  1. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 11:42 AM) I dont see how McDaniels can ask for control of the 53 man roster after the dumpster fire he left in his wake in Denver. I would give him input, but there would be no way in hell i would cede control. Yeah, it scares me that there was no "lesson learned" there. But I am much higher on this version of Belicheck assistants, who have had much more time under Belicheck and how that team is arranged. I'd be pro-Patricia. I like his all around the field background and think it lends itself well to HC position. But obviously he'd need a guru. I would love to know how McDaniels is viewed in coaching circles as far as having connections. If he's well liked and well connected or what
  2. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jan 2, 2018 -> 11:29 AM) Meet with him and ask? What is the point of your post?
  3. Doesn't McDaniels want control over the 53?
  4. That's not abad idea And I'll show myself out
  5. Bulls continue to get lucky facing a Lilliard-less blazers but I had to give a fist pump when bulls got a rebound, Dunn races up and passes to Valentine who immediately throws a behind the back pass to Lauri for a corner 3 to go up 6. Valentine looks so much better last few weeks.
  6. I’m not giving Ryan pace a free pass, I just don’t think because John Fox wasn’t handed a perfect team it means that actually he was a good coach. A coach worse than him could have gotten the same results out of the bears the last 3 years. Sometimes saying people were bad at something and it not mean that everyone else was great at something. But yes I think we have the makings of a good young defense and have an above average offensive line and run game moving forward.
  7. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 01:16 PM) The funniest thing about good NFL coaches is they all have franchise QBs. Fox was pretty good when he had one. Sounds good but Arians got to 8 wins with Blaine Gabbert and without his franchise RB. The Vikings are 2 seeds with Case Keenum. Bills in playoffs with Tyrod Taylor. Like I said, Fox isn’t first coach to deal with poor talent.
  8. John fox may very well have been fired regardless because priority #1 is developing Trubisky which he cannot do, but John Fox made that very easy because he was so bad. Funny thing about good nfl coaches, they tend to make the talent on their teams look a lot better.
  9. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 12:37 PM) This team had zero chance at 8 wins. This offense was mediocre if every single starter stayed healthy. With any injuries they were terrible. The defense also completely lacks depth, though the starters are at least decent. This was a 5 or 6 win team in terms of talent, and that is what they played to. They need depth and more offensive weapons really badly. Had they beaten winnable games against weaker talent in GB at home or SF, they’d be 7-9. See how easy it is to show how a mediocre/bad team can get there? Over a 3 year period, yes, a coach should hit it once. Fox was just bad. He avsolutely has a chance, but his badness ruined it.
  10. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 12:32 PM) No receivers and had to start Glennon. Loggans calling plays was a huge error, but it is hard to score withwhat the Bears had to work with personnel wise, Fox had no control of the roster. I was watching a discussion saying the Bears candidate pool will be limited due to Pace having total control of the roster, big names are longshots at best. but that might be better for the Bears. Every team has limitations. Fox didn’t know how to use his strengths and instead constantly just tried to limit his weaknesses. He failed. 2nd worst win percentage in bears history. Lotta bad rosters in this org.
  11. Contracts aren’t that long in the nba, Lavine is RFA this year, Dunn next, Lauri year after. Cheap long term control won’t be had. They’ll re sign Lavine, and he’s a guy if trade all day to upgrade. Dunn same. Obviously you don’t give em all away but Dunn is now a better asset than when we acquired him credit to Hoiberg.
  12. They should have just fired fox last year, it was clear he wasn’t what was need d. I don’t buy he didn’t have a chance, he was just bad. Doesn’t mean he could have won a super bowl, but in 3 years pretty much any coach should be able to cobble an 8 win season, unless they are bad or a browns coach.
  13. QUOTE (2005thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 1, 2018 -> 11:19 AM) I actually don't think we have acquired enough assets. Teams aren't looking to trade stars for Portis, Valentine, Grant or Nwaba, or even Niko for that matter. We don't think even own anyone else's first rounder, while we have traded away our own second round picks for the next 3 years. We're actually are $7 million under salary floor and still has $15 mil TPE from the Butler trade we haven't used. We absolutely need to acquire more assets at this trade deadline. Also on team: Dunn, Lavine, Lauri, Markannen, Lopez. Teams don’t look to trade stars to get better immediately anyhow. They trade them under duress. And as for second round picks...we can buy them when we need them.
  14. Why is giants such a good job again?
  15. Fox is officially gone.
  16. https://www.soxmachine.com/ Margulis, Nelson and Pnoles all leaving for Jim Margulis’ new/old site. Hopefully Larry leaves too. Started to see some signs of this with tweets at Vox Media treating writers poorly, but I hope the fresh start pays off. There are quite a few posters here I’d like to see write everyday. SSS position over the last few years was in a strangely conservative place. Vast majority wanted to go for it again in 17, and it just seemed to be in a different tone on the rebuild where they didn’t quite buy it. I hope whomever takes over is good, I’m guessing it’s not happening but would love if the cheat were able to come back.
  17. The good news is we have assets to trade for a Star if it comes up for first time in forever.
  18. Really odd part of today’s game was how the wizards kept getting the bulls to switch so that Lauri was on wall or Beal.
  19. Yea, not even worth remembering the title.
  20. Just an incredibly bad year.
  21. I watched lost city of z. Not that they are so similar, but just wanted to point out it was a much better movie than the revenant and the revenant was terrible.
  22. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 31, 2017 -> 09:37 AM) Sounds like a Bloody Sunday and Black monday are shortly in order. Gonna be a lot of openings, I hope Pace has his guy Seriously. Glad raiders have someone in mind as that is a great job to walk into. Frankly surprised at the firings of coaches that had taken teams to playoffs but just had bad years.
  23. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 30, 2017 -> 03:06 PM) Yeah I totally read this and thought "what's so hard about spelling first base"? Upon rereading it I thought I was making a sick burn initially as well. That said, likely one of Gillaspie or Davidson is on team so it’s not crucial.
  24. Yep. Gotta be ready to trade any one of these guys for an elite player.
