  1. QUOTE (b-Rye @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:54 PM) A 16th pick from 2012 and a foreign amateur free agent for a 3 years of sale is a massive fail. for the 13th pick of 2010
  2. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:48 PM) I would be pissed if the final piece is a low minor league player We all should be. I have beat the "be reasonable" drum, but no three minor leaguers = Sale. This is a promising framework though. Edit: as we all have been, be skeptical of Bowden.
  3. Must be why it's not that close yet. Would imagine the rounding out is only getting discussed now.
  4. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Mark Zuckerman ‏@MarkZuckerman 8m8 minutes ago Entire #Nats baseball ops department currently at dinner. Certainly looks like any deal for Sale isn't on the verge of completion. Haha I love stuff like this
  5. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:35 PM) Bowden: The White Sox and Nationals are far down the road on a trade that will send Chris Sale to the Nationals in exchange for Lucas Giolito, Victor Robles and a low minor leaguer. Reynaldo Lopez and Koda Glover will not be in the proposed deal. The structure of the deal was first reported by Ken Rosenthal. Oh. Gross. Hope negotiations up that times a lot.
  6. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:31 PM) The Nationals have a lot of those same types of pieces. They don't get as much hype as they aren't in the Boston media market, but as I outlined a few pages ago, they can load up a deal with the best of them. The one spot they don't have as much of is ready made position players, but they are loaded with them at the lower levels of the minors, all of the way through to some big time guys signed out of Latin America. That's good to hear, so hard to get info on those levels.
  7. QUOTE (SouthSideSale @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:24 PM) I'll just go with the notion that there are no sure things in these types of trades. I wanted near ready position players, so the Sox didn't have to develop them. That's totally reasonable, those supplements will bet top 75 and much less sure things
  8. QUOTE (fathom @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:22 PM) Wanted a sure thing offensive player. Package isn't bad though compared to what Braves would give I hear you but Robles would be at that level soon.
  9. Rabbit alluded to this on twitter but what I most regret about it veering away from Red Sox were the devers/kopech/Rodriguez pieces that made it a strong deal up and down. Excited about severino/ etc but much less so.
  10. QUOTE (Chicago White Sox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:10 PM) Hahn should tell the Red Sox & Astros the door closes by midnight. Don't give them or the Nationals time to consider other alternatives. Pressure Boston or Houston to top Washington in the next few hours or I say accept this Giolito/Robles offer. Nah, pressure is on Nats to close not Sox. If turner was available it would be different.
  11. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 07:38 PM) No. Probably can get Conforto + for Jones. Mets have really soured on him. Right. Has any team done more to ruin a players value? I'd love to get Conforto.
  12. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 07:31 PM) Buster Olney said that the Sox asking price in July from Boston was Betts, Benintendi, and prospects lol Exactly. Maybe the reason talks didn't progress is because that isn't serious.
  13. Josh is great and the twitter rant was warranted. Sox front office has not deserved benefit of doubt and the incoherence of a their actions means we put more importance on their words.
  14. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 05:21 PM) That was a foreword by Ken Williams PTATC is going to come out of nowhere to say "UNBELIEVABLE"
  15. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 05:16 PM) Who's tweeted it? Merkin. https://twitter.com/scottmerkin
  16. How good is the James Shields chapter? Pretty good?
  17. I know this tweet means nothing on the otherhand I would prefer TRADE IMMINENT STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING AND ONLY REFRESH TWITTER.

    QUOTE (BigHurt3515 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 12:11 PM) We have officially booked the Ocean Riviera Paradise (opens in 10 days). Now for excursions, what should we do? We already want to visit the ruins but would like to do one or two other things if one is a half day type thing We didn't plan anything for ours and for the most part valued the doing nothing on the beach time to the seeing ruins (tulum ruins excluded, those were great). You'll be exhausted, take time to just be lazy as hell in the beautiful weather.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:20 PM) My guess is that he wasn't told he has to trade specific players. Ha, so we have two interpretrations. I guess that's a classic Hahn quote.
  20. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:03 PM) Rick Hahn said there is no direct order to the teams trading plan. He did confirm that they have been very active in trade talks https://twitter.com/MLBBruceLevine/status/805893590090190848 Confused if order means "which piece goes first" or order as in there was no top-down directive given to rebuild.
  21. QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 04:02 PM) Benintendi was gone when the Sox drafted in 15. Turner would have been a major reach for them in 14 - plus, Rodon looks just fine. He's talking about trading for them.
  22. QUOTE (scs787 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:59 PM) 2017= this off-season?? 2017 offseason, so following next year.
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 03:43 PM) I've got just the relief pitcher the Mets need in mind... I'm gonna guess they save that bullet for Wade Davis, doubt they pull it for Robertson. Maybe Jones.
  24. Sale is incredibly valuable and will be a big addition to any team. But I would like us all to acknowledge that it is a huge risk to trade away 5s and 6s of your top prospect talent even if they don't make an impact like Sale because it: - Means you have to pay top dollar for veteran talent (sox know this fails often) - Means you have very little to supplement in case of injuries on your must-win-now teams If Sox offered sale for same price as Chapman last year they could easily get it. These packages (giolito, robles, and much more) are huge by any standard. There's a reason we thought Sale was too valuable to trade, and that at some point the guaranteed 5 win starting pitcher still is not worth removing all of your cheap talent even if none of them turn out as stars. Doesn't mean we shouldn't hold out for a turner, just saying those teams are not acting irrationally by not offering everything they have. There's also a reason why we are focusing on only a handful of teams that have multiple top 100 talents and multiple top 20 talents.
