3 majors, 4 finals appearances, and 1 conversation about how disappointing Novak is. I'm pretty bummed though, Roger looked on fire this tournament. I don't think I'll see another Federer major.

Man Manning is going to get killed this year. I don't know that this won't be his last.
-
Mariota looks good.
-
Jameis first pass was a pick 6
-
Sutton I thought played great.

Watching Chris Carter praise off the field advice Jameis Winston is getting and how mature he is seems really tone deaf in light of the video of Carter that came out

QUOTE (danman31 @ Sep 12, 2015 -> 11:03 PM) It's last year's team with different strengths on defense. I haven't decided if that's good or not yet. Defense still looks great (the early turnovers seemed to mask that), but the offense is still a mess. O-line looks worse and we have no RB depth thanks to injuries. Also, those 2 TD catches by Houston were out of this world. If that's how you have to score a touchdown then the defense did its job. Last years team could run the ball and had dynamic returner.
-
So, Missouri won, but... Pretty sure this offense will be miserable again.
-
Well...I wonder if losing to Arkansas st will feel better or worse than Indiana. I'd guess worse.
-
Arkansas st running the Mauk offense, where you score because Mauk is terrible.

College football is awesome (unless mizzou loses to Arkansas state, who has the look right now)
-
So...Gary Anderson is the worst right?

QUOTE (SCCWS @ Sep 12, 2015 -> 08:09 AM) Jones was outstanding on his return but he has really come back to earth. I think we should be a bit understanding here.

That comment is so absurd and out of bounds no one should have to respond to it.

Atlanta has won a lot.

Yay go micah

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 02:25 PM) At least our black athletes can play without having bananas thrown at them or entire cheering sections chant monkey noises. I've yet to see a college student section unveil a huge banner with Nazi symbolism. I never said America is perfect, but you can't deny it's much better than much of Europe in handling diversity. The main reason is that America has been dealing with it for hundreds of years, so it has improved over time. Most European countries are still very homogeneous, so any change or diversity scares them. I'm not saying Europe is a higher standard than US, but I am saying we shouldn't pat ourselves on the back considering the xenophobic themes in our current election in situations much more favorable than certain euro countries. But yes, I agree with all of the above, Europe has a huge problem right now.
-
QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 02:19 PM) Sure but a lot of Europe is shockingly racist and xenophobic, even more so these days due to the global recession. I mean, you've got openly fascist and racist parties getting seats in government in Greece, controlling the government in Hungary, and getting 18% of the vote for President in France. Yes, but to say we are ahead of those countries is only because our own immigration border issues are so much simpler and smaller in scope. If we truly had same constant issues of African + Middle eastern immigration that germany faces i'm pretty sure it would be just as bad.
-
BTW if we were talking about 1,000,000+ immigrants I do think planning and hesitation is warranted, but we are talkinga bout increasing our input from 10k to 50k.

QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 02:10 PM) Just follow a little bit of European soccer and you can see how big of a problem diversity is in Europe. American is miles ahead many European countries in terms of race relations. Except when you consider the fact that we have an incredibly stable neighbor to the north and we have a presidential candidate proposing creating a wall to prevent them illegally entering country.

QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 01:09 PM) Because people also want to make decisions for next year that put him in a starter's role. Considering the state of the team, I don't see why that is unwise. Worst case scenario he sucks, best case scenario he's good. As opposed to: -Finish outside top ten - Sign expensive Free Agent - Lose first round draft pick - Watch expensive free agent suddenly become worst offensive baseball player in history Seems like the fans clamoring him to smart are a lot more insightful then the nerds going "BUT GUYS BUT GUYS THE NUMBERS SAY"

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Sep 11, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) Though it is the same history repeating itself. 19th century America was frought with all of the same anti-immigration, and anti-specific nationalities during their respective periods of heavy immigration. Two off of the top of my head would be the Chinese and the Irish. Yeah, this is a great point. For what it's worth, the US is taking less refugees than 30 years ago. I don't understand why, when our population growth is slowing, it is believed we cannot accept immigrants.

I can't speak for all of you, but it's hard to look at family history and our stories of "ancestor grabbing last boat out of x-war-torn-country" and then look at these and be like "naw f*** it let it be hungary's problem" It's also funny to me just thinking about how hysteric our country would be if it actually had to deal with all of the human displacement that comes from our foreign policy adventurism.

I was at US open again this year btw. Saw serena v. bettek-sands, fun match. Love the US open in person.

ugh, purple camera, awful mms texting issues, incredible battery drainage (I'm typically at 60% by time I get to office just from using Twitter on train)
