  1. He’s not really more of what we have because he had a mid year and hit 25 home runs which would have been comfortably the team leader for us, and it would have been from the spot that’s produced like 10 home runs in the last 3 years combined.
  2. Many yankee fans weren’t even sure they were going to pick up the option before he got hot in September. Read an article in the pinstripe alley blog they thought he was out
  3. “Fits their system better” let’s bring Nagy back
  4. Did you write this nonsense post and start it off with “what does this mean?”
  5. I’d still, if I was Hahn, go after Gleybar hard.
  6. I love these two posts. @Dick Allen is spot on laying out how first how they are refusing to finish the job after initiating a multi-year rebuild. And second how Reinsdorf teams tend to successfully create the image they operated with their very difficult constraints. A classic was paxson, who limited himself in team building strictly thru draft and adding free agents with salary cap space and was constantly saying well who else could we have gotten with those very specific routes? And then you pair that with @Eminor3rdsummarizing the Jays offseason in which they were unsatisfied with their first round exits after years long rebuilds, saw their right handedness and poor defense as a culprit and did a huge renovation of their outfield and added pitching. The $$ added is less, though obviously prospect capital out was much more. The Sox did also address their handedness and defense, going from a LF that was very below avg to avg and improving on a bizarrely bad year from AJ pollock. The blue jays took a bad defense and made it one of the best in the league. They added one of the best starters available and added pitching depth.
  7. Paddy has struggled to fill his classes after the CBA has changed, but is still the highest performing member of Hahns front office so he has no standing to push him
  8. I’ve thought about it mainly because they need playmakers wherever they can get ‘em. I think giants re-sign him though. trenches trenches trenches otherwise.
  9. I thought the bears were guaranteed too 2 now
  10. Oh sorry I saw your post and thought he was coming over at 24
  11. I really just find it unforgivable that the mlb owners saw Ohtani clamoring to come over and said “let’s try and make it harder for the best players in the world to play on our league just in case we have to pay them full price!” Crazy player competitiveness of these guys keeps saying to go for it anyway.
  12. The bengals roster was so built out when they drafted burrow. That they skyrocketed from 1st overall draft position to 5th the next year
  13. Yeah all this. It is a true warts and all position now. I think outfield defense is more vulnerable currently than any offensive gains for a lot of these guys we are discussing. We had a good pitching staff last year because they Kd a lot of batters, but any contact went to the worst defense of my life. Benintendi is just a neutral outfielder, Robert had trended to slightly above average, and colas is reported as average albeit with a dynamite arm. adding our fourth outfielder as just a limited corner guy puts more PT to Leury and Romy. Puts a lot of pressure on Roberts health.
  14. Bryson Stott was handed a starting infield position on the world series phillies. Jeremy Pena handed a starting position on the world series astros. Steven Kwan, starting LF for the Cleveland Guardians. Julio Rodriguez, starting CFer for the Seattle Mariners Josh Lowe for Tampa Rays Andrew Vaughn 2021 White Sox Jake Cronenworth won a spot on the 2020 playoff padres as a 26 year old. Chas McCormick, starting in left field for the 2021 houston astros on opening day. Cristian Javier, starts in the rotation for the 2021 Houston Astros Not that novel. Romy and Sosa also were up last year. So they were given time to work into a role. That would make them similar to players like Sean Murphy, who was up for 20 games in 2019 before being handed the starting role on the 2020 contending As. Will Smith with the dodgers. Luis Garcia got a cup of coffee in 2020 before becoming a starter for the Astros in 2021 Then you have the teams that are relying on a player but holding him down to "let him work his way in" like Kris Bryant on the 2015 cubs.
  15. Oh, it’s possible. Grissom was pretty dynamite last year though. What are Red Sox doing with SS? Is Story moving over?
  16. I’d prefer we get a guy that can swing 2B and OF if we go after depth, or straight up outfield. RF concerns me much more, mainly because I could still see them putting sheets out there
  17. Let me look up every contender of all time for you
  18. Rookies are part of contention windows all the time. The braves season was saved by 3 rookies last year, and now they are turning SS over to one of them.
  19. Boy sure would be nice to have Alex Call right now instead of yonder Alonso’s tenure in 2019
  20. I don’t think dodgers are gonna make a CF splash, but honestly Trayce Thompson would be a great person to hand off to Colas and be our 4th OF.
  21. Not to mention getting rid of the home run statue ?
  22. I don’t even understand if they are rebuilding or competing. As soon as the ownership group decided they weren’t going to spend, they probably should sell this pitching because there is just nothing on the position player side that will prop them up.
  23. I agree. Said before but I’m not big on fishing for offensive solutions from second base. If we stabilize it, I’d prefer it be for a plus defensive player (I’ve mentioned schoop as a cheap acquisition that can be moved on from easily) The good thing with Sosa is so don’t think there is anything bad about him playing AAA this year, but I am very excited for him.
