  1. Glad we switched from popeyes to KFC, which is appropriately worse.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 10:22 AM) Just for references sake, in the private sector, this is what is called money laundering and fraud. I am sure that both parties do this as standard operations, but holy crap. Unfortunately, it's SOP https://www.politico.com/story/2015/11/bern...sing-dnc-215559
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 09:56 AM) For the White Sox, yes. For a team like Boston - top of the AL East this year, solid pitching staff that could be better next year, in need of power to put them over the top, and ready to compete right now? He's not worth a Moncada with that contract, but he's worth a good amount to them. Right, they are a team rich enough to Ethier him.
  4. QUOTE (Dam8610 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 09:49 AM) What makes you so confident of that? I hope you're right, but they have 52 Republicans in the Senate and only need 50 votes. Some people believe the third rail of american politics is medicare, I think it's the mortgage income tax deduction. If this bill were to pass though, I'd buy every luxury stock there is. It's just a big give away to generational wealth.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 09:48 AM) I'm not 100% sure it is. I saw this morning a possibility of an 8 year lapse on the corporate tax cut part to make sure that it fits reconciliation rules, which would require only 51 votes. They'd lose the "Giving businesses stability" line, but that was BS anyway. This one doesn't have clear stories of "You will kill me if you vote for this" like the last one did. These pay-fors will not last in senate. A tax cut bill can pass the senate.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 09:44 AM) Very Serious Policy Wonk Paul Ryan has been "working" on budgets, healthcare plans, and tax bills for nearly a decade a now and has zero to show for it. He's got the most undeserved reputation for being a smart policy guy in Washington. He's just a terrible speaker. Has no idea how to build a consensus. They never have a shared framework, they are always negotiating on the edges.
  7. Anyway this is DOA in senate. Fun suicide mission by Ryan though.
  8. Astros found so much value giving some players chance to figure it out at big league level that would have been marginalized on a competing club. Makes me want to not sign any position players, which was a preference anyway, but underscores it.
  9. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 09:34 AM) The "State and local tax one" is going to be tough. If I'm running as a Democrat in downstate Illinois and my opponent voted for this, I'm totally running on the fact that they voted to raise taxes on Illinois to cut taxes in Indiana. And they'll just say you support MS-13 and want to turn the district into a sanctuary city.
  10. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Nov 2, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) Sure, because they'll use the enormous hole in the budget they're trying to create to justify harsh austerity measures a few years down the road, and Third Way centrists and weak democrats (looking at you Lipinski) will go along with them. "starve the beast" is intentional That's the thing though, no way in hell lipinsky would vote for the pay-fors that directly affect his district.
  11. Given the circumstances it's hard to see the corporate tax rate decrease go to anything but dividend payments. You can make argument it will soften blow of higher labor costs, but I don't see it.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 06:06 PM) Given who her Dad is, I'm sure she'll land in some comfortable opportunity somewhere, that's how politics works. She will be given a job on CNN for her unique perspective into a presidential administration.
  13. The good news is it seems we have turned a corner in trying them in US court system
  14. Those republicans were so much more politically savvy than these ones, and were also coming off a budget surplus and had the "why should the government keep your money?" line.
  15. I still think White Sox see AA as the main challenge for hitters. It's charlotte that i don't think they will feel need to keep him.
  16. DOA in senate. No way mortgage-interest deduction could be touched on a partisan basis, especially when the tax decreases aren't really making up for it. Can't believe Rs would put a vote on that. They'll get crushed with ads.
  17. Poor darvish
  18. Glad I’m a casual baseball fan so I can still enjoy a great series and not just shoe gaze
  19. Can’t wait for a monotone declaration from Joe Buck in the last out.
  20. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:37 AM) It has to be indisputable evidence to overturn the call on the field, and that was anything but indisputable evidence. when he points to the ball being loose on the ground, YOU CANT EVEN SEE THE BALL Here's what I think. They called it incomplete because he dropped it well after he caught it. They realized it was unpopular so went backward trying to argue the other parts of the catch it touched the ground even though it clearly didn't.
  21. I thought we'd actually turned a corner on trying terrorists in US civilian courts but apparently very much not.
  22. QUOTE (iamshack @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:59 AM) I admittedly haven't read these other accounts, but I suspect Spacey was considered more of a drunken pervert than a "molester." I get that sexual interaction with minors is considered rape/assault regardless of consent, but I suspect most that are around the industry assume a fair share of these minors are just as interested as these acts as the offenders, and thus justify their looking the other way in that regard. For your first paragraph I agree with this, I would be surprised if that was true that's why I was asking for clarification. Second paragraph makes me ill just to read. I truly hope there were no more victims.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:52 AM) Does the NFL have camera angles that television doesn't have? If that's the case...show that angle in the official NFL review. They are pointing to something they in no way could say is showing the ball on the ground. It's a disgrace.
  24. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 10:13 AM) Also forgot to say I was clearing my own table.. in years past, although it was more crowded when a table opened up you'd sit down and within a minute a bus boy would clear and clean the table and a server would come up to you. The last few times I sat with dirty plates in front of me for 5 minutes+ without anybody caring ... just kind of a gross dining experience. That being said, they still keep the resources and staff size for Scout Seats, so that's a positive. I feel for you. One of the reasons I hate april/early may games is aside from the weather being garbage, they staff next to no one for the small attendance. You wait in line all game for food and beer, walk halfway across stadium for open food/drink areas. You think 'wow this will be great at least everything will be easy with so few people" but in reality it's just a worse atmosphere with worse attendance. Summer games with 20k are a lot easier imo than april games with 12k
  25. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 1, 2017 -> 11:42 AM) Hell, Olivia Munns lawyer told her not to do anything because of Ratners power in the industry. You need both courage and a lawyer to be brave as well We are talking about victims coming out, and I am talking about ancillary characters participating in cover up. THe courage of victims to come forward and the rest of their lives have people associating them to the worst part of their lives is incredible. The lack of courage of people who just want to keep an associate producer job so would put up, with this case, with a possible serial child molester is scary to me.
