  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) Sounds like a Bloody Sunday and Black monday are shortly in order. Gonna be a lot of openings, I hope Pace has his guy Seriously. Glad raiders have someone in mind as that is a great job to walk into. Frankly surprised at the firings of coaches that had taken teams to playoffs but just had bad years.
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Yeah I totally read this and thought "what's so hard about spelling first base"? Upon rereading it I thought I was making a sick burn initially as well. That said, likely one of Gillaspie or Davidson is on team so it’s not crucial.
  3. Yep. Gotta be ready to trade any one of these guys for an elite player.
  4. https://twitter.com/DanClarkSports/status/947191866721681408 With a package like that no wonder Sox were early favorites. Chavis and Groome...blech.
  5. I think at very least you trade Lopez. You gave Felicio multi year money, and your best lineup features Mirotic at Center. He’s been a true pro but no use to keep him.
  6. Would be nice if he could spell 1b as well
  7. I was going to post about how we should prepare ourselves for a big regression this year, a la the Phillies who were “surprisingly” competitive in their first year and killed by injuries in their second. That said, I would bet anything we end up in the over on that position player war projection, and that yolmer will be over. And quite frankly Castillo having a severe regression like that will recreate fears that our pro scouting is garbage.
  8. So according to Fegan, Ruiz was protected on the 40 man for the rule 5 draft, but then the pads tried to float him past waivers after the draft when teams 40 may have been filled up. Sox claimed him. He may have been a target prior and was a surprise protection.
  9. All of this continues to convince me that it’s more likely our 4th overall pick will be trade bait than a future White Sox.
  10. QUOTE (Tony @ Dec 28, 2017 -> 01:40 PM) This is a shockingly bad take. I’m still a little surprised at price we paid considering their clear desire to play Ryan Howard and his previous season. But he was obviously worth it and I love Jom Thome. Such a good guy.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 27, 2017 -> 10:11 AM) So, watched first full bulls game of the season last night. It was just bland. There was so little exciting about the Bulls style of ball it made them hard to watch, and they still won the game. They won because they didn't turn the ball over, they didn't make mistakes, they let the other team make mistakes and just played normal basketball. There wasn't huge amounts of ball movement. There wasn't spectacular plays. There were no great feats of strength. They just played decent basketball and let the other team make more mistakes. I hate to say this...but that looked like a very well coached team winning the game because they were following a coaches formula to the letter. I wouldn’t say your summary of their play matches how they’ve looked this last month, but your last sentence is correct. No matter how you slice it, Hoiberg has been a big contributor to this success. Markannen started season running one play very successfully. It was countered, and then they started running cutting plays and post plays that he has ran well, hitting against the knock that he’s just a spot shooter. Dunn has improved dramatically. The overstocked front court has been managed well. The athletic ran a piece today showing even stuff like plays out of timeouts we’ve started to become one of the top teams in scoring. This with a seriously awful bench and mostly terrible guards. Like awful. He is growing as a coach. Heads will be happy.
  12. The only guy I would be proactively happy about signing multi year of his market turns out weak is lance Lynn. Otherwise happy with MiGo types.
  13. Cool that he went with Robert and Micker to the Dominican Instructional league.
  14. For those that didn’t read article, it was nothing more than listing potential places he could land due to roster. There is no actual smoke here.
  15. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 24, 2017 -> 05:18 PM) It makes me so sad my kids won’t experience a movie store. Even as a adult in the west loop I loved taking my dog there and walking around. While bundling up and going to a store in winter was annoying, there are few things as awful as trying to search for a movie on netflix. Definitely miss the movie store experience more. Do not miss the having to return the movie, however.
  16. I don't think it will be that hard, though in the actual fan graphs podcast it definitely sounded like Kiley would be focused on prospects but would be basically allowed to do what he wanted. But it seemed like the lead prospect writer was a hell of a lot of work especially with team lists, so I think there is plenty of work to go around there. One thing that was interested in the podcast was an anecdote he gave about how the scouts ranked this guy in the 2nd-3rd round, but kept showing up around 10-12 in mock drafts. Kiley pointed out that there was some advanced stat and those teams typically focused hard on those in the past. It was hard to tell if he threw 10-12 out as a random set, but sox were in that. Though we were always mock drafted more closely with Kendall and college pitchers than ever with Burger. I did wonder if it was us because I heard a lot of our selections came from teams that had stat cast data (wake forest/louisville?) I could be way off.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 26, 2017 -> 01:42 PM) John Perrotto‏ @JPerrotto 40m40 minutes ago From @flasportsbuzz: #Marlins' other bidders had a different plan than Derek Jeter's http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/spt-columns-blogs/barry-jackson/article191481449.html …://http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/s...91481449.html …://http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/s...91481449.html … #MLB That last paragraph is brutal
  18. So after the third one of these my analysis is that teams trading players *really* like saying the White Sox are involved because of our farm system.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Dec 23, 2017 -> 11:01 PM) I'm not a Cuonzo fan but a lot of people overstate how bad his coaching is. I think he is probably a slightly below average head coach who doesn't maximize his talent. But he is also a far cry from guys like Kim Anderson or John Groce who are pretty much complete disasters. With that said, Missouri's best players this year are seniors and their 3 leading scorers are 2 seniors and a junior, so yes, I would say that is the case. Except for Barnett their most talented players are freshmen however. Right so awful coach Cuonzo took the same players as the 8 won disaster last year and already has won more games than last years team. Okay.
  20. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 23, 2017 -> 09:57 PM) Cuonzo Martin. That's why. Dude is an awful coach. Illinois' best players are freshmen outside of Leron Black. Can't wait to add Ayo to this young group. Mizzou won 8 games last year. You think our beat players are seasoned vets?
  21. Oh well. Gonna be those games where threes don’t fall. They had good looks. With Jontay only being 17 he’s gonna hit some freshman walls.
  22. There’s also a free trial going on now if someone wants to read the article.
  23. QUOTE (Springfield SoxFan @ Dec 18, 2017 -> 05:10 PM) I saw a tweet from the Athletic today that said Hostetler provided a "draft name of interest." If accurate, did anyone see this? Insight? Not sure what it’s referring to, did mention they have a guy in consideration at #4 that’s not even in top 20 on the major lists.
