  1. Add me to list of expecting that Jose thought that was a good odea
  2. Weird when you just know a players about to crush one. Avi is must watch tv right now
  3. Can't...resist...early...returns
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 07:19 PM) Saladino"s reaction to me means he was out, but I don't know how thee replay showed conclusive evidence. He may very well have been out, but no angle we saw showed a glove doing anything except be near his elbow.
  5. MLB replay continues to be insane to me. I just never know what the hell they are looking at.
  6. QUOTE (GermanSock @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 04:18 PM) Should we be concerned that the pirates front office calls it a season and emerges as a massive seller at the deadline? The kang thing was bad but maybe even making them to want to buy more to stay in the WC race. But with marte being out too they might realize they are too far away and do a sale at the deadline. As far as I'm concerned the terrible starts of blue jays, cards, mariners and cards is all bad news. But the season is young, and they were all likely wildcard teams to start.
  7. I'd be most happy with Watson at 3, most thrilled if we trade down and get Mahomes and additional 2nd and 3rd round picks. Content with Solomon Thomas at 3 as well.
  8. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:39 PM) The Bears might be trying to trade down. http://www.letsbeardown.com/2017/04/18/rep...ade-third-pick/ I just don't see a team being that aggressive. I don't see the Browns new FO valuing two top 3 picks as worth losing a future firsts or seconds. If we can I'd be thrilled, but I'm not holding my breath. The best news would be that some team really valued a QB and wanted to jump over the Jets, but can't place who that would be.
  9. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:57 PM) Thanks. Was it known months in advance that they had agreements in place prior to the J2 signing periods? I can't remember. I think we knew we had at least had Josue Guerrero rumored at this point.
  10. QUOTE (Soha @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 12:25 PM) I know history isn't on the side of this, but I think they will spend. Part of it is because they've already dumped some salary, and a lot more will be coming off the books soon, via trades, contracts expiring, etc. And they know they aren't expected to spend a dime next winter. This is it. If they want to keep the fans motivated through this rebuild, there probably isn't a bigger thing they can do than sign Luis Robert. Now with that said, if he reaches Moncada money and you're talking $62 mil between the signing bonus and penalty...that I just can't see JR doing. But I'm not sure any of the mentioned teams contending for him would go that far. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say yes the Sox will splurge here. They have to, more than any of the other teams listed as major contenders for him. Yeah I just don't see there being the market for Moncada money. The teams that truly don't care about budget are not in it. When he gets to the $10 mill point there will likely be heavy pressure at that point. The cards are for real though, they have incentive to spend with the draft pick going to the Astros. To me they are biggest threat. Hopefully the connection with Chicago WHite Sox and Cuba can help there.
  11. Bad in sense that it could restrict our 2017 class, but I don't really think it affects our chances of getting him unless we refuse to go over tax (which would be like $200k so ) I used to think there was no way SD or whomever wouldn't continue going over for him. But now that it is clear just how much those orgs like ATL and SD spent, I have a hard time believing they would spend another 15-20 million (100% of what they spend will be taxed). For SD, that would put them at like 100 million for 2016, and I don't buy that even with a light roster in majors that is feasible. STL is the one wild card, especially with a failing ML team. But I think we can outspend them if we truly are willing to spend 25 mill on him or more. Edit: Badler has cards total (signings plus tax) at $20 million for 2016. Signing Robert at 10 million puts them at $40 million. Much more doable than the pads, who are estimated to be at $80 mill already.
  12. QUOTE (bigruss22 @ Apr 18, 2017 -> 09:26 AM) Going to my first ever march, March for Science, this Saturday in Chicago. Interested to see how it goes! It will be fun and inspiring I'm sure. Seems well organized as well.
  13. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 08:46 PM) I hope he does well, but Matt Albers was looking pretty good a year ago. I think he has a better chance just due to ability to k batters. Alberta was living a charmed life for quite a while then couldn't keep the ball in the park.
  14. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:48 PM) More like a serious reminder to continue on with the rebuild efforts No. Our 6-5 start changed everything.
  15. Great now Hawk will spend 5 minutes crying for Joe Crede
  16. I don't see KC trading Duffy. Maybe naive but I think that org will try to hunker down with what they have.
  17. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:22 PM) We are rebuilding Well we wouldn't be if only we played Davidson more and hadn't cut Peter effing Bourjos!!!
  18. cant wait for two weeks from now when same posters are counting down until we DFA Davidson
  19. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 07:10 PM) So he sounds like the gamethread. Yes
  20. This is an embarrassment of an inning for Hawk. Really tired of this crap, it's his like fourth game and he sounds bitter and tired
  21. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 02:30 PM) 4? I know you ain't sayin' Rondo is a HOF? I'm going to guess he meant the heat but even then Bosh is unlikely at this point of his struggles. Maybe there is some walking corpse veteran they had on their bench I forgot about that could be HOF.
