  2. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:57 PM) Hot take there Guys, they need to fill HOURS of content
  3. QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:03 PM) Gotta hope EE/Bautista/Trumbo don't sign for peanuts and tank Abreu's value Wondering if Bautista will go for biggest deal or reasonable deal + contender.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:54 PM) Yes, deals gutting corporate taxes and regulations are done all the time. Carrier wanted these breaks and got them in exchange for a town number of jobs that make trump look good, but it's the exact opposition of what his whole campaign rhetoric was. And Carrier is going to spend the money automating the plant, which will ultimately result in fewer jobs. That's a very real problem for the economic future in general, but this isn't some sort of "trump gets tough!" deal it was being reported as. Production has been stagnant, reality is depressed wages after 09 may have resulted in firms relying on human labor instead of investing in infrastructure like automation. Probably need more of it not less. Unlikely with our new economic policy that emphasizes human manufacturing and energy as the heart of the economy. Just like we should have focused on textiles in the 1800s.
  5. I wonder if Moncada and Kopech would land Turner... /green
  6. QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:32 PM) Because they think he is cheaper Cheaper is relative. The top Sale suitors White Sox chose because we required a top 10 prospect. Sox may choose a bevy of 20-100 prospects this time plus more.
  7. QUOTE (kwill @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 05:27 PM) Am I the only one who would like to keep Quintana at least for another year? I would trade everyone else but I expect the Sox window to start to be 2019 and beyond. Plus, I would like to watch a few games next year. I thought I felt this way but now that it's started and I saw who we got I feel like we just need to make it official and tear it down, focus on player development as much as possible.
  8. Kinda feel like this is same thread: <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8">
  9. Yeah so MLB INTL team said to GMs today that there is no Otani exception so doubtful he arrives until 2020.
  10. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:28 PM) From what I understand, they can pay any player what they want to, but they have a cap as a team that cannot be breached. Something like $5 million. That kinda sucks. But I guess we win longterm for Jerry as owner at least.
  11. QUOTE (daa84 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:37 PM) another interesting angle is to ask who you preferred out of the following: Moncada, Benintendi, Swanson or Bregman. Bregman and Swanson were said to be off limits. Honestly liked Moncada/Benintendi most, Bregman next, then Swanson.
  12. QUOTE (CWSpalehoseCWS @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:36 PM) If you mean they definitely deserve to clinch a playoff spot only to have lose their best player in the middle of the season, then sure, haha. Honestly even "Charlotte fans getting to watch more than garbage for just 1 month" is good enough for me. They nearly made playoffs at like 15 under .500 last year.
  13. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:26 PM) Moncada #1, Kopech #30, No idea if that is latest up to date but would not be shocked if latest AFL run will lead to top 20 prospects for Kopech in the March rankings.
  14. Even though I think Giolito and Robles was a good starter return, the Moncada articles much more fun than the latest Giolito articles.
  15. Does anyone know how intl free agency will work this summer? I know that the penalized teams are capped but are the sox capped at any number? Assuming that there are some rules to not allow the remaining teams to avoid penalties the next few years with the CBA going into place.
  16. Tough for me. Sox have had trouble developing bats, and think that Moncada's power profile will lead to a player with a better bat. But benintendi will be a very good contact hitter with totally respectable power numbers and probably one year of 20-25 home runs that if he sticks as a CFer may have made him a more well rounded guy. I loved benintendi, him and anderson had the same quick wrists to catch up to anything. But pretty sure Moncada is gonna be the bat we needed.
  17. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 04:00 PM) I would let Moncada start the season at AAA and see how he does. What is the point of rushing him? Also lord knows that the Charlotte Knights deserve it.
  18. Hey. Kudos to Hahn. He's getting hte top level guys I wanted to see. But now that we know who else was offered his career will be defined by if any of them outperform Moncada/kopech who else we get for Q and others.
  19. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:54 PM) Samardzija? Who? Don't think there has ever been that name spoken around here. You must be talkinga bout Semein?
  20. I'd prefer to go the depth route for Q. Get more players a bit younger and in the 20-100 range to open it up to different teams. Go back to Atlanta, Houston. Go back to Nats, maybe we still get Robles.
  21. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:52 PM) Does Basabe go by his middle-name? I see he has a twin bro with the same first name but different middle name. I vote that Basabe will go down as the single most misspelled sox name on soxtalk since buehrle (no idea if i spelled that write, I always black out after the 'e')
  22. Going to pull this out because its interesting in its own right. Thought Moncada was becoming a much better 3b than 2b.
  23. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:44 PM) Man did that guy on that message board nail the Sale deal or what? LOL just thought about that link that was posted and not too long a deal was struck No kidding, to get the third piece like that was nuts. Never saw him in the discussion before.
  24. The past 3 years were brutal being a sox fan with non-sox fan baseball friends. The only thing I had was Sale. I'd send the gifs of him k'ing people that were getting hit by the pitch. The nasty sliders. The knowing we'd win opening day 1-0 with him. It sucks to see him go, but it sucked to watch him give his all and then watching jeff keppinger try and score runs for him. Content he will get even more press than he deserves in Boston (nobody deserves the amount of press they get as red sox, nobody)
  25. QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 03:29 PM) QUOTE (bmags @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:25 PM) I have no idea what his market is, but considering Encarnacion is about to get signed by the freaking indians for maybe less than 4/80, i'm gonna guess its not good. I would think the opposite. Jose would be less money for three years and then we would see what the FA market bears out. I am only looking at trade value today I don't think you understand why I posted that. Encarnacion is the most consistent and superior slugger on market. It also features Trumbo, Chris Carter Napoli and more. And EE is having trouble finding a deal he was already offered and rejected. They aren't as expensive on the market as teams thought, and so you aren't getting that much value with Abreu, who also isn't as good as EE.
