QUOTE (fathom @ Jan 6, 2018 -> 12:15 PM) Rumor has been Indians asked for Happ for him Yeah probably not a match haha The point is that, Danny, if you are listening, I have big plans for you on southside if you can somehow get released.
  2. If belicheck leaves the pats for the giants and we don’t even call I’m going to lose it.
  3. First bulls game I’ve watched start to finish. This offense is really watchable.
  4. I'd probably choose all of the bullpen guys. We really need to go into our good years with solid bullpens, so I'm looking forward to seeing Burr, Veiera and Tyler Johnson, etc compete.
  5. Seeing the staff Gruden put together, that's impressive. The benefit to his media gig the way he set it up (and constantly complimenting everyone on tv) was he probably has more relationships than anyone now. He seems like a nice guy though and I like a lot of raiders so i hope it works out.
  6. Is it just me or did we also get 2 relievers back.

Its one of the players I would just love to know the trade value of in discussions.

QUOTE (pablo @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 12:09 PM) You could probably buy him at his low point right now, right? I'd imagine Indians would be looking for big league help and they could likely use an OF. Would you do an Avi for Salazar deal? Hope to get Salazar right and if so either extend him or trade him. If Salazar got healthy and good, he'd probably bring back more than Avi in a deadline deal. I think if the price was prospects, I'd have to pass on anything in our top 10-12. I have a deep affinity for pro ball player for pro ball player trades so the answer is yes. I feel better about flipping Salazar for prospects than Avi. Salazar could also end up being a new wade davis.
  9. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 11:51 AM) and 25 years later, fans of that certain team are still calling the score suggesting that he become coach again. with zero trace of irony Yesterday I heard one person calling to make ditka team president.

https://theathletic.com//202710/2018/01/04/...s/?redirected=1 In this, and don't ask me to send you screenshots, Rosenthal says Indians are still interested in moving salazar who has 3 years left. I've always loved salazar. I have no idea what a guy like him would require to get. He needs to get healthy, we get pitchers healthy (not named Rodon). Basically, I think yesterday was the most exciting thing that will happen before soxfest, so, yay or nay, would you give up anything for a 28 year old starting pitcher with 3 years left if his name is Danny Salazar.
  11. Greg I just want to know if you think Soria is better or worse than Al Albuquerque or Dylan Covey.
  12. For the record, I would support Belicheck coaching the bears
  13. I wanna say this was in an interview recently. What I recall is they expect him to spend significant time in W-S but may start out in kannapolis.
  14. Problem is we may have 3 years where his talent is wasted but if I were to put a true deal together for Yelich it would start with Robert.
  15. QUOTE (iamshack @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 10:37 AM) Can we change the title to reflect the proper amount of cash we are receiving back? Sorry, it’s bugging me. Not sure how anyone can complain about netting two relievers for well-below market rate, for a guy that was blocked by Yoan Moncada. I get that some people want to be devil’s advocates, and others like to constantly troll the entire site, but any reasoned analysis of this deal shows that this was an outstanding trade for the White Sox to make. Even if Soria just bombs...you essentially paid $16m or so and Jake Peter for a quality LOOGY we control for two years. We have the money to spend. More likely scenario, we add two reasonably solid bp arms, allowing these kids to actually get a little taste of winning, and have options at the trade deadline should someone actually be willing to move a prospect we like. There was almost no conceivable reason to not make this trade if you are the White Sox. Soria's 2019 is a team option I believe, so no real reason to even count on the books.
  16. Blake harris is leaving missouri so I no longer have hope of our PG position getting better. Please come back MPJ.
  17. His walkoff in Toronto I turned off the tv before the camera even showed where the ball landed. He just murdered that ball.
  18. Chris Holtmann is a hell of a coach. I think it's underappreciated how he kept Butler going after Miller's illness. He would have been coach 1a that I wanted when Mizzou was searching but I didn't even think he would leave for anyone. I heard that experience with Miller made Butler a pretty tight knit family. Not shocked by his start at OSU.
  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:41 AM) I will never think that your bullpen will be "Just as valuable" as your starters. 1/2 as valuable maybe. Teams are paying $15 million for a top of the line reliever right now and $30 million a year for a top of the line starter. I was actually referring to just as valuable in terms of trading him off. Easy to think he'd be a trade piece, but judging by the bullpen arms buildup, we may be better off trying to build from within than buying it. But also, I don't think "top of line starter" vs "top of line reliever" is that informative. If cease would only be a 4th/5th starter but a top of line reliever, then he very well could be more valuable. Your case would rest on him being traded for a top of line starter and that probably wouldn't even be 1:1. When sox get good, lets just hope they don't need to acquire significant parts of their bullpen.
  20. I'll take the people looking at his krate to show how he could have a good year for the minimum price we paid over the people arguing how a reliever was bad in individual performances last year. Relievers are volatile. We took a chance on a guy who could be good, to take a guy who is more likely to be good in an area of need, by taking on a small amount of salary. And despite everyone being in broad agreement about paragraph two, we are arguing about how kc fans are dumb enough to believe that their team got better by getting rid of soria through also giving up one of their best relievers.
  21. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 09:03 AM) I'm also in that take the BP first, ask questions later ilk myself, but you are really underrating Dunn as a PG. Kid is going to be legit. I just want my 19-20 year old Steph Curry 2.0 on this team. I actually don't think I underrate Dunn, but looking at this great class, if bulls are picking top 5, I don't want them trying to pick best player to build within their team. This is the player they build around. And Dunn could be a pretty good starter or a really good bench PG that you occasionally give minutes as a 2 guard backcourt.
  22. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 4, 2018 -> 05:52 PM) If Cease does break out and the White Sox have no room for him - either we have 6 starters (frankly this isn't a bad thing) or Cease is a top flight trade candidate. Take a look at the Mets for examples both ways. They had a need and a loaded pitching staff and traded Fulmer to the Tigers for Cespedes. This literally put the Mets in the World Series when they probably would have missed the playoffs without him. On the other hand, after that season, the Mets young pitching staff all got hurt and they really could have used the extra arm. On the other hand if bullpen prices continue to climb cease could be just as valuable in bullpen.
  23. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 08:42 AM) While I was a fan of Peter, he didn't really have a spot on this team. Could see him becoming a solid ballplayer though (especially if he can play every position). When the white sox started him out in AA last year and then did not put him up in the first september call ups I figured he was just a guy that was not in the plans. I'm glad we got some bullpen help. Seasons like last year were fun because they mostly resembled a major league team that just couldn't string wins together. But there's nothing fun about teams like the 07 white sox or last years reds that just lose every lead in the bullpen. I think it also is something that demoralizes young pitchers though that's kinda intangible stuff.
  24. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Jan 5, 2018 -> 08:44 AM) All of this Soria pessimism and he was actually positive WAR. Curse of the 8th inning guy. When Jones is pitching we constant hear bickering of him being not that good. White Sox rocked Soria last year, and frankly I do view him as sort of a Tyler Clippard project, but one I think we can win. I guess I'd want more than cash though.
