  1. Also Adolfo injured. Not good for our big power players.
  2. Specifically something like Lady Brienne or Sansa pleading at Arya to remember and Arya putting a sword through the gut and saying "A girl has no name"
  3. QUOTE (CrimsonWeltall @ May 4, 2016 -> 12:06 PM) Alternatively, she becomes a faceless woman and someone hires her to kill someone Arya wouldn't want to die like Lord Commander Jon or future Lady of Winterfell and Warden of the North Sansa Stark. This seems more game of thrones.
  4. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2016 -> 12:53 PM) That's implicit in "coalition within the Democratic Party," SHillary supporter! That's true. But it's a main issue I've had with his campaign.
  5. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 4, 2016 -> 12:48 PM) +1, it's not nearly enough of a big deal to justify the constant b****ing about it, especially considering it's preaching to the choir here, we all likely go to as many games as we can. Seriously. "Hello sox fans that commit hours a day to talking about the white sox, why do people not care as much as us?" It's not interesting. I'd love to go to a game like last night, filled with dedicated sox fans on the edge of their seats. But I've also had fun at games like July 3rd/4th with lots of kids having fun with their family. Both are great. Baseball is fun again, regardless.
  6. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:08 AM) If he falls short of the nomination (he will) but manages to build a stronger left-liberal coalition within the Democratic Party, it's still a win for his ideology. Only if that group continues to utlize the democratic party to build within, rather than just move on to caring about something else and claim it's "corruption" that was the reason they failed not that it's hard work to change a country of 330 million people
  7. Not sure our bullpen is as good had sale not given us great, LONG outings when he had. That was a crazy stretch with no days off, our starting pitching going deep was crucial.
  8. QUOTE (hi8is @ May 4, 2016 -> 11:18 AM) I know we don't have much sample size to go off but wanted to bring this up... When the 2014 draft was cooking, speculation and insider comments stated the Sox wanted Nola if Rodon went before us. There was even some who thought we would take Nola even with Rodon still available. Who do you think will have the better career? I'm not suggesting we made the wrong choice or the right choice - just bringing up the topic for discussion. I know this isn't your question, but I think this is a nice indication that our scouting has improved, that we honed in on these two players who are both having early success. Sucks that Aiken/Kolek are dealing with arm issues, but that is a factor in a HS pitcher. I wish them well. I think Rodon has a much higher ceiling of dominant stuff, where Nola will have off years where he has more "unlucky" hits due to more contact. That said, the comparisons of Nola to Wacha were spot on.
  9. though light, the crowd was awesome last night. Standing ovations for Eaton/Jackson near dugout, super into Q's performance. Loud and fun.

    Navarro

That sounds like a made up story the media would use as fodder because it's digestible. The world is not a cameron crowe movie.
  11. QUOTE (Tex @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:45 AM) Could you image seven inning games instead? IF we are talking serious ways to speed up game, one thing that drives me nuts is on replays, the teams are allowed to both pause the game for their review before sending it to review. And also, the red sox waiting for the review to finish before switching pitchers, even as they already knew they were switching pitchers.
  12. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:55 AM) It's a catch 22. You want your guys to take a lot of pitches and swing at strikes. Work counts etc. but that also slows the game down. It's not their hitters, it's their unbearable pitchers.
  13. QUOTE (jhonnydanks @ May 3, 2016 -> 04:12 PM) don't stop get it get it This made me tear up.
  14. QUOTE (OmarComing25 @ May 4, 2016 -> 09:26 AM) So Quintana's last three starts he's faced arguably the three most potent offenses in the league and he posts a line of 21 IP, 1 ER, 5 BB, 19 K. What a stud. Over the past calendar year, he now has the lowest ERA (2.75) in the AL (5th lowest overall), and is third in fWAR (5th overall) behind Sale and Price. God damn. "He may be a top 25 pitcher in the AL!"
  15. Thought of this last night as I was watching Red Sox pitchers again spending 30 minutes between pitches and TWO challenges that just made my wife hate baseball after a great game to that point: - Every inning that the Red Sox or yankees slow down to a crawl and ruin young peoples love for the game MLB forces: - Red Sox to pay another $1million to Pablo Sandoval - Yankees to pay another $1million to Alex Rodriguez It both punishes the teams but also should work with the MLBPA as the money is getting funneled to players, one fat and the other a douchebag. Thoughts?
  16. Question - was the announcing teams commenting on the brutal pace of that 8th inning? Two replays + just unbearable pace from their pitchers + 44 pitches total. We thought we'd be out of there at 930, but that was a 40 minute inning. Sucked the life out of the stadium even as it was bases loaded 1 out.
  17. This statement sounds more obvious than I mean, but I don't know that this show would be as popular/successful without the books. And what I mean by that is the interplay of having books that allow watchers to go much deeper in history and read up on so much supplementary material allows the hardcore watchers to be 100% in without even reading it... but they also aren't necessary. The show explains enough so that watchers aren't missing anything, and keeps the mystery levels at an appropriate tone. I think it's incredible the job they've done. Novels are such a different medium than tv shows. It is not possible to cram that information in any digestible way, and they have to choose the scenes that move the plots.
  18. For those at home, hard to describe how incredible the Eaton catch was. Off that bat that ball was smoked and Eaton was fairly shallow. I actually said "He's not gonna catch that" and as I was saying it he made up like 20 yards and threw his arm up and caught it. I couldn't believe it. For out of towners - I definitely recommend trying to get to a game this yera to see Eaton/Jackson in CF. Apparently numbers don't like Jackson now but they are awesome to watch live.
  19. I love the smell of a Chicago white sox game thread in the morning
  20. That was one of my favorite games I've attended in so freaking long. Love this team.
  21. Highly doubt here will be more than 20 k here based off early returns in the park
  22. Shoulder injuries suck. We have had such incredible luck, but this one hurt pretty bad in terms of 2012.
  23. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ May 3, 2016 -> 04:13 PM) I'm predicting 30,000 there tonight. I wouldn't be surprised but I expect at least the lower level to be filled up.
