  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 03:01 PM) I guess I should add another possible scenario, though an unlikely one: that this was a mole hunt to expose media leaker(s). Which is yet another stupid move, but I suppose it could be reality. That would be an embarrassing strategy for a professional organization, but hey, we saw how the drake laroche fiasco was worked in media. Sounds like the correct answer!
  2. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:53 PM) No, but the outrage is laughable. If you think the Sox don't have the talent to compete, how do you blame the record on the manager? If you think the Sox should be in the playoffs with what they have, then yes, the manager should be fired. I just don't think Shields and Ranaudo and Danks and Albers, and Shuck and Avi not to mention other below average guys, are Robin Ventura's fault. When people are excited about Tyler Saladino, and want him as a regular, it is an indication the talent level is short. I don't think there is a manager managing or a manager in waiting coaching right now that would have had the 2016 White Sox in the playoffs. So, sure. Avi Garcia is bad, but he's not 100% the reason that the sox have had a losing season. We should make sure he's still part of the team next year. Matt Albers was bad, but he wasn't 100% the reason the team was bad this year, he should be in the bullpen forever. James Shields is bad, but, so was everyone, it's ridiculous to think removing him will help. It doesn't matter how you perform, so long as everyone around you is bad too. Then you can't complain!
  3. If this is false, I feel like this is the 3-4 time this season Nightengale has been fed contradictory info. I wonder if he stops using his source.
  4. So, Dick, just to be clear, your main thrust is that there is no way to ever judge whether a manager is good, either by record or by his choices on the field, so we should never fire a manager, correct?
  5. Even though that has rumored to have benefited us, I really find it appalling that we have to risk our scouts lives in order to get a deal on talent.
  6. Even though I said this may be a nice way for robin to go out from sox, they could have easily done it without a press leak. Really dumb.
  7. The sox of the 90s really did well with the idea that liking the sox was a cool alternative thing to do. Now it's just - I feel like we are the Chicago Cardinals. A completely forgettable wasteland. We'd need to hire like Stone Cold Steve Austin to make us interesting.
  8. QUOTE (Rowand44 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 01:37 PM) That's what it's going to be. I f***in hate that these assholes have made me into that guy but they're not going to change who they are. It'll be the same f***in s***. Yeah. I also don't blame manager too much. But it's also because they aren't that big of a deal that I don't care if they are fired. If they provide some spark, great. If not, you probably didn't change anything. But it's a signal to me that they think they should have succeeded this year and are "close". Not that they have major issues and no real strategy to achieve anything.
  9. http://www.baseballamerica.com/internation...MeDAj71QvZMq.97 Requests a rule change that would make it easier to scout venezuelan prospects without risking scouts safety.
  10. My only hope is the Sox actually met, know they are parting ways, but agreed to let Robin be the one to own the terms of departure.
  11. BS that is so out of line.
  12. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 02:00 AM) Put in a claim on Jordan Howard, although taking any Bears offensive player seems kind of silly. Might be better than Crowell though. Howard is likely to be a featured back for 2-3 weeks, always valuable in a pinch.
  13. Excellent frontline piece that I fell asleep halfway through is like, the most frontline review ever
  14. More America in decline: https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/se...ates-fall-again oh wait, that's a good thing here.
  15. Is it really that odd for Colon to groove an 82 mph fastball at this point?
  16. Ivanka is a joke.
  17. Britton or Porcello would truly complete the worst cy young race of all time. What a joke.
  18. I think about this post a lot. Again, I think the prevention of Trump is more important than anything, but I do think a lot will be helped by a Clinton presidency: http://www.cosmopolitan.com/politics/a6209...an-with-cancer/ This post has the Facebook post of a man who had cancer while uninsured. After some heroic effort by physicians to get him treatment on the cheap, the hospital sent him into collections. Hillary Clinton stepped in from there.
  19. QUOTE (Middle Buffalo @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 08:34 AM) I don't really understand all the hand wringing over the Bears. The majority of their fans are either Cubs or Sox fans. The Cubs tanked for several years. There are many Sox fans who want the Sox to do the same. The media seems to be totally on board for that type of tear down. The Bears have dumped most of their high priced talent and older players, yet people can't deal with them losing. That said, it's brutal to watch at this point. Football is very different. Teams this devoid of talent can have trouble building because primes of players are so much shorter than baseball.
  20. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Sep 28, 2016 -> 08:57 AM) Things I don't know about Trump: what's in his tax documents Things I do know about Trump: what his wife's breasts look like and that he thinks he has a big dick Why do you need taxes then?
  21. At what point do Bears question their medical staff and strength trainers? This is embarrassing.
  22. QUOTE (Ezio Auditore @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 03:53 PM) Like... you're facetious here, but this is literally what someone could have tweeted me completely unironically. The stuff people write to you is insane.
  23. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Local politics can be hilarious, one of my relatives holds a full time local office. Communist Party I'm guessing.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Sep 27, 2016 -> 03:28 PM) Walter Burnett is a f***ing crook and I still cant believe he's in office (my west loop alderman). I asked the students what to vote and they somewhat convinced me to vote yes. I appealed my taxes and they went down almost 4k so I consider this an overall win. You liberal hack The process was a s*** show. There have been proposed numerous better options including a tournament sized boys (or girls) pool and a nonstandard girls pool. Cheaper, and does not require tearing down parking garage that town is still paying for. And, I hate parking garages. So it pains me. At one point in a pool meeting, one of the school board members said how much she wished the same amount of people would show up for reducing the achievement gap meetings, and how she was voting yes because students who have never achieved before learned how to swim. How that follows, I don't know.
