Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 02:06 PM) They also lost the best closer in the game. Meh, unpopular opinon I'm sure but I'd rather have Davis than Chapman, though I know people think Davis is injured. Davis seems much more of the Andrew Miller firehose reliever than Chapman, who needs to be your closer.

White Sox looking to deal Robertson
QUOTE (The Ginger Kid @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 02:29 PM) Bummed about Jansen going back to LA -- was hoping we could package Frazier/Robertson Yeah, seemed like Dodgers/White Sox had a good rapport after Frazier trade and constant rumors, but clear they liked their own options more (and I do too), with exception of Rich Hill.

White Sox looking to deal Robertson
Trying to temper expectation on Robertson trade so I'm pleasantly surprised. Severino sounds like one of those guys that Soxtalk gets obsessed with though and doesn't work out, but then 5 years later that guy is playing in Korea (unless we get him, then he'll be great).

He looks like a Dan Hayes type.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:51 PM) Eh, I wouldn't say the Cubs got better. But they are still the best team in the NL without question. I agree I wonder if the Dodgers get on the Quintana sweepstakes. They may need to deal a contract, but Quintana of course has a very team friendly deal and will improve their rotation significantly. Yeah cubs have a bit of an unknown with Fowler gone but get a big plus with Schwarber.

2016-2017 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:50 PM) I could have SWORN the Rams JUST extended Jeff Fisher. http://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/1819995...eles-rams-coach According to this it was signed "well before" the preseason but they never acknowledged it. Pretty funny

To giving an extension in season to firing in season. Has that EVER happened before?

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 01:11 PM) Given how much money they spent on the other see, I could see where they look at Q and his price and value it more. That said, Friedman isn't one with a reputation of being willing to make an aggressive pay (and that is what it will take to get Q, imo). They just seem very comfortable going forward with a team with a handful of superstars and an unreal amount of average to slightly above average veteran depth. And no urgency to "go for it" with trading prospects.

I'm closing this thread and cleaning up the posts. This isn't how or what we discuss with the White Sox organization.

Otani to be posted in 2017 Offseason
http://sports.yahoo.com/news/report-mlb-no...-210526575.html Report saying no exception. I think MLB is well run now, but this is so insanely shortsighted and dumb by the owners to not make it easier to sign the worlds best to your league. We are talking about an international superstar when he comes over.

Otani to be posted in 2017 Offseason
I need to update this. MLB made clear to agents last week there was no Otani exception and I find it highly unlikely he will take that risk. He would make more in Japan no doubt.

Salary Relief
QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 11:34 AM) My initial impression is that the dodgers care far less about this than White Sox fans think the Dodgers care about this, but I would be down for a long overdue BMac reunion. This held up well.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 11:15 AM) Yeah, Reed/Tucker/Fisher/Whitely for Q alone is alot to ask. I think offering Jennings or Putnam balances that out a bit. Astros have a really good bullpen. If we were to trade Putnam/Jennings straight up to them not sure we get anywhere close to anyone mentioned so I don't think they add anything for this deal.
-
Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
I think the Astros would never agree to that. It's between Fisher is v. good but doubt we can get both and I prefer Tucker. Reed/Tucker/Martes is really the "makes sense" scenario here. My dream scenario is the Rodgers/Tapia/Pint deal.

Trade/FA Predictions for Rest of Off Season
Sierra has a good plate approach and makes good contact. Question would be if he gets power but he is only 20 and does have a 55 hit tool. He was moved up too quickly and went down and found himself again.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 10:50 AM) I'll throw this out there for entertainment purposes only. Offer Q + Reliever ( Jennings or Putnam) for Reed, Fisher, Martes and Whitely. If that's close but Houston isn't quite satisfied then offer to take Singletons contract off their hands as part of the trade. Houston gets Q + one of Jennings/Putnam for Reed/Fisher/Martes/Whitley/Singleton. Is that close? Kinda feels like it still favors the Sox to a point Houston says no. Thoughts? I just want Tucker a lot more than Martes for no other reason than Tucker is an outfielder and we have none.

Trade/FA Predictions for Rest of Off Season
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 09:57 AM) Sierra and Sosa are decent prospects, but neither offers any power to speak of Sosa does not walk much, and is not regarded as a plus hitter which gives me concerns about the bat playing at the mlb level Sierra has good speed and a tick above average hit tool, but I'd really like to see our system add some power I don't think we are going to get much for Frazier.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 09:03 AM) Bless this paragraph. Things certainly seem way different. I was listening to the BA podcast as they were laughing at how Moncada and Kopech would definitely be in majors on opening day due to how aggressive we are. Guess that's changed. I really want to know if we'd still have selected Burdi had we known we would be selling soon.

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 08:56 AM) Watch some team give Barkley a big deal. He looks like he could be a solid back up. You are probably in pretty good shape if he is your back up or third string. Naw, no chance he gets a big deal. I wish we'd have given him two years though would have been nice to cut Hoyer.

If you guys want to get mad read the Crawfish Hunting thread about Quintana rumors. The most important thing to know is that Joe Musgrove could already give them Quintana like production next year.

Trade/FA Predictions for Rest of Off Season
QUOTE (beautox @ Dec 12, 2016 -> 08:53 AM) with turner likely going back to the dodgers Frazier's market appears to be the cards, mets and rockies. I doubt the dodgers want to push much further past the 220m that Olney is reporting. Jansen is likely to get an AAV of 15-17mil Robertson + Jones and Lawrie as a throw in to play 2B could go a long way in securing the back end of their pen and not pushing them to much further into the tax, especially if the sox pick up some money on Robertson to bring back an even nicer package. I really like cards prospects. If we could pry Magneuris Sierra (username change to bmagneuris would be on table) and Sosa from them I'd be very happy. Also wouldn't mind if we got some wild card like Breyvic Valera.

Trade/FA Predictions for Rest of Off Season
I think Carter will sign for about what he would have made on Arb ($9 mill or more) which may be too rich for us.
