QUOTE (daggins @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 12:33 PM) One thing it seems to signify is they don't anticipate Collins forcing his way into the team anytime soon. I don't think it means that at all. Teams need two catchers. Castillo would not be blocking Collins, they could easily both be on team together.

bmagneurius is still possible i see.

Zero chance it goes to conference.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 11:08 AM) Completely disagree. Leach would be fine there. The guy can coach. Would have been a blessing for that program. Yeah Leach as a coach will be fine. He's just someone that doesn't like meddling and boy will he face it so it's an odd fit.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:47 AM) What's the difference legally? Frankly if it was as a candidate I would assume it's more likely to get rolled into the illegal hacking of the emails themselves which could be criminal under the computer fraud and abuse act, during the transition there could be reasonable motions to begin the foreign relationships prior to becoming president. OTOH, during transition could also have been the communication to undercut the sanctions being put in place during Obama administration. That part I have no idea if is even criminal, so it would largely result on it being considered politically terrible.

NCAA basketball thread 2017-18

Mizzou played UCF last night and I had never watched Tacko fall before and OMG is it crazy how much taller he looks than everyone else. Pretty sure he could grab the top of the backboard standing -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 1, 2017 -> 10:34 AM) But Trump is paying everyone’s legal bills, remember? That's not that uncommon (trump campaign doing it was less so), but also less damning than his clear signals that he would just pardon everyone a la Arpaio.
-
Ross better be right about the candidate part because that will be a rather large difference.
-
Quick to assume it was Devers or Benintendi, could be Rodriguez, Red Sox likely went after Abreu because he’d be cheaper than paying Santana so I’m unsurprised if they balked at any ML pieces.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 05:57 PM) How come Clarence Thomas isn't being revisited? If Al Franken should resign, Long Dong should as well. BTW, the "clever" nickname Trump gave Franken actually pops up automatically. So once again, Trump isn't as clever as he wants you to beleive HBOs movie on Anita Hill had come out over the summer. I suppose now that he is on the supreme court, maybe that is a position not worth sticking your neck out for when it won't bring consequences against him. The whole way the court operates, aside from lifetime positions, is so behind the veil he could survive our weeklong news cycles.

Eh, once you accept most HR depts view their goal as protecting the company and not the employee it is never shocking some of the routes they take. The decision wasn't "how do we protect our women employees based off of this complaint?" it was "how do we decrease our liability while keeping our accused star talent?"

guessing he just left sox in there because they had previously been interested. Even the way it was initially written was "surely the white sox would be interested"

QUOTE (Wanne @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 07:14 PM) hand off...he's ASU's! Pretty sure that's been in the works for quite some time (between the AD and Edwards...who were buddies. Actually the AD used to be Edwards agent IIRC). And I like the hire sorta! But saying that type of “name” non traditional hire may be next.

QUOTE (GenericUserName @ Nov 29, 2017 -> 07:11 PM) I hated the trade at the time, I hated it even more when the A's got all three of Fowler, Mateo, and Kaprielian, but the move is done and now we have to hope Rutherford just had a bad year or needs a small adjustment because we're stuck with him. I dont like Rutherford but I feel I hate this deal most because of the stupid fake rosenthal tweet trade that had Mateo Adams and Florial

It sure what to do with info that lane kiffins Twitter is so good and I also hate Kiffin

I still think at this point Tennessee will end up with someone "better" than we expect, but what a crapshow. Starting to think some crazy "big name" retired player a la herm edwards start to get the calls.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) Will be interesting to see what slant on analytics he brings over. Houston really believes in their plan. Let's just say I' hope he gets to download what houston was doing with pro scouting even though he's moving into player development. But I'm sure we have no idea how big player dev has been built out last year. Would be interesting things to get out of soxfest.
-
Houston has been shedding scouts, I'm assuming they are replacing them with analysts. Anyhoo, in August when that started we talked about wanting sox to add those guys. it appears we have added one.

QUOTE (flavum @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 01:26 PM) https://twitter.com/jakemkaplan/status/935583767376384000 I would assume he and Getz are friends and played with each other in the KC years. I'm going to make a thread out of this if you don't mind -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 12:24 PM) MLB.com features the 8 most likely teams to sign Ohtani, and the White Sox are not one of them. http://m.mlb.com/news/article/262478194/sc...-shohei-ohtani/ Or, the teams with the fanbases most likely to produce the highest clicks on this article

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 11:46 AM) Ald. Carlos Rosa is also planning to run. For gutierrez seat not Mayor.
-
Remember when we were talking about how amazing it is that Rahm can still clear the field with his low approval? With Rep Guitierrez dropping out of his re-election bid, Chuy Garcia plans to run for that seat.

QUOTE (Lip Man 1 @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 11:12 AM) Dunt: Right, there's a way to accurately measure how a guy runs the bases, the decision making thought process for each one and factors in the decision making process of the players on defense when said player is running the bases. SIGN ME UP! Stats = narrative. Right, your own judgment based on the camera views you are afforded in the games you happen to watch seem much more reliable.

QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Nov 28, 2017 -> 10:55 AM) The more he continues to insist that money means literally nothing to him, the more it becomes actually realistic for any AL team to land him. It makes me really sad and disappointed that there are no outward signs that the White Sox are really trying. Obviously that doesn't mean they aren't under the radar, but it would just be so nice to see a public effort a la the Mariners so that we could legitimately hope. I don't think it benefits the sox at all to be public about it, tbh. If Otani delivers a top 5 and they are on it, then by all means go public then.

I don't know, that contract isn't that crazy and it's a nice way to build recruiting momentum. Without any idea of how the buyout changed it's kinda whatever. For instance, it's likely Missouri extends Odom since he only has 3 years left on deal. Buyout on those years is likely to be minimal.
