  1. In 2010, Chandler was a fairly disappointing, oft injured center who could only do put backs and alley-oops. In the following decade he made $100 million basically by being healthy and the league changing around him.
  2. I mean, not that 6 years 40 mill is chump change. But look at the athletes in other sports. John Danks made more than that on a 4 year deal and has pitched like garbage the whole time. Edit: my point here is I don't blame him.
  3. QUOTE (WilliamTell @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 03:13 PM) Chandler 4 year $52 mil and Knight 5 year $70 mil to Phoenix. Tyson Chandler got $52 million? Damn.
  4. QUOTE (chw42 @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:17 PM) Thompson rumored to be getting a 5 year $80 million deal from the Cavs. Cavs are gonna pay their 2 power forwards nearly $40 million next year. That's almost 2/3 of the cap. Going to guess Thompson is playing a good 30 minutes a game at the 4 or 5 so not sure matters. They are only paying Mozgov less than Dunleavy.
  5. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jul 1, 2015 -> 02:50 PM) Cavs just entered cap hell. But they're gonna be soooo good. Though if Derrick takes well to Hoiberg, minutes are managed better and Niko, Snell and McDermott all improve there's no reason the Bulls can't compete. He made Dellavadova look like a good starting PG, doesn't matter what trash they'll put around those 3. May have trouble finding a good C when Mozgov can't be re-signed thou. I'm sure they'll get some 34 year old Tyson Chandler sign for league min and win championships.
  6. I really don't see how that doesn't end the East for anyone else.
  7. Good for Jimmy. The problem with those shorter deals is you make yourself vulnerable to trades if they don't think they can sign you again. And you can end up in a poor fit.
  8. Actually yes, I thought his comments were very reasonable.
  9. Was with cubs fan friends this weekend. I mentioned Sale rumors on score. They thought Starlin Castro would get it done. Then looking at this, very annoying to see the trash people always want to offer for good players. Probably somehwere in the middle, but starting to feel like the "trash" packages are closer to the truth. Nobody seems to want to give up anything anymore, which makes that Cubs/As smarj trade all the more amazing.
  10. It's almost as if Butler was posturing to make sure he got best deal.
  11. The RFA situation in hockey is so weak. Sour grapes from someone watching best team in the league, but it does suck how much the deck is stacked against teams keeping their home grown talent off of their rookie deals if they worked out.
  12. When you see Saad about to get 6 years at 6.5 per, how can you hold the same thought in your head that Kane and Toews would not get the same deal we are paying them?
  13. This one hurts the most.
  14. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Jun 29, 2015 -> 12:32 PM) Has anyone other than Cowley or Bernstein reported on this mythical beef? No, but KC Johnson had an article addressing it using only Gar Forman as his source denying it. which leads me to believe it is true and there is a huge beef. I thi k KC Johnson seems like a good writer but he has proven to be incredibly out of touch with the real rumblings of the team.
  15. You are saying it's not on congress to fix the language but you are requesting the court to fix the language.
  16. Scalia wrote that before that argument ever even made it to the courts, He's a cartoon judge hack, the most activist of them all stuck in a smarm cloak of "reasonableness". This was such a b.s. case for the beginning, any votes against show what a group of hacks the conservative wing has become.
  17. I'm not sure I recall in the last 15 years a Twins player making a defensive miscue like we saw from Torii.
  18. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 10:10 PM) I don't agree with him forcing the triangle, but he has shed a lot of s***ty money. To this date, he also has been the first knicks president in a while to add draft picks rather than send them away for nothing. Granted, these are all things most people would do in that position, which goes to show you what a dumpster fire that franchise has been for 15 years. They were pretty close to doing it right for the Melo trade. They drafted and signed a bunch of movable assets, but ultimately gave up too much of them for the wrong guy. I do think that was bad luck, as those are the risks a franchise should take.
  19. My sister's HS graduation shockingly had ESPNs lester holt who promptly read a exhaustive list of everything wrong with the world today as if it was so much worse than when tuburculosis was rampant (among the awfuls: Deflategate). As an exercise, make a list of all the things you think would be bad to be prevalent activity in the youth generation. It would probably be violence, sex, drug use, teen pregnancy, low graduation rates, etc. But across the board this is the smartest and most responsible generation this country has ever seen. On the other hand, they may be too coddled and lack hubris. I think most would take that tradeoff?
  20. I am not sure I understand even after replay what Torii was trying to do. Such a bizarre play from such a smart player.
  21. Phil has said a lot of dumb things since being President (frankly things that a FO should not say about other players), but on the other hand he's made the correct tough decisions to shed a bunch of salary and perform a proper rebuild. I'm not so sure he won't succeed in building a playoff team. We'll see how he drafts. Obviously his coaching choice as an abject failure but I'm not sure that was an easy job to fill.
  22. Yay another Abreu single with 2 out no one on base.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 02:16 PM) Unless you are trying to tell me that the confederate flag motivated him to kill, over everything else, then yes, this is not the thing we should be talking about. Gun Control at least makes sense to discuss, because that at least had the potential to stop this. The rebel flag? Not so much. Think about it, with police brutality, we actually talked about police tactics. Man goes and kills a bunch of black people, shouldn't we be talking about race relation, instead of symbology? Nah, this will distract people from the real issues because no one is comfortable with actually talking about race relations in this country because some one will get offended. That you don't think a state government flying a flag that represents white supremacy is dealing with race relations I'm not sure what to tell you.
  24. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 23, 2015 -> 01:58 PM) I am more surprised people want to waste time on this versus what actually happened in SC. White supremacist kills black people for upteenth time in southern history, people ask to remove symbols promoting white supremacy. Seems pretty relevant. It's only irrelevant to those who seem to not believe that this man was not motivated by what he explicitly said he was motivated by.
