  1. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 11:06 AM) The umpires wouldn't even look at it. Good. He had already challenged the previous inning.
  2. QUOTE (shysocks @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:30 AM) What was most annoying was that he tried to get Robin to come out and challenge it. I want people to remember that the next time they say Robin should have just "trusted his veteran" on that Alexei debacle in Detroit. Players are often wrong. Robin should have challenged that because he should be aware of what is happening in a baseball game. Doesn't mean he should have challenged this one. Surprisingly, two things can be similar (player asks to challenge) but be different (completely different scenarios and plays). On the same token, every day I wake up and go to bed, but much of the time the day is different!
  3. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:25 AM) He was trying to get in scoring position. Not the brightest move, but again, it was wet, it isn't like the Sox were playing for a divison title...if he was safe, just like the time Eaton came home when he should have been out a mile, people would have praised his aggressiveness. And there is always a possibility he learned something. Yes, stupid plays are often less stupid when they work. But this isn't rickey henderson, he keeps failing at this on a team that isn't good offensively. We should stop praising his aggressiveness when he just keeps eliminating himself from the basepaths and creating outs.
  4. QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Jul 9, 2015 -> 10:52 AM) I think if the Bulls offered him the same contract, he still goes to Charlotte. More PT, assuming DRose can stay healthy. I'd be surprised. Bulls backup PG spot has been a prime piece, and Lin would seem to be a big draw in high asian population cities (NY, HOU, LA...charlotte.
  5. Pretty close to safe in baseball means an out. This wasn't running home, the ball wasn't hit that deep, nor too much in the gap. There was no reason to turn and waste an out like that. He has done this continuously...has it ever paid off?
  6. Don't mean to be a downer, last night was fun, but Avi's turn for second was so awful. Everyone in the stadium knew he had no shot. How many hits has he inexplicably run into outs? What stat shows that story?
  7. Very upset seeing Lin sign elsewhere on that contract.
  8. QUOTE (Vance Law @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 05:33 PM) So why can't we just put Coor's at the top and AT&T at the bottom permanently and not change them unless the dimensions of the park are changed? This is what I'm wondering. Wouldn't you then throw this year away from park adjustment factors? I feel like this makes it like a "TOP 30 BEST UNIVERSITIES" when they change every year with no real justification. The dimension sat the cell have not changed...who cares if they are bad this year?
  9. I'm going to tonight's game. Worth pointing out I don't want to go. We can say "oh you can't make weather an excuse", but all of these people not going are real people, and I have gone to 12 games this year, and only 2 have been nice. It really has been awful weather this year, and it's july 7th and I have to worry that I didn't bring a coat.
  10. QUOTE (bmags @ May 23, 2015 -> 08:56 AM) Give him time. I was wrong.
  11. The bulls the last decade have been in the playoffs almost every year. The white sox...have not.
  12. I don't understand this thread. Isn't it bad enough to watch a team whom you have no control over its success or failures? Why add on to that the anxiety about how many people will enjoy that same product? Do I have to feel doubley bad when we lose 2-1 and only 17k show up? Should I pass out flyers? What is the point of this.
  13. Ah, love walking on Lake. Lovely walk.
  14. QUOTE (oneofthemikes @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 02:23 PM) Because they base them on the amount of offense produced in a given park in a given season. It's The Cell dropping is 100% a function of the offense being awful and pitching being pretty good. Right, but isn't this supposed to measure how much the settings of the park affect the hitter/pitcher, not the team within?
  15. Why would these change year to year?
  16. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 8, 2015 -> 12:36 PM) You know what drives attendance more then anything...winning and exciting baseball and the Sox provide none of it. I have a hard time freaking watching the games and I am as diehard as it gets. They are terrible and play terrible baseball. With some of the consistent mental and just poor fundamental mistakes these guys make, it is just hard to watch. I can purely sit and watch Sale and be mesmerized and then the team hits or fields and I just get annoyed and irritated as can be. I've watched a lot of bad Sox teams and been able to enjoy watching the game, I have a hard time enjoying much anything with Sox baseball right now and if that is how I feel, I can't imagine how Joe fan feels and why they would go, other then the, we haven't caught a game this year, lets go. Yes this is true. I bought a large game ticket package and i have hated every game except for last friday. But last Friday was so much fun I thought maybe baseball was enjoyable again. But it is just so effing annoying remembering there is a game, looking up the score and it's once again the 6th inning and it's 1 run scored for white sox. How have they not even had a hot week yet of hitting? It is unreal.
  17. yeah, you know, I frankly feel like pitching matchups are NOT a driver for attendance because they are very hard to plan for. You can plan to see a hitter coming to town, but we knew it was going to be sale v. buerhle when...the monday before?

  19. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jul 7, 2015 -> 01:24 PM) Unrelated sidenote, but for all the b****ing, Bulls could make a few maneuvers and have max money to throw around to the 2016 class (KD). You get their by moving Taj or having Gasol elect his player option and opting out. Could maneuver it many other ways as well. Thought that was interesting as this is a very good team who can contend (didn't say favorites but can absolutely contend) and should still remain attractive to major free agents. I don't know if we will make the moves to do it or if Durant is the right guy to grab but interesting either way. I know the front office has whiffed at the big guys (but so have the Lakers) and in terms of the 3 largest markets we still would be on paper offering by far the best chance to contend and win a title. KD is not coming to Chicago. We have had multiple "bulls clear out cap space to chase the star, this year it will happen!" moments. We all thought Love/Aldridge would be the ones that happened. They didn't. Melo didnt'. Lebron/Wade didn't. Davis won't. We may get a meeting, but he'll be going to Washington, OKC, NYK, Lakers, etc.
  20. Have we had a 3 run + homer since that Detroit game early on with Abreus gramdslam? Seems we can never get those big chunks.
  21. QUOTE (Jose Abreu @ Jul 6, 2015 -> 09:14 PM) Thanks. Seemed like a lot more. it was loud Seemed like a lot more on Friday too. Has seemed like 30k past few games.
  22. MLB Gameday froze, glad to see this thread.
  23. Hahn did well there. I can't argue with anything he said. Judging by his tenure so far that means these comments will perform terribly.
  24. QUOTE (DBAHO @ Jul 5, 2015 -> 11:44 PM) They're trying to trade Swaggy P, he's on $5.2M a season, they just gave Lou Williams 3/21, Brandon Bass just signed there also. I could see Young ending up in Philly potentially, if the Lakers can't find a taker, would probably have to attach a pick of some sort though as well. Yeah. I used to think Nick Young would be the key to the bulls getting past heat. This FA has been crazy. I thought the first 2 days would be the splurge and then the discounts would start happening. The opposite occurred. Could not believe all these players I only kind of knew getting 10/mill.
