I think I'm going to stop counting Amos as a Pace success story

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 01:23 PM) You lost me. Abreu will make considerably more ( $6-7 Mil) than Napoli next year. Napoli is a free agent, his next deal will likely earn him more than Abreu. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 07:56 PM) Houston would hate giving up just Bregman alone Read some of the fan posts on their Soxtalk equivalent here. They were actually incredibly reasonable. Lots of good stuff in there. -
That seems like such a bad move for Haley. Admin jobs just aren't much of a way of career booster when already an executive position.

QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 01:49 PM) Exactly. With the assets we'd be able to get in return, plus Anderson, Collins, Rodon, Fulmer, Burdi, ect., we'd be able to field an actual legitimate club within 1-3 years. No more below average players like Leury Garcia, JB Shuck, ect.,coming up when someone gets hurt. Actually talented players who could contribute to a winning team is what we need. We "might've be able to win" the past 7 years. Look how that turned out. I'm a big believer in prospects having relationships with the guys they play alongside playing a big part in winning. Look at how much Rizzo and Bryant love each other. Or Baez and Russell. The only way to gain such a culture and foster those relationships is through time and winning together on squads in the minors. I agree with last paragraph (Cardinals believe in this) but Rizzo and Bryant didn't play together in minors and I don't think Baez and Russell did either. -

QUOTE (hi8is @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 02:07 PM) I just read that the Astros are going to be put up for Sale by their owner. Interesting. One would think that getting Sale would be compelling as a piece to market the franchise. Where'd you read that? Guy only owned it for what 5 years? That's dumb, interested to see what it goes for though. -

QUOTE (Jose Paniagua @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 01:20 PM) Just curious, what is the track record for Carpe Diem calling trades in the past? I don't think there is a track record, OTOH, this is more of a process who is in the race type post and not a "x is about to be dealt" one. All of it can change and any team can jump in or out at any point so wouldn't worry about it either way. But if true, its exciting because it means A+ prospects like Bregman/Urias are still in talks. -
QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:47 PM) I mean, McCown went 4-3 as a bears starter over 3 seasons, he really didnt do better. He just had Alshon completely beasting His statement was it got worse, not that it "didn't get better", but also that win percentage is higher than Cutlers.

Springer is obviously wickedly talented but him being 26 (even though he is a sure-r thing than Bregman) really deflates some air for me. -

QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:34 PM) Why exactly would we care if Sale is traded to an AL team? Because every time he comes by we'll have to rent a dope car and beg a hot friend to stand with us to act like we are fine. We're doing good, totally forgot about you Chris. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 12:43 PM) The thing is that anytime he is out, it gets worse. Except with McCown. Backup QBs do tend to be worse than Cutler, but not claiming he isn't a low, low end starter in league.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:26 PM) Between the two teams, I would much rather see Sale traded to the National League. I like the Astros prospects more, though. Would rather just focus on getting better than whom we'll need to face in 2019/2020. -

I'm not surprised re: DD and BoSox. For all the talk about how aggressive he is, almost all of his blockbusters were with teams where he used his $$ advantage to make the deal. With the white sox and Sale, there is no real money advantage. We aren't moving Sale because we can't re-sign him or is too expensive, we're moving him because we won't be good enough soon enough to build around him without using him as the resource to fill up our system. -

I thought the front page of the Tribune article was total B.S. Not up to the high school teams to enforce the rules and they shouldn't be judged to do so. -
Jason Castro signs with Twins at 3 years 24.5 million
bmags replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
Is it though? He has been healthy 1 WAR with higher ceiling catcher that can catch you 110 games and is fine defensively and an excellent framer. Navarro made 4 million, is a worse hitter than Castro and worse defensively. I mean, when you look around at what utility players sign for, a starting catcher signing for 8 mill is pretty reasonable. -
Sox could try to attach Shields to Sale trade

QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 10:25 AM) Remember...this is a report...could be total BS or could just be a plant. With some writers, you'd assume they are including this because they heard it somewhere. With this, it's written in a way that may be writers hypothesis or industry knowledge. Hard to know without much background on this writer. -

bmags replied to southsider2k5's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I really hope this is just one of those stupid ideas that a writer would throw out because sox are looking to rebuild and would want to shed salary. One - 22 million isn't that much, even if he is terrible. two - If you are trading sale after committing to building around him for 4 years and failing, why would you lessen the return for $11 million a year, which you have shown to not be able to do jackcrap with. But, I'm not familiar with Ortiz, and I think it's 100% likely that this is just a very supid throwaway line from someone not that involved or interested in actually thinking about Sale or the White Sox. "Hey I did a quick google search on white sox and found an expensive player they might not want, I bet they're trying to unload him with sale!" -

Castro signs with Twins at 3years 24.5 million. Chalking this up as a victory for ole bmags. Probably wasted it on misreading the trea turner article yesterday though...crap. http://www.twinkietown.com/2016/11/22/1372...-5-million-deal -
He should play both ways in KBO.

He hadn't had a press conference since July.

Trump met with NYTimes, and had this to say: https://twitter.com/maggieNYT/status/801126093776449537 I'm glad he said that. I wish he would have more press interviews where this can all be discussed instead of Twitter.

QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 22, 2016 -> 01:14 PM) Greinke isn't a good example. He was a free agent at what, 32? Sale is 27. Right, more or less trying to figure out which of the teams in a Sale bidding war actually care about paying him top dollar vs. getting value.
