Because of Shaun hill?

Man people are really aggressive about a pretty innocuous comment.

I have no hate for conte. For his sake I wish he'd retire.

Any viewing options for this one?

FWIW, VDN was a horrid in game coach, but looking back, he does pretty well developing players, especially young teams. I think there are worse coaches. It's not like Doc Rivers took over the clippers and they became much different.

Hinrich is the only guard the bulls still have who can fight through screens. But he sucks, but I just wanted to mention that.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 12:48 PM) Yep, like Cobb, Maclin or Cooper in the draft. All of these guys I would rather have than Marshall. Its not even about Marshall and his antics, like many have said already its about his production and his age that makes this a good move. Cooper is certainly great, I would question the use of #7 to acquire him thou.

I'm actually kind of surprised by this after the projections for the central were so weak.

Then there's only one thing left to do

QUOTE (daa84 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 12:04 PM) remind me again why this is such a great move? The Bears are CLEARLY worse without Marshall than with him. And for what? 3.9 million in extra cap space (when cap space is a non issue and we have a paucity of internally drafted players that will be due bigger payouts in the near future ) and a 5th round pick? I realize they got something for him instead of nothing, but why did they have to cut him in the first place? Because they will be paying him $10 million a year to decline on a rebuilding team. Why is that a strategy?

I think you are assuming that people aren't asking, which is incorrect, they ask in every interview with him. He just says he's evaluating.

Booker/Clinton are redundant. Need a non-hawk.

QUOTE (shipps @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:59 AM) I personally don't believe Mariota is an NFL starting QB but a part of me wants to think that Pace and Fox see something in him and think that he is going to be great. And that it winds up working out because they are waaaay smarter than me and thats why they do what they do and I am just a fan. Thats what I would like to happen. I would like the rams to trade up to 7 for a 3rd.

QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 11:23 AM) As I said earlier, replacement players often outperform expectations when starters are out, so it gives the perception that we can win without our best players. I think Thib's teams win with effort as much as talent, especially on defense and rebounding. When we are the favorites or when we're playing ahead, guys get complacent and start coasting. We lose the advantage in the effort department. It's a bit frustrating at times, but I think it's true. I also think this was a "this year" thing re: coasting. Also - team started looking good on defense when Noah turned a corner in february, and MDJ came back. Noah is a force right now, he was not good in nov-jan (shocking).

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:45 AM) If Marcus Mariota fell to the Bears would you want them to take him? I'm starting to think that might happen. That would be a tough call. No. I do want people to think the Bears could take him thou.

Has Kottaras started yet?

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:44 AM) Never underestimate free agency. Watch the deal a guy like Torrey Smith gets. $$$$$$. Well if that's the case stay out of it. But this is a year where Marshall is especially expendable.
-
QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:28 AM) It would probably be best to avoid spending any huge money on a WR in free agency. They probably aren't going to be good for a year or two. Why sign a 28 year old WR for big money. They also have Jeffery who will be a free agent after next year. He will probably want 9-10 per year. I wouldn't be surprised if they took one early this draft and one late. I don't think you'll need big money to sign a decent #2 this year.

Look at the jump in food services. Especially after the data that americans spent more at restaurants last month than grocery stores (I think that was the data point).

QUOTE (Cknolls @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 09:50 AM) What i find strange is no mention of job losses in the energy sector....Those jobs have been getting hammered the last two months and that is not represented in the data.. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/empsit.t17.htm

QUOTE (GoSox05 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:18 AM) The Jets. Lol. Teams wonder why they are bad every year. They should keep Harvin and Marshall just for entertainment. Bears will probably have to draft a WR somewhat early in the draft now. Yes, also a deep WR crop in FA. Bears just need to stop paying so much for declining production. I believe in Paces plan. It's realistic. We need to hoard picks though, unfortunately, hard to get picks for aging vets when they are getting paid above market value.
-
QUOTE (SoxPride18 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 10:11 AM) Has to. different market, I still doubt that can get done.
-
I don't have any ill will toward brandon> I appreciate him going balls out in 12/13. But, Emery's key failing was trying to plug the gaps with past their peak vets. Bears are old. They need to stop paying for declining production, this is the right thing to do. OTOH it proves Bernstein right andd that sucks.

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 6, 2015 -> 09:26 AM) I watched him tear up NWI while he was at East Chicago. He is a solid back up PG in the NBA. I am on team moore. I think with extended minutes we'll see his limitations, but our guards are so turnover prone and moore is not. He has also been a pretty great 1-on-1 defender, also 4 inches taller than Brooks. All that seems to indicate we can replace more hinrich, but he has been even better at saving Brooks when he gets too erratic.

Kind of an odd jobs report, the low wages uptick/high jobs report seems good to remove some of the slack...but participation went down. I'm going to say wait for the revisions.
