  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 11, 2017 -> 09:08 AM) Anyone know what the recovery for the surgery mentioned would be? Didn't it also come across as so tenuous? Like he could come back for spring training, it would beome worse and then he's gone for another year.
  2. Gentry activated. Have to admit I’m excited.
  3. http://m.whitesox.mlb.com/news/article/258.../?tcid=tw_share I’m skeptical. And after all this he still may need surgery, they don’t know yet.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 02:01 PM) Does anyone really think Jerry Jones would bench a star player if he took a knee? I'd love for someone to call his bluff. What if it's a monetary penalty though?
  5. I think the talk about whether Pence performed a political stunt and if that's bad is now missing the larger story. We've talked a lot about how the right to free speech doesn't mean you are given the right to be free of counter-actions (non violent) from other free individuals, like employers etc. Well, with the NFL considering forcing players to stand (or presumably be punished) after pressure from the head of government, I think we are entering a grey area. I'd be interested to know if there's any precedent where the court has drawn a line there. WHile not government punishment for free speech, there was coercion from government placed upon a private enterprise to do something that then punished you for it.
  6. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 01:35 PM) The new yorker https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/fr...l-their-stories It's brutal. And there are now questions as to why Ronan Farrow, who worked at NBC, wrote this for the New Yorker. Woops, sorry did not see an additional NYT came out too.
  7. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 12:47 PM) So apparently the NYT published 3 credible rape allegations against him today. The new yorker https://www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/fr...l-their-stories It's brutal. And there are now questions as to why Ronan Farrow, who worked at NBC, wrote this for the New Yorker.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Oct 4, 2017 -> 10:45 AM) How did the prospects end up performing on the farm in 2017? Here's a look at the top ten (or so) prospects in each of a bunch of offensive categories across the farm this season. Stats of course are a resource of limited value in evaluating prospects, but it can give some clues, with context. NOTE: There are eligibility rules in the intro We will do a Pitchers article next week. It says Basabe has 17 SB and 13 CS with a 77% success rate. I think that CS should read 6
  9. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 09:42 AM) I get the size and stuff argument, but did he really dominate though? A 3.21 ERA, 9.21 K/9 and 1.21 WHIP isn't exactly overwhelming, especially when you compare those numbers to other SEC pitchers like Faedo and Fulmer. I was talking about the CWS.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 06:56 PM) Allowed him to make an appearance or asked him to make an appearance? That is two different things with very different connotations. I can't see any professional franchise telling the VP no to going to a game, which is very different than inviting him to a game. I wouldn't be surprised if they invited him. It was Manning's number retirement ceremony. There was lots of ceremonies.
  11. Prototypical sized college pitcher with excellent mid-90s fastball with movement and a plus slider that he can control. Played at highest level of college baseball and dominated. That.
  12. Sure but they weren't a last place team.
  13. QUOTE (SCCWS @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 07:04 AM) If Sale was not on Red Sox, I doubt they win the AL East. Boston finished in last place in 2016 so Sale as their ace was a major factor. But winning a trade will take years to determine. I would say the Red Sox got their ace and the White Sox got what they wanted, top prospects. Boston won the AL east last year. They got swept by the Indians.
  14. QUOTE (Big Hurtin @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 08:42 AM) Surprised this wasn’t posted already “This is not going to go... the way you think.” I don’t know what to think. (misdirection?) This looks like it could be really good. I don't like how much of actual plot they appeared to show. I still worry this is an empire strikes back remake.
  15. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Oct 10, 2017 -> 07:23 AM) The throw on that OPI in the first quarter was a thing of beauty. The final pick was hopefully just a rookie mistake and trying to do too much, hopefully he learns from it. Was just going to say this. Nobody could watch that play and say there was nothing special shown yesterday. The offensive line was very bad considering it was our starting group, so you'd have to chalk that up to great play by minny.
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 11:00 PM) Any statement like this is so inaccurate. John Fox's fate will be decided by how Trubisky and the Bears do the final 6 weeks or so of the season. If they can finish strong and showing signs of life, he'll be back...if not, he's out. No. This game sealed it. Too many ridiculous mistakes. He can’t win close games, he jusy creates them. Not every team looks like this I promise.
  17. Said it before I’ll say it again: nothing you can probably do but watching the fourth string backups game after game makes me really hate the nfl
  18. It’s actually amazing how we went from consistently best turnover defense to worst. Our rush is fine, why can’t we get any turnovers?
  19. QUOTE (bmags @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 09:44 PM) Reminds me of the White Sox from 15-16, miss every opportunity to shine in front of excitement. Fox needs to go. Shortsighted.
  20. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Oct 9, 2017 -> 09:59 PM) Greatest 2-point conversion in NFL history? That was fun
  21. Reminds me of the White Sox from 15-16, miss every opportunity to shine in front of excitement. Fox needs to go.
  22. I just wish this was going better but glad we got Td
