2015-2016 NFL Thread
QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 06:53 PM) One rumor that he might have showed up on drugs and then was immediately cut and then came back. No idea whether it is valid and it has not been picked up by any major publication, rather pure message board fodder. . That doesn't sound like drugs. That sounds like manic behavior.

2015 Films thread
Well, with all of those you have an entire world being created, from common companies, to geographies, physics and characters. Seems like the star wars world has just really resonated. It is crazy watching the first two how much information they packed into it that was so accessible to digest. It was the opposite of a Chris nolan movie, where he'll just explain a world's rules to you for 4 hours and then finish it with "THERES SO MUCH WE CANT KNOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW"

Samardzija reportedly has no plans to re-sign
Are we sure Cooper is good anymore?

My/Your Off Season Plan
wouldn't mind is not really the emotion I want behind a big $100 mill signing. Justin Upton seems like a nice 3rd or 4th best position player. Not someone I want as my highest paid #2.

My/Your Off Season Plan
This is probably too far but I feel like having Upton would be like the Alex Rios years all over again.

That's awful news. I loved that parking lot. I just moved off armitage, just as bloomingdale trail opens and a CP opens up. Great timing.

Adam Eaton Trade Speculation
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) I see no realistic scenario that has us paying $100 million for an outfielder. That isn't even our greatest need. It is #3, tops. Eh, I'd just rather get a legit star OFer versus some marginal upgrade from below average to average.

Technology catch-all thread
QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Oct 22, 2015 -> 10:35 AM) Anyone use a Nest? I have a cheap, $20 programmable Honeywell, but my wife just found that ComEd/Nicor has a $120 rebate if you buy a Nest. New ones are like $250. My wife likes the appeal (i.e. look and fancy functionality). Anyone with reviews? I'm not sure how much cost savings i'll get since we already have the house scheduled to increase/decrease temperature depending on if we're home and if we're asleep. The Nest seems to be a LITTLE more fluid than a strict schedule, but really other than the ability to change the temp on your phone, what's the appeal? Anything else? I have one. You can certainly get the same functionality for cheaper. But it is very easy to program and control, and I bought it right after moving in when we felt like we had a lot of money for upgrades. The app kind of sucks and I have trouble connecting it to wifi sometimes, but the thermostat before was such garbage we could not turn off hte programmable schedule and turn on the air when we were painting. Overall 5/5 usability, 3/5 on its claims of changing temps when away. I have no idea why it doesn't find my wifi.

Has the country (or the world) really gone this far off the rails?
I have to imagine the world is safer as a whole. There is a very bad, destabilized region, but in the 70s almost all of central and south america was under brutal miltary juntas, khumar rouge was in cambodia, much of asia was dealing with civil wars.

The Democrat Thread
QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 12:57 AM) I think my major gripe with our election process for president is that there are no qualifications necessary. Is it too much to ask that the candidates have some serious experience in leadership, compromise & getting things done on a big stage? Like him or not, Obama won a popularity contest, not a leadership contest. What, was he a senator for a couple years? Quite the leadership resume! Kind of blows your mind when you actually try to think about his resume. Hillary, seriously? First lady definitely puts her close to daily presidenting, but was she at the big table for decisions? Few years as a senator? Maybe one of the worst SoS in recent history? Cmon! McCain, Kerry- Oooooo senators. What have you lead that was great? While Gbush is a whole separate animal...I will give him credit for being a governor. Maybe you should have to be a successful governor to throw your hat in the ring. I get that senators know how Congress works first hand but ultimately they are just 1 vote out of 100. A governor's job is to get things done period, across party lines. I'll stop rambling now. Thanks PFTcommentor.

Yeah what did we ever get from Garcia and Contreras?

Cubs-Mets (Better Team) NLCS
It's funny. When Maddon played KB and Schwarber in the outfield I was like how the hell can they get away from that unscathed? If sox did that there'd be outfield bloopers galore. But baseball always evens out in long run.

Good Place For Dinner in Chicago?
yeah, whatever, I know cemitas puebla is the cool answer but xoco's was better the time I had it. Have not been to the fulton market cemitas puebla, I refuse to entertain when logan square/HP restaurants go to west loop. They stole Urban Belly and Wasabi's one did not look better.

2015-2016 NBA Thread
Eh, can't help it. In preseason the offense looks not very good (i.e. not built for being a heavy 3pt team since we...don't have 3 pt shooters) on offense, and really bad on defense.

Cubs-Mets (Better Team) NLCS
QUOTE (Pants Rowland @ Oct 21, 2015 -> 12:51 PM) I disagree with this proposed trade but do believe the Sox and Cubs could be good trading partners, but no way involving untouchable names like Sale. Abreu, Rizzo, or Bryant (probably add Rodon and Fulmer to that list as well). Aside from a crosstown trade discussion, though, I think the Cubs have a short list of players on this playoff roster that should be on the trading block from now until the next trade deadline. From what I have seen in this postseason, that list would include: -Castro (highest value in some time) -Schwarber (destined to be a DH and this postseason makes him look as valuable as possible) -Soler (just tantalizing enough to get someone to give you their own young question mark for him) -Arrieta (I doubt they trade him, but he screams 2003 Esteban Loaiza to me) -Javier Baez (see comment on Soler, but to a lesser extent) -Jon Lester (Really does not impress me going back to his days in Boston, too. I'd see if someone with $$ that misses out on the top FA pitchers this offseason is willing to trade for him, returning to the Cubs some package of lower level talent maybe including an arm or two) I know not all of these guys will even be discussed as a trade option, let alone traded, but I would bet 2 or more of them are dealt sometime between the end of the World Series and the 2016 trade deadline. I think the only reason for "why not sign david price" is how many cub fans are still excited about Lester? David Price was more risky than that imo.

2015 Films thread
the first movies had a lot of silly dialogue but charismatic actors to pull it off. The 1,2,3 movies brought on awful child actors to spew out worse silly dialogue. It also looked some how worse in special effects than the first, as it hit some sort of uncanny valley where he was so impressed by what computers could do he made something look completely fake. They were the worst movies I've ever seen. You basically only watched to see the plot points you expected from the later movies, and they hit and were completely unsatisfying.
