  1. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) They have to already know JR would sign off on a huge extension for this to be possible. I'm talking like 10 year/$300-$330 mill with a few opt-outs. But at this point, I would think he would wait until free agency. I do have to imagine this has been talked about.
  2. QUOTE (flavum @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:21 AM) It would be a gamble for them, but it’s one year of Machado, not 3 or 4. The Sox have a nice wealth of arms, and shoulders are tricky. I said Rodon and Fulmer for Machado and a prospect. Maybe add Adams too, and make a deal. It’s a good gamble for both teams. Right but I was alluding to what ss2k5 said, the orioles have declined deals for healthy players that "failed their medicals", I just can't see them approving a player that is known injured.
  3. https://twitter.com/scotgregor/status/941324786361397248 This has been the one guy that I think of when talking about how sox are out in front, and would be really silly because what are the odds the orioles take on an injured player?
  4. What a dumb turn these meetings took.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) We can use it, we just can't use all of that on one player. This class is pretty much done. I would be very surprised if we sign anyone else this period.
  6. I like our minor league pick, but I just can't believe we didn't take a flyer on one of the 100 mph arm guys for the bullpen. Like, I know at some point Al Albuquerque will be back and we'll be watching him pitch instead of some guy with an actual arm and not-fake name.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) You might as well. There's been no indication they are moving him soon or a deal is close. Well last night they were saying "by the weekend" and its thursday. But yeah, everyone's about to leave so I wouldn't expect anything to happen today unless offers leaked out.
  8. Nightengale is really wringing out this sweet sweet rumor he was given.
  9. QUOTE (rowand's rowdies @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) So which 2 wins last season do we blame for not getting Burdi? Picking an OFer to trade for cash to an AL team with a wide open bullpen and a few bech spots open as well? Can anyone explain this logically? What am I missing? Yeah definitely concerned about losing to prop up our rule 5 position give me a break.
  10. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:51 AM) Meghan Montemurro‏Verified account @M_Montemurro 3m3 minutes ago More The Phillies traded RHP Nick Burdi, their Rule 5 draft pick, to the Pittsburgh Pirates for international slot money. *please use that international slot money to sweeten up your deal to *looks down* baltimore*
  11. What a brutal 24 hrs.
  12. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:27 AM) I could see us trading Tocci plus something to the Giants for Burdi. Yeah this would be great, but I would guess it’s to someone that was behind us right?
  13. QUOTE (Jack Parkman @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) Now I hate this. You were so in love with it before!
  14. QUOTE (cjgalloway @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:25 AM) What does this mean? Means we kept Peter / Guerrero
  15. Probably kept Guerrero right? Confirmed.
  16. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 08:22 AM) Problem is, the 72 hour window doesn't fit the "sell him on Sox culture" narrative, unless Sox culture is significantly more potent than I thought it to be. It’s a great PowerPoint.
  17. Yay more outfielders. Thought we were short on AAAA guys there.
  18. Just hoping for that good ole Orioles trade canceled at ownership because phantom medical issue.
  19. I miss when this is what I was most excited about
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 07:13 AM) This makes sense and was my original plan/scenario. However, the more I think about it, I think trading him at the deadline would be counter-productive unless it were to a team with no chance of extending him. I mean, I guess from Sox perspective if they had to trade him at deadline it’s acknowledgement he ain’t coming back.
  21. The yanks portion of this may be a “if he’s not signed by deadline” discussion, but still not with it imo.
  22. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:19 AM) STL is getting after it this winter, are willing to trade from a deep farm and are linked to both Machado and Abreu. Let's have a threesome! If we trade for Machado I think it would be crazy to trade Abreu.
  23. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 14, 2017 -> 06:16 AM) Shiotinbfg sounds painful Kyyihgnke, you have no idea.
  24. You know who just did a lot to differentiate themselves in a marketplace? The mariners with ohtani. Shiotinbfg ourselves in the foot really badly here.
  25. I was very confident going to bed we wouldn’t do something stupid and now I have lost that and am just at a loss. Trading Kopech for one year of Machado? What on earth could they be thinking. Please, please let this fall through.
