  1. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) Let's suppose the Nats get Eaton and Q without Turner....you are looking at something like this.... Giolito, Robles, Lopez, Fedde, Kieboom, Dunning, Nuese, Stevenson, Severino, Soto. Those are their top 8 prospects, plus Severino, their #14 prospect, and Soto, their #15 prospect. How the hell can they feel good about that? Austin Voth then becomes their #1 prospect. That's a terrible farm system. OR, they include Turner and it's something like.... Turner, Robles,Lopez, Fedde, Stevenson, Severino. Using my "Sale was worth half of our fake trade" calculations, would people be okay with Turner, Robles, Severino
  2. Man this is one I have to say I'd be pissed without Turner. But why on EARTH would Eaton be valuable to them if he's not pushing turner to SS?
  3. Plus since Moncada is already paid I doubt he will care that much.
  4. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) I'm all for acquiring the best players possible, but for the position players close to the majors, I think I'd target outfielders or corner infielders above ss. Interestingly, however, many of the top prospects happen to be ss. Crazy thing is how the SS have such great hit tools vs. OF that are a lot more raw hit tools now. Basically if you are athletic people are pushing you to SS. I bet it used to be CF.
  5. So we just traded Sale for aobut half the guys people wanted. Take your Quintana trades and halve them, and add a deeply flawed bullpen pitcher.
  6. http://www.espn.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=15286 The line many probably wanted to hear sorry if duplicate: "But some evaluators thought Boston’s offer was staggering, a value-for-value overpay by a team willing and able to do so. “No way anyone was close to that,” one rival executive noted. Keith Law writes that Chicago got great return."
  7. And while I say that my ultimate hope is getting Brendan Rodgers for Q
  8. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:24 AM) Take away Sale's strike out ability and Q's numbers are right there wifh Sale's. Now factor in the extra year of control, a dismal FA pitching market and equally dismal pitching trade market, Q's durability and clean mechanics; Q's real value begins to show. Just my opinion but for the most part, Q has been undervalued on this board for a few years now. In '15, many wanted to trade Q for an already problematic and declining Puig. Before that, in '14, many wanted to trade Q for Castro. Q may not have the sexy stuff or the strike outs but he still puts up very good numbers that make him a legit ace. If Q does get traded, it will be for a very good haul. Hopefully we find out sometime today. It is Wednesday after all. It will be a good haul, but this board undervalues other teams prospects.
  9. Yet he came back in September and was still dominant.
  10. Last I hear Royals only trading Dyson/Davis, and going for Soler means it's not a rebuild. (In 2017)
  11. QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) I disagree. I'm concerned Hahn wasn't able to get even 1 MLB ready player for the best pitcher in the AL. Earlier in the thread it was reported that Hahn re-initiated talks with DD by saying the Sox we're wiling to "come off" the guys they had previously asked about. I don't get that approach. Moncada will probably be good but I would have liked a MLB player in there as well. That's not too much to ask for the best pitcher in the AL who's left handed and paid peanuts. Apparently Nats offered Lopez, so we were offered some. We took the players we liked most, which I'm happy about.
  12. QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:36 AM) Word this morning that the Nats package included Giolito, Robles, AND Lopez The more Nats get squeezed the better for us. Lost out on Davis now too. That is a very competitive package, had to be hard to turn down.

QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:36 AM) If 2017 will be a true rebuild year, why not sign Suzuki or Hanigan as a stopgap? Even if the Sox were able to acquire a catching prospect in another trade, my guess is that they would still need a placeholder for 2017. I mainly hate it because of the stories of how Rodon lost more strikes than any other pitcher. Need to get him his own catcher and those guys are terrible.

Hundley is available, again, terrible framer. Our offense will be a black hole but Pena's Defense is supposedly phenomenal.
  15. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) The irony is...you just made the correct and convincing case that the White Sox don't have anyone like that, or at least didn't as recently as 2014. Hopefully they've hired someone since then. Promote whomever worked with Anderson.
  16. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Hot take there Guys, they need to fill HOURS of content
  17. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) Gotta hope EE/Bautista/Trumbo don't sign for peanuts and tank Abreu's value Wondering if Bautista will go for biggest deal or reasonable deal + contender.
  18. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Yes, deals gutting corporate taxes and regulations are done all the time. Carrier wanted these breaks and got them in exchange for a town number of jobs that make trump look good, but it's the exact opposition of what his whole campaign rhetoric was. And Carrier is going to spend the money automating the plant, which will ultimately result in fewer jobs. That's a very real problem for the economic future in general, but this isn't some sort of "trump gets tough!" deal it was being reported as. Production has been stagnant, reality is depressed wages after 09 may have resulted in firms relying on human labor instead of investing in infrastructure like automation. Probably need more of it not less. Unlikely with our new economic policy that emphasizes human manufacturing and energy as the heart of the economy. Just like we should have focused on textiles in the 1800s.
  19. I wonder if Moncada and Kopech would land Turner... /green
  20. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) Because they think he is cheaper Cheaper is relative. The top Sale suitors White Sox chose because we required a top 10 prospect. Sox may choose a bevy of 20-100 prospects this time plus more.
