  1. I'm with he gone but also this org will be bad at it. Get his arm good, then don't worry as much about "starter" or "reliever" or whatever, but figure out how to get more innings out of his beautiful gift.
  2. sox have a lot more information so it's a hellish thing to waste a 4th overall pick on a guy like this. But I could write a book on that lead up to his draft. I was happy sox selected madrigal, you read the write-ups, and a whole bunch of things that to me were not projection were written about him. You were getting a guy who was a defensive whiz. Amazing base runner and instincts. Prodigious hit tool. Sure, lacks power but what he does have, he gets all of it. Insane makeup. (that last one is unforgiveable from Hostetlers team) And what makes me most annoyed is these same writers started to walk back this stuff about madrigal by August (so 2 months post draft). And by time he was in charlotte, man it was clear a bunch was bullshit. So, basically as much as he is an annoying person to read, you have to take keith law seriously. His sourced scouts are very good and critical especially against romantic stuff like madrigals grindiness. Now, the other thing unfortunately is the 2018 draft was garbage. Some post in 5 years is gonna be like "actually Nick Madrigal had like 6th most WAR in the first round" blah blah.
  3. Wow I completely forgot about the Parcells era. I do think that it's not that far off from how Pitt is handled, where he at least buoys his HCs with big budgets to build excellent staffs. But clearly Tomlin >>> Garrett, McCarthy as he seems to get more out of less.
  4. relevant to the madrigal stuff, a BA article just came out on whether certain struggling former top prospects could make it. Scout’s Take: “To me, there is no MLB carrying tool because his ability to make contact is not impactful. He’s not a plus runner, he’s not a plus defender, he doesn’t have a plus arm and he doesn’t have power. “It’s a hard profile. He’s a contact bat that doesn’t strike out but doesn’t walk. He’s not a feared hitter in a lineup. I just don’t see him as a guy who can impact the game in any way, and it’s hard for him to be a utility guy because he can’t play the left side of the infield. He can’t hit leadoff because he doesn’t get on base enough and he can’t hit second because he doesn’t run and he can’t drive a ball out of the park. So where do you put him? I just don’t see a major league role for him.” Basically nellie fox. https://www.baseballamerica.com/stories/scouts-on-jo-adell-jarred-kelenic-and-other-graduated-prospects-yet-to-establish-themselves/
  5. It’s so weird how Jerry Jones is so conservative with coaches now. That Dallas team is so talented, just silly how they can’t make that leap. And on the other side, I feel like I don’t appreciate enough how dominant 49ers have been. Lynch and Shanahan are a hell of a duo.
  6. We are definitely getting 30 games of Eloy LF Leury CF Sheets RF
  7. it doesn't show up in embeds but that's Colt Emerson for those wondering.
  8. So this winning streak…bad news or with the draft lottery not much difference anyway?
  9. I uh, think their pitching development is solid
  10. It’s insane how good howie roseman is. I had no idea how many sacks Hassan reddick had this season. Crazy how bad Arizona is too.
  11. Weird, I wish they tried to control their managers more.
  12. RIP Danny Dimes narratives/Kafka greatest offense in history Age: 1 week Mother: Vikings defense
  13. At least if they missed it wouldn’t have meant punting on picks 5-10, which is what hurts so much more if Kelly, kath, dalquist are duds. And honestly it was less kath as Macdougal that stressed that 2021 budget so hopefully he comes back as a dude.
  14. I just don’t know if it’s possible for this front office to get our farm consistently in top 15 given their market size restrictions and just lack of effort to maximize those limited resources. Only sell offs will get them on top ten. But luckily we have a larger market size which will allow us to spend on big payrolls!
  15. I’m gonna guess twins correctly saw an option to sell high on a singles hitting first baseman
  16. wait wait wait the marlins traded Pablo Lopez, their 5th overall prospect, and another prospect for Luis Arraez who may not even be able to handle an infield position? Amazing trade marlins.
  17. and if they trade our boy Chaz, all indications would be they want current major leaguers that don't need to develop... who is that on our team going out?
  18. I disagree he was solid, he was solid his first four games, and was awful after that. Ben Powers is also an improvement in Pass Pro, and too many of our guys are maulers but got destroyed when asked to pass block. There really shouldn't be any spots we don't critically try to upgrade on that line, but Jenkins/Jones are on rookie deals. Guard/Center/Tackle upgrades is completely fair to shoot for. "Powers is also currently the highest-graded guard in the league in pass blocking, per Pro Football Focus, having allowed just one hit and no sacks in 440 pass blocking reps."
  19. I can't find the tweet now but Eric DeCosta pointed to Ben Powers (guard) as someone unlikely for baltimore to keep. That is a guy I had circled, with Phillys Seumalo second. Would love for bears to get him.
  20. I'm still bummed we lost mark payton.
  21. I think he’s gonna be that rare short armed tackle and if not an all pro guard but I am probably gonna end up wrong. He just was so good against top competition, so sound.
  22. I’d kinda rather they not. It really does seem to always be a kiss of death
