2015-2016 NBA Thread
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) This is probably a dead horse to you guys, but I can't think of a single person involved with the Bulls I appreciated this year. Even (or especially) Butler, whose glaring lack of leadership chops was exposed. Felicio

White Sox MVP of April
Not sure this is the phrase.

5/3 Game thread: Boston, 7:10pm, CSN
Here was our lineup for when Wright shut us down and telegraphed the way the rest of the season would go: Eaton Saladino Cabrera Abreu Laroche Ramirez Schuck Flowers Sanchez I don't know what our lineup is tonight, but I'm hoping it's better than that!

That commitment to doing their job on time is my favorite part. I need some lumber, HD, not a safety lesson!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:20 AM) Menards lumber selection is pretty awesome, but the quality of a lot of their other stuff is a step below HD or Lowers. Tools comparable to Harbor Freight etc. I just whispered aloud "that's true"

Early Trade Speculation
pretty sure we've already seen the Rodon Regression.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 3, 2016 -> 11:05 AM) That's my reaction to the Floyd pick. That reminds me of the year the Chiefs drafted Dontari Poe. I remember them being mocked for reaching and he did nothing his rookie year buried on the depth chart. Nooooobody questions that pick now. Poe is a monster. They knew what they saw. I think a lot of fans look at the draft and expect everyone drafted to be instant impact guys, and that's the exception, guys don't come out dominating like Randy Moss and Jevon Kearse, they take time to get coached up and adjust to the game. That said, the Bears have had 2 offseasons under this GM/coach so the standard now should be, at a minimum, relevance in playoff discussions come Thanksgiving or so. Unfortunately we were relevant in playoff discussion on Thanksgiving last year and then promptly lost the rest of our games

Can we talk more about Menards?!?!

QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:54 AM) I can't say I've noticed Menards remodeling? The stores in Bolingbrook, Homer Glen and Crest Hill or Romeoville are all laid out identically and the CH/R store is pretty new. Sports Authorities/Dick's etc could try to mimick something like Bass Pro but on a smaller scale instead of just being a big box. Oh man, we just had a new menards open up on North ave way down in like...melrose park or something. It's a farther drive but has the best lumber yard I've seen. We drive there 15 minutes farther than Lowes/HD.. The one in cicero was updated as well.

I like the Northern Iowa pick most, he may be a complete slow turtle, but Donatell loves that body type. I kind of am a Pace apologist. Emery talked a lot about process but didn't seem to actually reform our processes. Pace seems to be creating organizational unity and buy-in, which even if it swings and misses can pivot easier. I love getting Kwiatkowski because it's so ridiculous now to assume you'll have your starters playing even 16 games. We saw what happened last year "OMG Jeffrey, Royal, White!" The Dline and Linebackers are now full of a bunch of different looks. It is getting closer.

White Sox MVP of April
QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:47 AM) I did see a highlight of him robbing a HR a few days ago but I think it was from last year. Maybe that's right. I thought he robbed one against Tampa.

I feel like sports box stores could be a lot cooler than they are. There's an old dept store prejudice now, you walk in them and are just like "yuck this is dying". Vs. look at Menards remodeling and walking in. You can't just put a bunch of s*** on racks now and call it a day.

But he did rob a home run?

White Sox MVP of April
QUOTE (shysocks @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:23 AM) Eaton has made a lot of difficult plays look easy, and some of his throws have, indeed, been spectacular. I imagine our pitchers' ERA's wouldn't look so shiny if some of the running catches Eaton made went for two bases instead. I agree that WAR isn't the end-all, though, which is why my pick is Quintana. I could pick Sale too, but he's supposed to be this good. Q seems to be ascending to another level right now. He hasn't given up a single homer (!!) and while that is probably gonna change, he's been limiting longballs for long enough now that it seems to be one of his hallmarks. I was actually going to pick Quintana too. He didn't start so fast last year, and him continuing his dominance was huge in our start.

QUOTE (lostfan @ May 3, 2016 -> 09:27 AM) The Browns have to have gotten a few good players, by sheer volume. Every team drafts busts in every draft, but when you have twice as many chances as most other teams, you're gonna get some of them right even by accident. Now do the Browns know what to do with those players? Open question. That said I look at theirs and am kind of meh. They took a lot of players that I see and thought "mehh, they could be good?". I like what they did with the draft in accumulation though. But not surprised they took so many WRs after Hue Jackson basically called his WR group a bunch of dwarfs.

Holy crap, the site works at work today!
Hoping this was ITs version of not going to sox games until they started playing well.

Because this was such a deep draft class, it's hard to find a team getting a bad draft grade. Even a few bad picks are at least offset by a some prospects graders can get behind. That said, for me the vikes/jags/bengals are cream of the crop.

QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 3, 2016 -> 08:44 AM) Eaton is too short to have robbed any HR's. Lets not get crazy here. Yes they have won quite a few close games but we could also make arguments that was all a team effort. Good starting pitching, good defense, good bullpen. But the thread is asking who the MVP is?

Cleveland outdrew us? Attendance down 13% so far
Definitely, please look up land tract value and get back to us. We're intrigued. Everyone's main concern right now is good prices due to our expensive lease.

I'm going to game tonight with four others who texted me to go as walkups. That has never happened to me before.

White Sox MVP of April
QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 2, 2016 -> 11:47 PM) See I can't really go with that kind of argument. Sure the overall defense has been much better and Eaton has been the best part of it but it is just one position on the field. Not everything is hit to him. I'm actually kind of shocked at the answers so far. I mean, yes, lots of names to choose from but I thought Sale would be an easy choice . On a team that has won several one run games, Eaton has saved three runs literally with throwing runners out, and more from a few doubles, home runs and more that he's made plays on.
