  1. I could have swore I saw something yesterday but I’ve searched everywhere and guessing it was just a rehash of Reyes news.
  2. I loved La Stella a few years ago but that back injury has ruined him and he was already terrible defensively.
  3. Yeah I mean if he drops back to his 90 wRC+ seasons are they still hyping his d or deploring another heyward?
  4. They have a tie so even at 4 wins they’d be behind us. I see them as a team that may try to trade up.
  5. We definitely need more all stars. We don’t need to pay for a .700 ops 2nd baseman with average d.
  6. So romy looked more like a big leaguer after having been in mlb before and repeating AAA than the guy who jumped from AA and was 4 years younger? Color me shocked.
  7. I feel like colts loss was good for us so I was happy.
  8. Good for cubs but that sure looks silly after being in on the others. Always a bad idea to pass on a deal for top stars and still commit to bringing in anyone. Is the $5 mill a year saved going to be worth it?
  9. Not sure what they use but I’ve always enjoyed this article. Has led me to focus on bp for infield, baseball savant for OF. https://www.draysbay.com/platform/amp/2020/4/15/21219514/mlb-defense-best-statistic-baseball-prospectus
  10. So basically it’s small samples. So he probably isn’t good. But baseball savant has him at just not negative at 2B, and DRAA (bp) has him bad at 3B but positive at 2B. So yes I wouldn’t place bets on him being good but I do hope he could be avg. Say a split of 30% he’s bad, 50% avg, 20% good at 2B. He does look s%*# in OF though
  11. Why do you say that? His defense on baseball savant looks serviceable.
  12. That’s probably true (though I’d be surprised if he gets a straight third year) but also not so high that it’s like, unbelievable.
  13. It’s not so much about upgrading catcher, it was about adding an all star who may still be getting better and not caring as much about position. Great players, ones that are strong both offensively and defensively, paper over a lot. And he was like the one great player I could have seen Sox feasibly adding. I don’t really see another one available. That said, of soxtalk favs now, getting varsho I’d be a big fan of. And re: outman, I think it makes even more sense to get these guys now, but more with seeing if they can be gotten via supplying younger prospects in potential 3 team deals. Rosenthal suggested a rumored cards/dodgers trade for Dylan Carlson, so maybe that would open up an outman (though cements nootbar).
  14. This is off topic but was just watching pitching ninja highlights of Pedro martinezs change up. So many old players do not pass the eye test, but holy hell Pedro will be an immortal. Any era, anywhere he dominates. So fortunate to have been at that game with the tremendous 13 pitch battle between him and Big Frank. One of the highlights of my baseball fandom.
  15. Would be hilarious if the real answer was “we don’t have to, but we are going to to gain favor for some future flexibility”.
  16. And on that note, I’m a big believer in Cespedes defense. Really hope he’s out in the work on pitch selection, I think he’ll be an awesome reserve OF.
