  1. QUOTE (Username @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Exactly. I know it's not a position player, but a valuable ML player like Ross would certainly elevate the Sale package well beyond the Miller package. Definitely elevates it. It's impossible to get too upset without knowing rest. It's a package one of two teams could put together so far. We just don't know the rest.
  2. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) Yeah, it was an overpay for Miller, who never deserved the ace label, but it still seemingly provides a reasonable enough template for dealing a legit ace. The hard part to recreate is inciarte. When deal is done I'm optimistic deal will be hybrid of Miller/Hamels. Robles is about where Swanson was and Giolito better than any Jamel's received.
  3. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) Anything new on Twitter? It's killing me not having access to it right now. No. BWAA is requiring voters to release their ballots publicly for HOF vote
  4. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) If people truly believe the things they've said about the White Sox being good at developing pitchers, then a guy who has strong stuff but hasn't yet translated that into results would still be an extraordinary get for the White Sox. The question is, do we have confidence in the org turning stuff into pitching? I will say that scared me. Sox success has been finding different repertoires they can be successful with in the zone, not smoothing out deliveries. Rodon is still our work in progress.
  5. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:38 AM) I would love Robles and Giolito back in a package. It depends on what the other 3-4 pieces back are however. With that said, I'm still holding out for a Sale and Robertson for Benintendi, Devers and others package. Yeah. Ugh Benintendi is so awesome. One part to hang our hat on though is apparently Robles wrists are lightning quick like Benintendi. And that Benintendi is a great example of finding your power in your age 20-21 years
  6. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:11 AM) One good position prospect for Sale not good. He is described by BP as the “toolsy 19-year-old center fielder But unlike ours of past he has an advanced approach at the plate including good two strike approach and high contact rate. Basically sounds like Byron Buxton.
  7. I'm old enough to remember when Benintendi and Devers were nowhere near enough for this board and the rest of the top ten was rattled off.
  8. Man if I wake up and something is official I'll be pissed.
  9. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) Only thing to really handwring over is the actual result of the deal and even then, we won't know the long term impacts for a while. What looks great on paper could be terrible and what looks bad on paper could be great. Nah gotta give constant analysis, Sox rely on my insights
  10. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) Just in time for the new season on new year's. Lucky you. I think the best part of British television, especially Sherlock, is that the episodes are long and they're done airing in a few weeks. Oh and make sure you watch the Christmas Special The Abominable Bride. I hated the Christmas special but loved the rest, especially the wedding episode.
  11. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) Confused about the hand-wringing here. Giolito/Robles is a great starting point and matches any other two prospect combination of the other teams. Turner is not necessary and not sure I'd want it anyway because it'd be pretty close to a 1-1 swap, I don't think any additional pieces would be that good if he were to be included (same with Bregman). Giolito/Robles is the best chance to get quality and quantity, we need both. Handwringing mostly came after garbage Bowden report
  12. Would loooove Hoffman.
  13. Just remembered to turn on MLB network. Complete media overload.
  14. He would be so great in Colorado.
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) I'm thinking long and hard if Boston comes in tomorrow with Moncada/Benintendi/Devers and nothing else. Ha, I can get around that by saying benintendi is a major leaguer now I guess. Feel same though.
  16. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Why are the Nats eating dinner at 11pm eastern time? lol Very Argentine
  17. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) A 16th pick from 2012 and a foreign amateur free agent for a 3 years of sale is a massive fail. for the 13th pick of 2010
  18. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:48 PM) I would be pissed if the final piece is a low minor league player We all should be. I have beat the "be reasonable" drum, but no three minor leaguers = Sale. This is a promising framework though. Edit: as we all have been, be skeptical of Bowden.
  19. Must be why it's not that close yet. Would imagine the rounding out is only getting discussed now.
  20. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Mark Zuckerman ‏@MarkZuckerman 8m8 minutes ago Entire #Nats baseball ops department currently at dinner. Certainly looks like any deal for Sale isn't on the verge of completion. Haha I love stuff like this
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Bowden: The White Sox and Nationals are far down the road on a trade that will send Chris Sale to the Nationals in exchange for Lucas Giolito, Victor Robles and a low minor leaguer. Reynaldo Lopez and Koda Glover will not be in the proposed deal. The structure of the deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal. Oh. Gross. Hope negotiations up that times a lot.
  22. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) The Nationals have a lot of those same types of pieces. They don't get as much hype as they aren't in the Boston media market, but as I outlined a few pages ago, they can load up a deal with the best of them. The one spot they don't have as much of is ready made position players, but they are loaded with them at the lower levels of the minors, all of the way through to some big time guys signed out of Latin America. That's good to hear, so hard to get info on those levels.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:24 PM) I'll just go with the notion that there are no sure things in these types of trades. I wanted near ready position players, so the Sox didn't have to develop them. That's totally reasonable, those supplements will bet top 75 and much less sure things
  24. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Wanted a sure thing offensive player. Package isn't bad though compared to what Braves would give I hear you but Robles would be at that level soon.
  25. Rabbit alluded to this on twitter but what I most regret about it veering away from Red Sox were the devers/kopech/Rodriguez pieces that made it a strong deal up and down. Excited about severino/ etc but much less so.
