  1. QUOTE (Dunt @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 02:08 PM) So what the hell is going on with Frazier? I would imagine it's oblique related but the flu WAS brutal this year. I avoided it but those I knew who had it were legtimately out 4-5 days and they were not people to overdramatize an illness.
  2. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 01:49 PM) If he hits 245 he's going to have a 285 OBP. That's not acceptable even if he's hitting 30 HR. He needs to hit 280 or higher in order to have an acceptable OBP. His defense is a lost cause imo. If he can slash 280/320/480 he's a 2-3 WAR player however. Last year he hit .245 with a .309 OBP.
  3. QUOTE (chitownsportsfan @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 12:04 PM) If he keeps hitting the ball in the air and swinging at less junk outside the zone his turnaround will continue. He's not going to BABIB over 400 all year but if he keeps hitting this many line shots he'll have one around 320-350. That should allow him to hit 280 or higher. Keep it up Avi. I'll update the stats at the end of this week and see if we can spot some more trends. Avi's batting average is not his weakness, it's been his bizarre lack of power numbers despite hitting the ball hard. Hard to hit doubles on ground balls, there's not much space between the corners. That's why this increase in lifted balls is important. He can hit .245 if it means 35 doubles instead of 15, 20 home runs instead of 13-14. But, he'll also need to prove it on defense and I still have no confidence there, though I do think LF with his arm could be more helpful.
  4. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Apr 17, 2017 -> 09:35 AM) This. GM's aren't changing their idea of what Quintana is after 3 games. They have 100+ games of tape and info on him. It's a waiting game. Eventually some team will a pitcher get hurt and need Q. Some team will be hot to start the season and make a push for him. Or a team we've been talking about will pull the trigger. Rather than get all squirrely just enjoy the games he pitches like we did with Sale. Totally agree. Frankly that game on Saturday would have been a Buehrle performance I've seen quite a bit. Didn't have it, but hung on to save the bullpen and provide a fighting chance, offense comes back to win. Except we don't have offense for Q. Thought the rebuild would provide one year of relief where people could watch each game without an emotional roller coaster of trying to make playoffs. Now it's worse, it's not winning or losing a game, it's failing in an at bat or pitch that is sending posters reeling thinking all hope is lost for a rebuild. Jose Abreu is not 2 for 23 bad. Avi is not .450 good. Q's velocity isn't down. He is not fatiguing. He is not injured. He has had poor command of curve and a strange amount of HR. Believe in him.
  5. Eric Thames man. What a start to erase the doubts.
  6. Man great Portis game but bad Grant game
  7. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:53 PM) I think the difference is in the past when he gets hot, he would seem to get a lot of cheap hits, couple of ducks over the 2B, etc. He is just crushing the ball right now. I don't know if the new swing plane is it, or what, but dayum. He did have that homer fest in august 2015 for 2 weeks after Steverson pressed elevating to him but he receded to old habits quickly. So, yeah he's been hot before. But I'm rooting for him. Now that team ain't contending it's cool to watch and hope.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 06:46 PM) That'd be awesome and I'll say that I highly doubt it's the case. I hope I'm wrong but I expect a fast and hard fall back to earth at some point in the next few weeks. Yeah agree. For me it's if we get to June and his line drive % is still advanced (doesn't need to be this good obviously) and k rate has stayed lower then I'll buy in that he has finally fixed his swing. He may never be great at pitch recognition but if he can handle high fastballs and elevate pitches it may be good enough for his terrible defense.
  9. Avi is insane. Bullpen is incredible.
  10. If that inning doesn't convince you that Hawk is not the same I don't know what will.
  11. This is an Unreal stretch
  12. Avi ARE YOU INSANE
  13. Just an awful at bat from Jose from start to finish.
  14. Omg how did he miss that
  15. Jose. Pitch selection bud. There's a guy on third.
  16. Atta boy Leury. Thought he was going to get 3 at first.
  17. QUOTE (Feeky Magee @ Apr 16, 2017 -> 05:50 PM) The version of Kahnle that throws strikes is interesting Still doesn't seem to really know where ball is going when it leaves his hand but obviously a bit more zoned in and connected on low pitches well.
  18. QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 03:18 PM) Yes to both. Great location for Santana and this was simply a terrible lineup put out by RR Lol this board man
  19. I've really not seen such poor command from Q. This is crazy
  20. QUOTE (bmags @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 01:33 PM) If buxton gets a hit then panic This is sarcastic btw
  21. If buxton gets a hit then panic
  22. #madforthad
  23. QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Apr 15, 2017 -> 08:59 AM) I'm good with this thread staying put. This team isn't gonna keep winning every game Thanks Greg
