  1. I mean, you could just as easily trade down once, then trade up into the late first. Baltimore/pats always willing (rams may be willing to accrue picks too if you want two hops).
  2. Baty may not be a plug in play guy in 2022. But at that point you have a top 25 prospect to do what you will. Either you suddenly have a pair of "left handed savages" to fit @SoCalChiSox's dreams in Colson and Baty, or a headliner to go after a Marte/Chisholm with a more appropriate swap...or even a Bryan Reynolds. escobar is in fact your insurance. but Baty is pretty damn athletic, and he also hit 21 homers in 106 games last year. He may even be your RFer of the future. Point is, he's good, he's got power, he's got a dominant left hand. I also don't think we get him. But fun trade idea. You legit would have a future of potentially Baty at 3rd, Colson at SS and Kath finding is way. 3 left handed prospects...be still my heart.
  3. he's also doing this in a year he's probably lost a pretty big chunk of his worth. There is probably no more fun way to spend money. He figured that out.
  4. exactly. Thats why I don't think they'd throw away projects for savings, they may very well need them in season to acquire.
  5. the good news for the mets and spending is they have also paired it with building a really good farm since cohen took over. Remember, they've also taken pretty big swings getting some unsignable guys to sign.
  6. Hard to see it as a guarantee, braves rotation can still eat anyone up when they are right.
  7. As I said, they pull that deal off I’d be extremely happy and eat clothing
  8. He’s doing it because he wants to win. He could use baty to get a way better player.
  9. Y’all listen to yourselves! Cohen is gonna make a stupid deal because he doesn’t want to pay money? No!
  10. Like no one here would seriously say “we should trade Colson Montgomery to get rid of Grandals contract” we’d say like maybe Jose Rodriguez
  11. Baty is very good. You don’t get a player like that just taking on $10 mil
  12. I’ll say this, if Sox trade Hendriks for baty+McCann+Escobar I will eat a hat. And I’ll be happy about it
  13. Fairly certain the Mets don’t view excess as a problem.
  14. Yeah definitely seems like the Mets care about McNeils $6 mill gtfo
  15. I gotta say the fact that angels signed him makes me think he’ll be bad.
  16. We are paying Leury just $3M a year less for -150000 year he production
  17. yeah this was unfair to do, I think both him and perez look much better with some more time.
  18. Great article: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/steven-kwan-geraldo-perdomo-and-the-victor-robles-problem/ Money line: So I put together some notable sox young players, added Nick madrigal as a low bench mark for reference. That last column is coming from here, but keep in mind for both Carlos Perez and Lenyn they had so few balls in play they were below any threshold set in this article. But I included them because I was already on the page. Sox young'ns old'ns Some things that are interesting. Danny Mendick was great last year, but it's unlikely he repeats his very nice .350 babip with how weakly he hits again. He's a nice guy though and i'm fine taking his rehab case on Jake Burger hits the ball really, really hard. I kinda wish we'd just let him go to the pirates. I really think he can hit. Seby being in that 97-104 range is kinda nice. Exactly what he kinda looked like. Obviously takeaway here is Romy hits the ball hard and gets above that 40 BIP threshold. With time, ideally it gets him to nicer production. Fun thing here is this is what the chart looks like if I include James Outman's 6 Balls in Play LOL.
  19. Yeah and the stuff I mentioned isn't even stuff that really talks about "receiving". I just think it has been noticeable how much other catchers get praise from the pitchers for game calling, and how rarely any pitcher has said they want grandal as their personal catcher. McCann sucks but man, it was noticeable his sequencing. He did some beautiful stuff especially early with Giolito in helping him believe in that weird high change.
  20. he had a 105 wRC+ the year prior with 11 home runs in 70 games and a .250 iso. He hits the ball hard, would be second in catchers in Barrels per PA and 6th in hard hit %. And man, he does NOT hit the ball on the ground. Would be super welcome here. only 33.5% grounders.
  21. I don't really know what's happening and can't imagine hahn having the work ethic to resolve both having grandal and getting a catcher, but, in isolation, I DO see why sox are still fixated on catcher.
  22. I'm just saying if you try to dump salary you typically start on the higher salary players not the lower, affordable players. Mcneil would be pretty far down the list for them unless we consume mccann for the pleasure.
