  1. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 03:49 PM) Usually when we sign a "Coopll fix em" guy someone asks the GM if Cooper had any say or input beforehand and everyone always says no, with the exception of Thornton where everyone said "Shut up Coop now you have him". Except for Zach Duke. Remember Coop going down to nashville with his fancy ipad?
  2. It's funny the variation. JJ Cooper said he wouldn't do the Musgrove/Tucker/Martes deal for Quintana and Law says he wouldn't even respond to it. Law says Giolito is still top prospect with mechanics screwed while Lopez is a bullpen piece. Cooper says Lopez is the superior prospect to Giolito.
  3. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 03:08 PM) I think that the EE market is holding this up. He's asking for money with no teams willing to pay that price right now - once he moves, then it becomes possible to judge the value for both Frazier and Abreu better. I don't see this ending soon thou. Cespedes waited for a while and got exactly what he wanted.
  4. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 02:59 PM) Jones would not come cheap in a trade either He had a strong 2016 and is signed to a cheap contract I didn't suggest he would come cheap. I am suggesting he is a much better bullpen piece because he is more likely to succeed in Coors field. Robertson is a terrible idea there.
  5. QUOTE (shipps @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) If I were any team that needed bullpen help I would be after Jones over Robertson. Well yes, but Jones throws fireballs and that is the only pitch they are confident in.
  6. If I were Rockies I'd be after Nate Jones much more than Robertson.
  7. I'm happy for Rockies. They have some amazing players and are trying to win with them. They, unlike where the sox were at, also have a good farm to use to improve. I say keep going! I'd be glad to help them!
  8. Craig Sager passed away. Cancer sucks.
  9. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 02:12 PM) The White Sox aren't forfeiting any draft picks. They want to trade everyone. How is this still not clear for people? If Rick Hahn had it his way, he would have made 4 more trades right now. They want to be terrible this year. And they should be. Conspiracy theorists.
  10. That's a different argument.
  11. Is that true though? What is Quintana if you cut the effectiveness of his curveball in half?
  12. "A covert response would significantly limit the deterrence effect, he added. "If you can't see it, it's not going to deter the Chinese and North Koreans and Iranians and others." The Obama administration says it still has more than 30 days to do exactly that."
  13. Thank you. That is such a stupid comment re: Eaton type trade. Blackmon is on a 3 year deal (now), Eaton on a cheap 5 years of control. Eaton is 2 years younger. Eaton is better at everything except dingers.
  14. Guys our major league team will be awful next year. It's like you forgot how bad we were and now take away our cy young finalist and gold glove/all star snubbed outfielder.
  15. The one thing I'd be worried about if I were rockies is what is Quintana with a less effective curveball?
  16. If they include Reyes they are in the conversation, period. If they don't, hard to see match.
  17. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 08:01 AM) A full season of time in AAA is a Long time to keep someone there, if they're playing ell enough to earn the callup. With what they've already said it seems likely these guys start in AAA and are there at least long enough to give another year of team control - late May. Starting guys in AAA and letting their performance dictate when they get called up would already be dramatically different from the path we've had guys on the last 2 seasons where the needs of the big leagues squad determined who got called up more than if they were ready. While a #1 draft pick would be nice, if a guy has earned his callup out of that group, call him up. Turning these guys into successful big leaguers is more important to me than picking #1, and they may darn well hit the next level and struggle anyway even if they're succeeding in AAA. It sounds like this draft has some pretty high impact players anyway. Beer isn't even consensus.
  18. QUOTE (TheFutureIsNear @ Dec 15, 2016 -> 08:25 AM) Who are the other teams though? Serious question. How many playoff contenders need pitching and have a top 25 (or close to it) prospect they are willing to give up? It's gotta be a very short list. Yankees, Rockies...they are the only 2 serious contenders I see. Pirates have a need for pitching and the prospects, but the odds of them trading 3-4 or good prospects for 1 guy seems very low to me. Cards, Indians, Rangers, Red Sox, Giants, Orioles, Mets, Nats, Cubs, Dodgers....all playoff contenders that aren't going to be trading for Q in my eyes. I could very much see cardinals in this mix just they have fewer bullets. Would need Reyes. Their fans are also obsessed with Kelten Wong as a trade piece but he's of little value to me. Though I do think he is a good bounceback candidate elsewhere.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 08:28 PM) The NYT times article already said this is exactly what the Obama admin did. Not really. It said US told Russia retribution would be coming and hinted at a big cyber attack before Jan 21
  20. https://twitter.com/JonHeyman/status/809397872202485760 Edit: see Post below. I misread first tweet. No "magic words" yet spoken. no one's said magic words yet for quintana. price should be v high. 4.5 avg war last 4 yrs. only issue's been run support. - Heyman
  21. QUOTE (reiks12 @ Dec 14, 2016 -> 10:19 PM) Unfortunately I have no patience. I'm in Thailand at the moment and my gf is starting to get angry at me for waking up at 5am to check my phone to see if any trades went down. Ugh, she needs to understand this is important!

Caleb Joseph is my new pick (or the Astros catcher we picked up on waivers)

No Navarro ever and most of those catchers are bad framers.
