R.S.E. Championship.
  7. Two similar extensions: Gallardo's: 11:$3.25M, 12:$5.5M, 13:$7.75M, 14:$11.25M, 15:$13M club option ($0.6M buyout) Lester's: 10:$3.75M, 11:$5.75M, 12:$7.625M, 13:$11.625M, 14:$13M club option ($0.25M buyout) Danks' extension will be likely be a mirror image. 3 yrs, ~$26 mil (+ club option pushing it to 4yrs/~$40 mil).
  8. QUOTE (Jake @ Nov 4, 2010 -> 08:54 PM) What the hell stat is he trying to say in the bold? WHIP? Anyways, is there any way in hell we could lock him up for $20 mil/4 years? I figured it would be double that. Probably BB/9 EDIT: Not the case. 1.21 was his WHIP. Nice wording huh.
  9. Just ditch this stupid rotating DH idea.
  10. QUOTE (bucket-of-suck @ Nov 3, 2010 -> 08:29 PM) Unless something unforseen happens (trade, injury) all signs point to Morel as the opening day 3B. As well they should. He's gonna be a good one. What signs? I'd like Morel to start, but I don't see it. Help me.
  11. Given the circumstances, that was one of the worst bad beats I've ever seen. Afflect would have had $41,000,000 chips and been the clear favorite to win the $8 million. At the very least, he basically lost $1 million+, because of that river card. I'd have put my hand through a wall.
  12. I'd sign AJ to a one-year deal and hope Flowers figures it out in AAA, but I think AJ will find a 2-year deal somewhere else.
  13. Why are some assuming Morel is going to be the starting 3B? The Teahen extension if nothing else, wouldn't have been made if the organization had that much confidence in Morel as a starter for 2011 or 12. Teahen and his $10 mil is going to be starting at 3B, imo.
  14. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Oct 30, 2010 -> 12:26 PM) Who is Cardinals top pitching prosepect and how can we arrange a trade that sends Carlos, and Buehrle to the Cards for Rasmus and studs? Shelby Miller and he's quite the stud. He's not going anywhere.
  15. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 18, 2010 -> 08:43 PM) 3/4 starter. U can't possibly think he's a 2 at this point. And he's not worth no 12 million. $14 million. He ain't worth no 14 million.
  16. QUOTE (hitlesswonder @ Oct 16, 2010 -> 07:04 PM) This offseason, at least one of Danks or Floyd has to/will be traded. It's basically all the Sox have to move. But even then I don't think either of those guys will bring anything close to what this board wants. CQ, Danks, Santos, and Morel might be enough to get Rasmus but I don't see CQ and Danks alone being close.... Sadly, I wouldn't rule out another Swisher-like deal with Jackson - a nothing package consisting of a medicore RP, once-hyped but now sucks OF, and a s***ty prospect.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 09:26 PM) Strasburg never pitched more than 109 innings in college, but he was put in the AFL last year in the Fall last year to push him up to about 128. (the Sox do not have Sale in the AFL). But, he was on pace to go for around 155 innings this year if he hadn't gotten hurt. He was exactly on Verducci Effect pace. Sale's pitched more innings each of the last 2 years than Stras ever did. I hate theories like the Verducci effect. These theories that try to blanket all different players. Sale comes into his pro career with legitimate durability concerns due to motion and a POW-like body. If you want to ignore the obvious durability concerns with Sale and both increase his workload and the days of rest between GS (6 in college to 4-5 in the pros), that's fine. I just hope the Sox handle him a little more carefully.
  18. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 15, 2010 -> 07:57 PM) Why? He pitched 140 in 2009 and 136 in 2010, including 20+ IP at the big league level. If you just follow the Verducci Effect rule, he's ok for 165-170 next year. I think that would be a grave mistake given college IP are much different than pro IP, his unorthodox motion, and him being under-developed physically. Not to mention, him being the Sox' only legitimate SP prospect. There's no good reason to have him pitch near 170 innings. The Sox should do exactly what the Nats planned on doing with Strasburg before he got injured.
  19. I would hope that the Sox don't let Sale go more than 120 IP next year, at the most.
  20. Hell, Kobe scored 81 in a game, and he missed 18 shots and 2 free throws in that game. Jordan could score 100 if he tried to.
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 14, 2010 -> 05:36 PM) I don't get where you're coming from. You're seriously comparing Dunn's resume with Quentin's? You can pretty much pencil in Dunn at .250/40/100/.380/.520/.900 and not think twice about it. CQ has one great year to his credit. It's not close. And basically all of that is vs RHP. Dunn performs at a level vs RHP that very few hitters do. That's why you get him.
  22. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 04:27 PM) Both Swisher trades. The Javy trade in which it looks like the only valuable piece we got back was a utility guy. The Brandon Allen for Tony Pena swap? Even Hawk would admit KW is in a massive slump right now. Agreed. I think Kenny would look a lot worse if he actually had a decent farm system to trade from. I think we'd be laughing at how bad his moves were if he had a system like the Rangers.
  23. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Oct 13, 2010 -> 05:04 PM) I think everyone would do that deal, but I think it would START with Beckham. I'm talking Beckham + someone. Basically, Votto isn't going anywhere, at least not to the SouthSide. Beckham + a lot. We'd get outbid if Votto was on the market.
