  1. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Sep 18, 2015 -> 07:12 AM) That game made me sick last night. Andy Reid has got to be the most consistently atrocious game caller in the league. Opening drive, moving the ball well, Charles running well, get down to the 2. Let's run three straight passing plays in which none of the primary routes even get into the endzone! Result: Turnover and loss of 3-7 points. End of the half, up 7. Sure, let's call a risky out route instead of just running out the clock. Result: Turnover and 7 points to Denver. Late in the 4th quarter, again moving the ball well, what the hell was that WR reverse option pass play? Seriously? Not the time to get cute. One play later, turnover. I'm not going to fault him for the end of the game thing, you expect your star player to hang on to the ball there, but the odds of an inside draw from your own 20 and 30 seconds left (1 TO) leading to anything promising is very remote. KC had 5 turnovers (2 in Denver red zone, 2 in own red zone), went 0-for on 3rd down, dropped probably 3-4 balls that should have been intercepted and had almost 100 yards in penalties. And still should have won that game. Just a complete f***ing disaster. You can't give away games in the NFL like this. I'd bet a good amount of money that KC misses the playoffs by one game again this year. Just watch. I find this to be a lot of sour grapes hindsight, not that I think Reid is good at clock management.
  2. One of the reasons I fell out of interest with the Daily SHow was after a while you realized that nobody watched cable news, and he kept hitting on the low hanging fruit that frankly didn't matter that much while others were doing much more interesting things. But then, I watched some of the debate last night and was thinking how ridiculous it is that we still allow so much of the presidential campaign narratives to the 24 hour news channels who have the candidates talk about nonsense issues for 3 hrs. Today the Fed decided not to raise rates. It was a decision that probably meant more to the day to day lives of people than any of the crap talked about last night. Not even mentioned. For kicks, could we get a nationally televised debate on youtube or something where real questions could be asked?
  3. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:46 PM) I need to plan a trip to Chicago next September for that long homestand. If we are out of the race, would any Soxtalkers give me freebies? That would be cool. Free tickets; free parking. Sit anywhere you want in empty stadium. Nice. Probably, check out the ticket exchange ahead of time.
  4. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) I don't think the Hawks brass would do that. They are very concerned with their image.
  5. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Sep 17, 2015 -> 03:39 PM) If you already bought season tickets, you can always find people who will take freebies. I had a big ticket package this year...that's not true.
  6. I mean, who can go to these games?
  7. From following on Soxtalk I'm under the impression that Olt misthrew a ball so badly it ended in the concourse somehow. I'm sure that's accurate.
  8. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 04:39 PM) To be fair, if he had been hitting #2 all season, he'd probably still have his .274/10/68. That's not too bad for a #2 hitter. Big improvement from last year, for sure. It's not about Melky, more about how LaRoche/Avi failed.
  9. I remember when this season began and we were all like "And Cabrera FINALLY solves our #2 hole problems!"

I did it because I went to the jiffy lube and there was a 60 minute wait so I went to Autozone and spent all day Not trying to be a penny pincher, but I do like to know how to do things even if I don't end up doing them all the time.
  11. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:51 PM) I don't think the Hawks brass would do that. They are very concerned with their image. I would hope not, but just because they are good at creating a good hockey team and managing the cap doesn't mean they'd be good at dealing with this.
  12. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 10:20 AM) It's official, Blackhawks say Kane is attending training camp. You have to think they know something we don't, maybe a resolution is coming soon. They could also be making a horrible misstep.
  13. Week 1 scores, 2014 http://www.nfl.com/scores/2014/REG1 Man, the Patriots are terrible! Boy, the Cowboys just are never gonna compete!
  14. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 01:48 PM) I don't think a lie is "less bad" just because the effect of the lie wasn't as bad. Getting 30 million more Americans health insurance is a good thing, but if you are competent at your job you find a way to accomplish that without screwing over millions of other Americans, or at the very least be honest with them and tell them that they are going to get screwed over. Being competent at your job has no relation to trying to pass a national health care bill through two chambers of Congress. If it was one person just creating a bill to implement and not trying to satisfy Bill Nelson and Mary Landreiu I'm sure we'd have something quite different.
  15. QUOTE (Soxbadger @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 02:04 PM) The Packers have the luxury of playing in what may be the worst division in football. But they barely beat a Bears team that may only win 4-6 games this year. Its early, but I really expected the Packers to look a lot better last week (even without Nelson). Holy 1 week judgments
  16. QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 01:51 PM) I'm sure the union has something to do with 25 men. I'm not sure that's the case, that would open up opportunities for 30 more members.
  17. I wish baseball would increase to 26 men. Carroll was a great assett to have with this staff (rodon/danks bad games, shark bad everything)
  18. QUOTE (The Gooch @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 01:36 PM) I have a hard time believe you don't know what he is talking about. I have been to Minneapolis 5 or 6 times and see a ton of Somalian people there each time and everyone I know that lives there knows about them. Perhaps it's not that he doesn't know that there are Somalis there, maybe it's that he hasn't realized how the Somali refugees have undermined and overturned the Minneapolis way of life. He doesn't even realize how the town has completely changed and been destroyed... My God
  19. QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Sep 16, 2015 -> 01:17 PM) It doesn't even matter. There doesn't need to be a higher rate of premium increases or plan cancellations post-ACA. If someone's family got a policy cancelled or had huge rate increases due to the ACA, then the ACA, then "if you like our insurance, you keep our insurance" was as much of a lie as being told that there were WMD in Iraq. If any family anywhere had a policy canceled or had a premium increase it is as big of a lie as the justification for a war that cost billions, killed thousands of american soldiers and created regional instability we are grappling with to this day? Out of curiosity, was it as terrible as before when an additional 30 million Americans could not get health insurance? Or was that okay, but this is comparable to starting a war?
  20. Considering the kitchen sink approach to cost control for this, I do think there should be patience as it is still very early on.
  21. It really is remarkable how these acquisitions of stable consistent vets keep becoming the worst players in baseball as white sox. More bad luck I guess. Nothing we can do.
  22. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Sep 15, 2015 -> 08:53 PM) Samardzija has passed Navarro on the dislike list. At least Navarro didnt play ND football. Next up on the list: Nick Swisher Yeah. I'm not sure he deserves it, maybe he just sucks now, but I can't stand him.
  23. I suppose you may all be right, but it seemed starkly different to me.
