Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 02:10 PM) For Eaton alone? Yes, they have the prospects. But for Quintana + Eaton they do not have the pieces to cover the surplus value without leaving their farm in shambles That, and I don't trust us to be able to milk enough value out of one team's farm to justify that sort of a trade. Washington is likely going to offer something like: Giolito/Robles + Fedde/Neuse or Stevenson/Severino for Quintana and Eaton I would not accept that if I am the White Sox Thank you. This is more tethered to reality. No way we package Q plus Eaton unless you get a premiere talent like Turner, in that case you get substantially less in quantity. I'd imagine for Eaton we'd get Robles, Kieboom, C+ prospect, Bullpen Arm

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
What is Gio Gonzalez value even at after last year? Top 100 prospect?

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:48 PM) Kopech and Moncada is elite though. Plus two fillers. Q/Eaton aren't that much less valuable then Sale (on the trade market, considering surplus, etc). Okay so Kopech is elite but Robles isn't? Why? Robles tool grades are almost identical to Moncadas with more defense/speed on Robles and less power.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:43 PM) I just don't think two top thirty players is that great of value for a guy who has been one of the best outfielders in baseball and is signed to a cheap contract for five years. Given bust rates of prospects, I don't see it. I think we need top talent + depth and need to get that in our packages for Q and / or Eaton. When it comes to Frazier / Robertson, I hope we get a back end top 100 guy for them plus some low level flyers (or maybe some arms we like that we think we can convert to relievers). Expect a bit more for Frazier then Robertson and think we get more for Robertson at the deadline then today. Nate Jones is interesting, but you wonder how much his injury history downplays the value he would have. The thing is we just had this conversation with Sale and he got nowhere near the filling in of talent after the premier guys that we all expected. I'm pretty confident in saying that if we take all of soxtalks mega deals and cut them in half it is way more accurate. Now, you may not take those top 30 players, but I'm not sure you get much more back.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
We can say two all stars all we want but a lot of Eaton's value was due to RF defense. I have a hard time saying Q + Eaton make the NATIONALS* that much better considering they'd be losing a possibly better CFer in Turner and already have such a dominant rotation. And so then if we get back Robles/Lopez and 3-4 more would we be happy? I don't know. But do sox think nats prospects are superior to other "higher" returns? If they feel that way then maybe do it. I wanted us to target players we thought would be the stars, not just deal templates that say what fair value is.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
I'm fairly certain Nats may view Giolito and lopez as near interchangeable. I think a fair deal for Eaton is Robles and Lopez. Adding more is unlikely. And two top 30 players for eaton is a GREAT trade.

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 01:30 PM) Let's suppose the Nats get Eaton and Q without Turner....you are looking at something like this.... Giolito, Robles, Lopez, Fedde, Kieboom, Dunning, Nuese, Stevenson, Severino, Soto. Those are their top 8 prospects, plus Severino, their #14 prospect, and Soto, their #15 prospect. How the hell can they feel good about that? Austin Voth then becomes their #1 prospect. That's a terrible farm system. OR, they include Turner and it's something like.... Turner, Robles,Lopez, Fedde, Stevenson, Severino. Using my "Sale was worth half of our fake trade" calculations, would people be okay with Turner, Robles, Severino

Eaton to Nats/Giolito, Lopez, Dunning to Sox
Man this is one I have to say I'd be pissed without Turner. But why on EARTH would Eaton be valuable to them if he's not pushing turner to SS?

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
Plus since Moncada is already paid I doubt he will care that much.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 11:39 AM) I'm all for acquiring the best players possible, but for the position players close to the majors, I think I'd target outfielders or corner infielders above ss. Interestingly, however, many of the top prospects happen to be ss. Crazy thing is how the SS have such great hit tools vs. OF that are a lot more raw hit tools now. Basically if you are athletic people are pushing you to SS. I bet it used to be CF.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
So we just traded Sale for aobut half the guys people wanted. Take your Quintana trades and halve them, and add a deeply flawed bullpen pitcher.

I think Q's control makes Braves a good option.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
http://www.espn.com/blog/buster-olney/insider/post?id=15286 The line many probably wanted to hear sorry if duplicate: "But some evaluators thought Boston’s offer was staggering, a value-for-value overpay by a team willing and able to do so. “No way anyone was close to that,” one rival executive noted. Keith Law writes that Chicago got great return."

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 07:24 AM) Take away Sale's strike out ability and Q's numbers are right there wifh Sale's. Now factor in the extra year of control, a dismal FA pitching market and equally dismal pitching trade market, Q's durability and clean mechanics; Q's real value begins to show. Just my opinion but for the most part, Q has been undervalued on this board for a few years now. In '15, many wanted to trade Q for an already problematic and declining Puig. Before that, in '14, many wanted to trade Q for Castro. Q may not have the sexy stuff or the strike outs but he still puts up very good numbers that make him a legit ace. If Q does get traded, it will be for a very good haul. Hopefully we find out sometime today. It is Wednesday after all. It will be a good haul, but this board undervalues other teams prospects.

Quintana Rumors: Round and round and round we go
Last I hear Royals only trading Dyson/Davis, and going for Soler means it's not a rebuild. (In 2017)

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (Lemon_44 @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:39 AM) I disagree. I'm concerned Hahn wasn't able to get even 1 MLB ready player for the best pitcher in the AL. Earlier in the thread it was reported that Hahn re-initiated talks with DD by saying the Sox we're wiling to "come off" the guys they had previously asked about. I don't get that approach. Moncada will probably be good but I would have liked a MLB player in there as well. That's not too much to ask for the best pitcher in the AL who's left handed and paid peanuts. Apparently Nats offered Lopez, so we were offered some. We took the players we liked most, which I'm happy about.

Red Sox acquire Chris Sale, White Sox get Moncada+
QUOTE (NCsoxfan @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:36 AM) Word this morning that the Nats package included Giolito, Robles, AND Lopez The more Nats get squeezed the better for us. Lost out on Davis now too. That is a very competitive package, had to be hard to turn down.

Catcher
QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Dec 7, 2016 -> 06:36 AM) If 2017 will be a true rebuild year, why not sign Suzuki or Hanigan as a stopgap? Even if the Sox were able to acquire a catching prospect in another trade, my guess is that they would still need a placeholder for 2017. I mainly hate it because of the stories of how Rodon lost more strikes than any other pitcher. Need to get him his own catcher and those guys are terrible.

Hundley is available, again, terrible framer. Our offense will be a black hole but Pena's Defense is supposedly phenomenal.

Sox see Moncada as 2b
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:30 PM) The irony is...you just made the correct and convincing case that the White Sox don't have anyone like that, or at least didn't as recently as 2014. Hopefully they've hired someone since then. Promote whomever worked with Anderson.
