  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 10:20 AM) MLB Trade Rumors ‏@mlbtraderumors 39m39 minutes ago Chris Colabello Rejects Outright Assignment, Elects Free Agency http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2016/12/chri...ree-agency.html … If we are entering 2017 with Abreu and Frazier gone I think I'd sign Colabello/carter. May be a good mercenary piece to trade off if they are doing well and a team needs a bat.
  2. Really sucked to lose that game to Portland. Totally winnable. Sort of feel like MCW will be a big help because relying on Canaan for big minutes is brutal. Gibson-Lopez-Wade-Butler is a real dominant force, but we can't use it late in fourth. I say screw that, just play them and force the other team to deal with not being able to rebound and lets roll the dice with Taj on perimeter defense.
  3. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:53 AM) I do care about framework Benintendi/Moncada would be great additions with upside Devers is really a must for me as a second piece I would consider a Benintendi / Devers / Kopech / Basabe package + maybe one more lower level prospect I think we'll need to sweeten our end with a reliever.
  4. I don't consider Moncada that much better than Robles, though it helps his power has developed earlier. Really depends how much you hate Giolito, to me. But Basabe may be better third piece unless we get back Lopez.
  5. QUOTE (steveno89 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:40 AM) Moncada/Kopech/Basabe is way too light of a return for me To even consider the offer I would need Moncada or Benintendi + Devers + Groome + Kopech Anything less than 4 top 100 prospects would be a big failure on the part of the White Sox. Make a team pay dearly Need to start thinking about frameworks instead of deals. Unlikely that is final package. But Top 5 prospect in baseball plus 100 mph arm plus 20 year old center fielder with good hit tool and OBP skills is a framework to pit against Nationals.
  6. Really like Basabe. Tore up Carolina league as a 20 year old.
  7. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:35 AM) Take it with a massive grain of salt but a guy on a football message board that broke the news of the Thornburg trade 18 hours before it happened is saying he has a source that says the Red Sox are making a push for Sale with Moncada/Kopech/Basabe. http://www.footballsfuture.com/phpBB2/view...144406#21144406 Yeah going to be interesting. I like Kopech a lot and his AFL probably vaults him to top 25 soon. Kopech Rodon and Burdi are some big arms to have on a team.
  8. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:32 AM) Completely agree. That's why to me, Trea Turner needs to be in this deal. Guys like Chris Sale are not traded like this, especially at 27 with 4+ years of control left. But with our incompetent organization, we have to. This is a franchise changing/saving/etc. move. They absolutely cannot afford to mess this up. (Similar to the Bears draft this coming offseason) The way I feel is if Sale alone cannot pry Turner I'm willing to sweeten pot of ML talent to help.
  9. The best sign to me would be Astros signing Turner (there are no rumors about this)
  10. QUOTE (Username @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:18 AM) Exactly. I know it's not a position player, but a valuable ML player like Ross would certainly elevate the Sale package well beyond the Miller package. Definitely elevates it. It's impossible to get too upset without knowing rest. It's a package one of two teams could put together so far. We just don't know the rest.
  11. QUOTE (bighurt574 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 09:11 AM) Yeah, it was an overpay for Miller, who never deserved the ace label, but it still seemingly provides a reasonable enough template for dealing a legit ace. The hard part to recreate is inciarte. When deal is done I'm optimistic deal will be hybrid of Miller/Hamels. Robles is about where Swanson was and Giolito better than any Jamel's received.
  12. QUOTE (ChiSoxFanMike @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:51 AM) Anything new on Twitter? It's killing me not having access to it right now. No. BWAA is requiring voters to release their ballots publicly for HOF vote
  13. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 08:36 AM) If people truly believe the things they've said about the White Sox being good at developing pitchers, then a guy who has strong stuff but hasn't yet translated that into results would still be an extraordinary get for the White Sox. The question is, do we have confidence in the org turning stuff into pitching? I will say that scared me. Sox success has been finding different repertoires they can be successful with in the zone, not smoothing out deliveries. Rodon is still our work in progress.
  14. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 07:38 AM) I would love Robles and Giolito back in a package. It depends on what the other 3-4 pieces back are however. With that said, I'm still holding out for a Sale and Robertson for Benintendi, Devers and others package. Yeah. Ugh Benintendi is so awesome. One part to hang our hat on though is apparently Robles wrists are lightning quick like Benintendi. And that Benintendi is a great example of finding your power in your age 20-21 years
  15. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Dec 6, 2016 -> 06:11 AM) One good position prospect for Sale not good. He is described by BP as the “toolsy 19-year-old center fielder But unlike ours of past he has an advanced approach at the plate including good two strike approach and high contact rate. Basically sounds like Byron Buxton.
  16. I'm old enough to remember when Benintendi and Devers were nowhere near enough for this board and the rest of the top ten was rattled off.
  17. Man if I wake up and something is official I'll be pissed.
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:21 PM) Only thing to really handwring over is the actual result of the deal and even then, we won't know the long term impacts for a while. What looks great on paper could be terrible and what looks bad on paper could be great. Nah gotta give constant analysis, Sox rely on my insights
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 08:08 PM) Just in time for the new season on new year's. Lucky you. I think the best part of British television, especially Sherlock, is that the episodes are long and they're done airing in a few weeks. Oh and make sure you watch the Christmas Special The Abominable Bride. I hated the Christmas special but loved the rest, especially the wedding episode.
  20. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 10:12 PM) Confused about the hand-wringing here. Giolito/Robles is a great starting point and matches any other two prospect combination of the other teams. Turner is not necessary and not sure I'd want it anyway because it'd be pretty close to a 1-1 swap, I don't think any additional pieces would be that good if he were to be included (same with Bregman). Giolito/Robles is the best chance to get quality and quantity, we need both. Handwringing mostly came after garbage Bowden report
  21. Would loooove Hoffman.
  22. Just remembered to turn on MLB network. Complete media overload.
  23. He would be so great in Colorado.
  24. QUOTE (ChiSox1917 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:58 PM) I'm thinking long and hard if Boston comes in tomorrow with Moncada/Benintendi/Devers and nothing else. Ha, I can get around that by saying benintendi is a major leaguer now I guess. Feel same though.
  25. QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Dec 5, 2016 -> 09:56 PM) Why are the Nats eating dinner at 11pm eastern time? lol Very Argentine
