  1. Good point on bike tires, I'm just wondering what this actually felt like. I think some people think it would have felt 2lbs lighter.
  2. Doesn't Boehner already participate in that?
  3. Is "2 pounds of air" that noticeable? If I'm looking at a tire gauge, is this like seeing 38 register rather than 40?
  4. Sorry guys, that was a bit tongue in cheek. But at his age and how hot of a candidate he was, I think we are more likely to see Fangio gone next year than Gase. Unless of course the bears are a dumpster fire.
  5. I think the disappointment you are really feeling was that all of these moves happened by the first week in December and left us with too long of a void.
  6. He also bombed his HC interviews so he may be a few years away. I think Mangini/McDaniels ruined any chances for 36 year old coaches from hereon out.
  7. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 12:00 PM) I watch every year, regardless of who is in the office. I feel like it is some sort of obligation, which is probably silly. It's the same every year pretty much, though this year did have a little looser feel than others. A little more hooting and hollering, a little more humor. I liked that aspect. But damn, the game of sit/stand/applaud left/right/both is just plain irritating. Stop it, we don't need to do that with every point the President makes. It's pomp and circumstance, and it's usually a series of goals most of which won't be met. But it does illustrate the priorities of the administration, which I think is worth watching. Obama struck, I thought, the right tone... but he's also a guy who has consistently talked a big compromise game without ever working to do that. Not that the GOP Congress has been any better of course, they just blockade everything he does because he's the one doing it. But, hard as this is to admit, I kind of miss the days of Clinton and Gingrich actually working together to do a few things. We haven't seen much of that lately. One other note - I hope the GOP is smart enough to see that they cannot continue to revolve their entire strategy around stopping Obama and the Dems when the economy has gotten so much stronger. It worked in November, but I'll be the farm it won't work in 2016 unless we dive into another recession by then. They need to have an affirmative theme at some point. Tradition is nice and stuff, but clearly with communication advances this is not in fact for Congress, and instead for ...citizenry/democratic tradition, whatever. If that's the case, I don't understand why they haven't tried to integrate some more media beside just a speech. I don't want a powerpoint with clipart, but why can't some context with infographics be added? Honestly a split screen with some quick facts while he/she's talking would be helpful. But alas, I would settle for "no applause til the end please", with some weird 15-second NPR jazz samples to break up the sections.
  8. A big part of why I was excited for Fox is he has really put together great staffs recently, as seen by the amount of head coach candidates that came from Denver. But if you would have told me Fox would come with Vic Fangio/Ed donatell(hopefully that will be official) and Adam Gase, I would be in disbelief. I'd also laugh ecstatically at all of the "He only had manning!" I recognize the starry view of Gase has taken a hit after numerous rejections, but at 36 he clearly was not HC material yet. Tutoring under Manning and Martz is a hell of a background, and he has great support. What a job by fox so far. The best part is these are experienced coaches that should be able to verbalize the types of players Pace needs to find for them.
  9. QUOTE (StrangeSox @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 10:49 AM) More importantly, why doesn't the league just control this equipment so this sort of tampering can't happen? Seriously, why go through the hoops for K-balls, but not for the regular ones? It almost seems to be defacto acceptance.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 10:21 AM) Their have been mixed reports as to whether Bears received permission or not. Nothing has been widely reported. The entire media reporting around Halas Hall has been pretty much pure trash. With the new guy in charge, no one has the same ties or I presume that is what is leading to this lack of quality reporting. Right, basically everyone just focusing on Aaron Leming who is basically just throwing out everything he's hearing in the echo chamber. Apparently George did not get close with any media, so that whole group is starting from scratch. Not as much fun, that's for sure. Yuck to CLE's new OC.
  11. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 09:59 AM) I agree but I don't think it's really about the affect of the action at this point. This is an organization that now has an established history of cheating. More than anything, it's embarrassing for the NFL and the brand. Whether it's organizational or truly just Belichick focused, the NFL needs to put their foot down here to establish that these types of things are not allowed. If this was the first time, it wouldn't be as big of a deal, but there is now an established pattern from this organization. Yeah, I agree some punishment is in order. But I consider this fun cheating vs. something that would be truly devastating like point-shaving. Hell, I think the Dez Bryant non-catch and uproar does more to spoil the brand. Even though that was the right call and we all just love making fun of the cowboys on this board.
  12. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 09:56 AM) Not true, Detroit denied the interview request a day ago I thought the Schefter tweet yesterday reopened the issue
  13. Maybe I'm crazy, but in a head to head matchup of videotaping practices vs deflating balls, I don't really care about the deflated tactics. Take away some picks, sure. But I just don't think playing with a very slightly modified ball changes the game that much to matter.
  14. QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 07:52 AM) Seems to me like Chudzinski is Bears first choice for OC. For some reason, he isn't interviewing with Rams. He was either blocked from interviewing or staying with the Colts. Charlie Weis interviewed yesterday. My guess is that Chud can't be had, Weis isn't the right fit, and now they will lock up Adam Gase today. I don't know if this is possible, there has been zero word whether Jim bobby cooter or Chudz were ever allowed to interview anywhere yet. I would love Chudz, I think he got totally screwed in Cleveland.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jan 21, 2015 -> 08:32 AM) Lol, Yes. Ever had your mind say something but you type another thing? Eggcorn
  17. What a day. Was in a meeting for 8 hours, just catching up now. This staff should have no problem getting these players attention.
  18. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 08:47 PM) 0 points and 0 assists in 27 minutes for Hinrich. Just an unbelievably awful player on the offensive end. And it isn't like he is great defensively anymore. This team does not have a single guard who defends well when we cannot use dunleavy at 3 to push jimmy to the 2. Our guard defense is so sloppy the pick and rolls create 3 easy shot options for teams.
  19. QUOTE (thxfrthmmrs @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 08:24 PM) This was supposed to be the best Bulls team yet, and it's looking like the same s*** all over again. It gets at you. I never thought the Bulls could beat this Cavs team from the get go and I will stick by it, and until I see it happen, I will say Bulls will not beat Lebron in the playoffs. This is not "same s*** all over again". This is a Thibs team that can inexplicably not play defense and is getting outworked every game. I've never seen such a lethargic product from his leadership.
  20. Still upsetting. Mt motto was wait until January. This team is in a tailspin. And its leadership just seems to be looking around.
  21. I kinda liked that conference. Not as fun as the super technical Emery and initial Trestman conferences, but sounded more like a real football coach.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 10:34 AM) well, borderline top ten, but not sure if denver air helps punting averages. Yuck, actually seeing some pretty terrible rankings on some metrics. Not thrilled.
  23. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 09:54 AM) Welp, it appears that is the bar thats been set for next year. Just be competent across the board. LOL I guess I am fine with that after last years absolute mess. well, borderline top ten, but not sure if denver air helps punting averages.
  24. QUOTE (shipps @ Jan 19, 2015 -> 09:21 AM) How was the Denver Special Teams the past few years? Bears hire Rodgers as their ST coach. http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2015/01/19/bea...ms-coordinator/ Competent, not amazing.

QUOTE (Y2JImmy0 @ Jan 18, 2015 -> 09:05 AM) Did anyone see Birdman? I saw it last night. Thoughts? I liked it a lot. Loved the energy the drumming gave it. Loved Ed Norton's scenes, almost every one of them.
