  1. Of surprise signings I’d be stoked about, I really like Brandon drury. Surprisingly competent at 2B, had 28 homers last year. You are buying it for real but…cheaper than if it was for real. He can also play RF until colas, and let us see if any of romy/Sosa are ready. Likelihood of pumpkin status looks large, but he has highest ceiling imo of inf left at potentially realistic prices.
  2. He was basically a DH when he returned so can’t be a shock to him. And he raked. 54 out of 84 games at DH.
  3. I also extremely want to sign Tyler danish back. If we can’t have Rodon we need danish back.
  4. I’ll never stop believing that Aaron Sanchez will be good. He’ll be like 50 and I’ll want to sign him. He’s my new folty, who was my new Danny Salazar, who was my new Henderson Alvarez
  5. I’m extreeeemely team see what you have. Zavala was much better than I expected, Perez can hit the upside too. Barnhart had a 64 wRC+ v lefties and 62 vs righties. My mans, Carlos Perez can match that.
  6. It’s true this is the best of the situation, just obnoxious the solution is always “well sort the free agent list by left field and see who we can sign”
  7. Listen: - I’m happy that the Sox aren’t just going to pocket $30 million to pay back shareholders for 2020. - I’m happy that outfield defense is not compromised and Eloy is not going back. - I think his defense is being underrated and overrated. I think there are some extremely weird effects of measuring green monster stuff in Boston. In two years since, seems like he’s neutral. Totally fine. Upgrade for Sox from deep underwater to sea level, but our outfield defense hasn’t moved to a strength yet. The lack of power is a huge issue for me. We left the Astros series seeing us fail offensively in two games where we had tons of hits. The only game we scored enough was led by power. They signed Josh Harrison. Last year we routinely strung games with LOTS of hits, all singles, and a terrible offense. Add Benintendi. This org is power starved. It is priced out of power in all positions except 1B/DH, and it can’t add there because it has a bunch of 15 home run hitting 1B/DH. This is where you all see me saying weird things like I was pro going after Sean murphy and not liking benintendi. He flips catcher to being top 5 offensively and defensively. But Benintendi was to 5 in LF wRC+ last year. It’s a real upgrade. It cost just money. All that is good. I just can’t stand outfielders that can’t send it to the seats unless they are elite defensively.
  8. Yeah people don’t need to be educated that the Sox strategy is “maybe we’ll be that random lucky team” and not one that makes sure they aren’t the bad side of it.
  9. Do you remember Dallas Keuchel?
  10. Naw Jerry is fine for eating it for one year. It’s if it theoretically could happen in 10 years that he has to destroy the franchise over.
  11. Exactly. Any power at all would be a blessing. Don’t give a s%*# about making things less deficient, at some point real gains need to be made. Luckily Carlos Perez will show up in April and have a legit shot at 25 HRs
  12. He’s be a great 20th best player on the team
  13. Spend all money on depth. Draft for depth. Develop for depth. Never have depth.
  14. Woof. Super happy for Carlos though. I hated him after 2020. Man did he redeem himself.
  15. So what are the odds we are giving that whomever we sign the white sox will be their last team before retirement?
  16. Funniest signing would be kole Calhoun
  17. This benintendi s%*# is just killing me
  18. Everyone is going to pay him. He could go to actual LA and make $500 mill as well
  19. Does Ohtani want to stay?
  20. 21 playoff bids for cubs is that right? Is bid each playoff series?
  21. I mean they really shouldn't have implied they'd spend, but there really may be a benefit to waiting. There will be a point where the lux tax penalties kick in that make the teams spending hold back for a year or so. Next year, they could go hard after Devers/Ohtani. But the problem is after that it's not amazing, and Devers could easily be re-signed. So you leave yourselves vulnerable.
