How will your neighbors feel about that?

Technology catch-all thread
I ended up doing it at 6am when I woke up and got a early december delivery date. That's fine. I'll probably forget I did it and it will be a nice surprise. Never really felt a need to be this up on the later releases but have to say with a kid now it's really nice having such good cameras in your pocket. Hoping this one is fun to use.

Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 27, 2017 -> 09:47 AM) He is basically owed a full free agent contract at best. He has zero surplus value, if teams are giving up large amounts of talent for him on top of taking on that deal, they are fools. Correct. You'd already be paying full price for production, so the additional compensation would just be for rights. Which is difficult to price out, but no way do I see anyone giving up an all star back.

Giancarlo Stanton traded to Yankees
I still maintain that if Stanton is moved he gets moved for very little.

Lauri ices game with a 3. He fought through a tough first half by crashing boards. Really impressed.

NCAA basketball thread 2017-18
QUOTE (Da_Goob @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 08:33 PM) The Illini have a bird in the hand already. They were shooting for Ayo and a future of Okoro, Miller, and Whitney (the first two whom I would be pretty surprised if they didn't end up at Illinois) instead of THT and nobody. If it was just Ayo's family doing this, I would have taken THT probably. Since it looks like the Irvin's are behind it, you can't side with THT IMO. That’s what I’m saying. You can’t say it wasn’t Ayo himself that would not play with THT, because of it’s just handlers you take him IMO. Have a hard time believing two solid lean IL players would drop out even after guy they are tight with is...still there. And if that did happen there are still plenty of 19 targets to make up class. But if Ayo truly would have been fine himself if they forced the issue it is a mistake to turn down this guy for 19 recruits you think are coming.

NCAA basketball thread 2017-18
I’m with Russ. Bird in hand worth two in the bush. This is a big damn country full of good basketball players. Plenty of pipelines to open up with right assistants. Losing a single AAU program isn’t a deathknell.

Drug Deaths in America Are Rising Faster Than Ever
I'm somewhat confused if they count multiple drugs for a single death, and if that is why this sees virtually all rise

Our Next Manager?
QUOTE (Quin @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 10:01 AM) It was disgraceful when the Cubs did it, it'd be disgraceful if the Sox fire Ricky solely to hire Girardi. I think Ricky earned next season. Eh, I'm not against a team moving on from a player that has earned it if it helps them win. The '14 paulie swan song was not...romantic or enjoyable. If they don't think Joe can do it with younger guys best move on now.

Our Next Manager?
QUOTE (Tony @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:52 AM) Sorry Ricky, you’ve been replaced by Joe....stop me if you’ve heard this before. It's not even like I find Girardi to be this incredible manager, I just don't understand how much more production they want from the position.

Our Next Manager?
I also thought he handled bullpen well. He didn't go based on reg. season roles, he was riding hottest hands and using Robertson creatively.

Our Next Manager?
I heard rumors but am shocked they did this. Who is going to be better? WIll we see someone from front office come down?

Big week for Eloy
I hadn't really expected DR winter league to be very good competition, but with finally focusing on it some good prospects and journeyman play down there.

2017 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 09:03 AM) This is true of a lot of questions on a lot of polls. Could be some Democrats signaling "Trump bad" since W just gave an anti-Trump speech, though there has been far too much genuine "well, at least Bush wasn't as bad as Trump!" sentiment. "Do you approve of the Presidency of George W. Bush"

2017 Democratic Thread
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Oct 26, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) Let me ruin your morning: 51% of Democrats now hold a favorable view of George "International Torture Regime and 2 Never-ending Wars" W. Bush. To me this just means that people aren't answering the question actually asked.

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 02:38 PM) 800 yards better than almost anyone else we have. Not bad. I presume he's taken a lesser role because ultimately he isn't as good as their other top guys (plus the fact that last year he was kind of "thrusted" into that role due to the Chargers WR injuries. Chargers added a lot of depth after losing Allen last year, although the obvious retort is that they didn't view this guy as someone acceptable if Allen went down again. But they added Benjamin and drafted M Williams so he went from #2 to #4/5 after Allen came back.

2017-2018 NFL Thread
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 25, 2017 -> 01:41 PM) On first thought, I hate to waste any draft pick on a unrestricted free agent in a rebuilding year, but it can only help Trubisky, and his development is all that matters. It's also conditional and my impression is they only give up a 7th if he's good. Makes sense for Chargers, they are already struggling to get Mike Williams to field.
