I'm gonna say Greg with with Kasich. Don't think the smugness of Cruz or Rubio would sway him.

BA is located in NC, and those teams finally have some really interesting prospects. Going to get a lot of good stuff from that team this year.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:16 AM) So using chemical weapons on innocent women and children is a form of domestic governance. Gotcha. I know that was said rather lightly, I don't mean to demean the deaths. But after Libya and Iraq, it is hard for me to say once again that intervening and stopping air support accomplishes anything. It may prolong the war, weaken Assad. But, Assad will still bomb the s*** out of civilian areas. Assad could tumble and a group of violent extremists could take over and wreak havoc over the pro-Assad population. If this is an isolated strike that prevents all future chemical weapon uses in this civil war that maybe is worth while. I'm not ruling it out. But I'm deeply skeptical this is where it ends, and that it achieves an end-goal in Syria.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 10:28 AM) Obama went to Congress to ask for authorization to make a military strike on Assad, which the Republicans denied him. He did this after having participated in military intervention in Libya (which did not go well and is still a s***show), increasing troop presence in Afghanistan, and having a large scale drone program running. The idea that Obama didn't have military intervention on the table is delusional. Right. It wasn't just republicans though, it wasn't close to passing in the house. But also, Congress was right. This is the most hawkish, reasonable position I could support in Syria: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/44653...mp-syria-strike But even that, what are we really propping up in Northern Syria?

Japan and US were at war. I do think bombs solve problems when two countries are at war. I think they have significantly less efficacy when we are using them to coerce leaders to run their countries differently.

QUOTE (JenksIsMyHero @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:50 AM) Come on now, if this were out of the blue that would be one thing, but this is a response to a chemical attack, using weapons that they promised were gone 3 years ago. A response was absolutely necessary. We went the political route in 2013 and where did it get us? Nowhere. At least Trump has the element of "we have no idea what the f*** he would do, maybe we should think twice about using these heinous weapons on women and children." Also, not sure why you guys are worried about Russia. You've been arguing that Trump and Putin are tight for months. This is so ridiculous.

Any of the financial people want to explain how this works and why they'd do it? http://www.businessinsider.com/spotify-is-...t-an-ipo-2017-4 Am I correct that it basically allows investors to offload their stock on a public market but it is not issuing new stock?

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:57 AM) Surely Jared Kushner already has a replacement for Assad already in mind. Drum roll. Tiffany Trump. In all seriousness, that was the easy part. It's anything but Air Force, missile and predator strikes that gets tricky. No Fly or Safe Zones....good luck bringing Russia on board with that now. Even if Russia walked away today (and they're already back in the air with the Syrian Air Force), nobody, not even McMaster or Mattis, has the first clue about what to do after they remove Assad. And removing him without boots on the ground and Russia contesting the air space, a long long quagmire waiting to happen (again). I think this is a good line. Not becoming leaders in military action like Syria and Yemen is actually the harder decision. It's way too easy to go to war in control of the US military.

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:36 AM) US economy only added 98k jobs in March. Overall this was actually a pretty good report.
-
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 09:11 AM) What does that mean if Russia had troops stationed at the air base that launched a chemical attack? Yep.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Apr 7, 2017 -> 08:33 AM) I had hoped a deeply unpopular and thus far totally incompetent President launching a military strike wouldn't trigger the war boners, but I was very dumb. The only true centrist policy is war. That said, there is some element of staged punishment here that I wouldn't totally be against. But these things don't de-escalate and it shouldn't have occurred without Congressional approval. Thought Congress turned a corner there in 2013 but nothing shows your serious-ness like air strikes.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 03:56 PM) Maybe Zimmerman and Fulmer will give them more juice, they still have some bats, but I haven't felt them in it at all today. Well a few days ago they jumped all over our best pitcher. They are old, so they may be volatile, but still think if Fulmer is close to last year they could have 3 good pitchers and quite a few dingers out of that lineup.

Well I will go out on a limb and say Anibal Sanchez is still terrible. Queue Sanchez being released and white sox signing him.
-
We just signed Mike Pelfrey for a legitimate amount of starts and people are concerned about winning too many games. Win or lose, all that matters is right players are performing. This is a good day for that.

QUOTE (fathom @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 03:32 PM) Anderson with two hits, Davidson looking great and good approaches all around. It's been a good game

QUOTE (sin city sox fan @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 02:57 PM) James Shields appears to be back! If we can get him to go 7 or 8 innings every start and give up only 1 run or less, this could be huge for us! Yo it's the fourth inning.
-
I think we should try and steal all the time this year. Maybe we can get really good at it like the Padres and when we are an actually good team, have that in our repertoire.
-
QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Apr 6, 2017 -> 02:44 PM) Because he homered in one game? Their value isn't going to chang on a game-by-game basis. Hi, welcome to game threads

An insurmountable lead*Checks 2016 ERA* -er lea-erning experience for James Shields.

Nice! Great start for davidson. He seems to get big mental boosts from establishing himself early. Hope he keeps it going.
