  1. Main thing I want to see is shooting. Snell last year was draining everything and looked like best player on court. Looking like best player on court doesn't mean they will be at same level during regular NBA schedule, but looking average on the summer league courts leads me to believe they will be out of league by end of rookie deal. Even Marquis made a decent summer league run. He has to look great in SL for me to think he has a chance.
  2. Is saladino really below average speed? Doesn't seem like that at all. Not sure he has arm for third ( this may be footwork but seems like he needs to wind up quite a bit) but I like him a lot as a bench piece. Just seems like a gamer.
  3. Was able to watch this game yesterday. I'm just so happy enjoyable baseball to watch has returned. Hitting isn't there, but the mistakes have subsided and it feels like you are watching best on the world play. I had a blast watching yesterday. Man, Sale is unbelievable. Cubs game plan was same as Kershaw, but he doesn't change. They will get impatient before him.
  4. So.. Kromer. God I'm glad we have a new coaching staff. What a group of sad men that regime was.
  5. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 12, 2015 -> 08:55 AM) All you have to do is look at Pittsburgh and know that superstars aren't he only recipe to winning. This is how I feel. It doesn't mean criticism for bowmans moves can't exist...but his tenure? Come on.
  6. I know it sucks to see our offense not score, but applaud our strength for being a strength today. Great job by our pitchers to battle against a good offensive club.
  7. QUOTE (BlackSox13 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 04:52 PM) 6IP 6BB 6 K. 6's are wild! Gutsy performance by Rodon considering the blister. That he has performed well this year despite control issues you have to hope bodes well. Otherwise it was just a prelude to disaster. His stuff is so good, can't wait to see it develop. Reminds me of Scherzer a bit.
  8. I'm surprised since sox have scored a lot of runs all year!
  9. QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 09:09 AM) I don't usually care for human interest stories in sports, but for some reason I root for Carroll and always root for him to keep that long reliever spot on the 25-man. I agree.
  10. I was totally in support of bonifacio as well. But he has played like dog crap and him being awful at 2b and SS has not led me to believe that not signing beckham and relying on him for 3b would have been key to anything. The problem with Bonifacio has been bonifacio. He was a great idea that has been outplayed by everyone else in some facet or another. ANd that is SAYING something.
  11. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 01:20 PM) The way I'd have used him, except for when Abreu was hurt, would be to put him in RF on days when there's a left handed starter and move Garcia to the DH spot. Takes LaRoche's bat out of the lineup against LHP, gives Bonifacio more regular PAs, and we might still actually get a defensive upgrade. Then maybe he does find a groove with more regular PAs and we could use him more in the IF. Him being exclusively OF reserve is consistent with him being a waste.
  12. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 01:15 PM) That leads to the conclusion you actually have to play him on a fairly regular basis otherwise he's almost guaranteed to be a complete waste? For him to not be a complete waste, he would need to play better defense when he's not hitting. TO put a likely bad offensive player in 2 games a week in which every 3rd week he'll be offensively successful, you can't have his garbage d for the rest of the time.
  13. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 12:12 PM) Remember too, post-TJ, he missed some time in ST and again early this season and was getting his strength back. He's been hitting lately though. Last month worth of games: .289/.364/.458. Last 10 games: .316/.356/.526. Great, this was what I was wondering. Not about to assume 900 OPS but I'll take .700 at this point.
  14. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 12:20 PM) I don't think Jimmy Butler has the raw ability to be any better then he is now. That isn't a knock against Jimmy, but I don't think he has anywhere near the raw ability of most of the true superstars in the game. There isn't a tool he has that just wow's you, and makes you think he could go to the next level. If he can improve ballhandling that would be something, also if he can continue to improve from 3pt land. Overall, i think keeping units around is underrated. I think continuity is incredibly important in basketball. I also think the Bulls are good not great and will not be great for a while.
  15. QUOTE (IowaSoxFan @ Jul 10, 2015 -> 11:04 AM) There are a lot of Cubans available that would make it worth while to go over this year, all much more advanced than the 16 year olds that are typically signed. Yes, they will all be subject to a draft. I still think they should be punished beyond that (even though I know they won't).
  16. That's awesome.
  17. Jo at point center is terrible because nobody cares that Jo has the ball, they just add a fifth defender elsewhere. Until Jo can shoot the ball or make a layup, nobody is going to guard him.
  18. I would like to see not a lot of movement. Would be happy with conservative play this year. Maybe see Fullmer in Single-A

QUOTE (ChiSox59 @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 02:59 PM) Playing consistently helps with that... He played a good enough amount. He had every opportunity to succeed last year.
  20. QUOTE (fathom @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 05:19 PM) Just don't get swept this weekend. Hopefully last night's Cardinals epic finish slows the Cubs momentum. What happend here?

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 05:15 PM) What does that even mean? They come across as Pitbull fans.

opinion: I hate attending cubs sox games. Just a bunch of drunk meatheads yelling lame insults the whole game. "Hey! Hey You! Sox Suck! Go back to the southside! hahaha yeahhhhhhh PITBULLLLL"
  23. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 04:56 PM) Better this year and much better for the future. Not even close. The one obvious thing is that Donaldson isn't a FA until 2019. That said, Toronto gave up more for Donaldson than we did for Shark. Right, you'd have to assume more minor league pieces missing, but I doubt on major league squad more than Semien would have moved.
