Where do you play the games though? -
They will not have 30 wins, and it's going to be hard for any team to be 10-12 wins considering how many awful teams there are.

QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 03:41 PM) I don't think I said I would have put in anyone. By no means do I think they were the second best team in the country, but with the way the ranking system is, there's not really an argument other than "eye test" for anyone else. Right, my point is this will always happen in november with an upstart team doing really well who may have a weak November schedule. People are immediately going to start complaining from power conferences as they move down in polls while x team moves up beating some 5-letter acronym team. But obviously, I would have put every other team in championship because we are all out to get Notre Dame. -
I don't think Philly's GM is furious. They'll still be fine and low. It's only 9 games in. Remember...2 years ago? WHen people thought bobcats coach could be coach of year after their hot start? I'm sure they are more than happy to have nailed MCW. It's not like Boston is going according to plan either. They just need to get low enough to be in the race, and then have a bunch get "injuries" in second half.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 04:35 PM) I have a feeling it will be quite a large contract. Gamblers will love a playoff format It would really improve the CFB product. Bowl games I feel like are a crapshoot. Sometimes playmakers start tocheck out with that month to go, thinking about improving draft stock. Coaches move around. But with a playoff format, I can't imagine anyone would take it easy or leave the program if they could have a Shaka Smart type run as a coach. -

QUOTE (HickoryHuskers @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) You don't have a f***ing clue what you're talking about. ND beat Wake Forest 38-0 and pulled most of their starters in the 3rd quarter. Also, ND's schedule matched up with anybody's. Final BCS Rankings: Stanford 6, Oklahoma 11, Michigan 18. blah blah blah blah blah blah. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 04:19 PM) Hopefully that is put in to place very quickly after the 4 team playoff. But I have a feeling they will drag their feet I DO get the logistical difficulties for fans and students. But the TV revenue would have to justify that. How much would NBC sports pay to get rights to that? 2 gazillion? -
QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 02:43 PM) Never would have imagined this at the start of the year, but I was just able to trade Ray Rice for Alshon Jeffery and I'm THRILLED about it Not bad. I'm not sure I could get a future 20th rounder for Ray Rice at this point. At the beginning of the season before I drafted him I was like "He's only 26!? hell yes." Boy he looks 80 years old at this point.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 03:59 PM) ND belonged there according to the rankings etc. Sometimes you just get beaten badly. It could be a team more prepared, more hungry or even more talented. It was a bad matchup and Bama exploited it. We all know why everyone hated ND there. Same reason we are talking about this now. While the other ranked teams are looking at 2-3 more tough games on their schedule, ND was barely beating Wake Forest at home. This will all get take care of when we can move to an 8 team playoff. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 14, 2013 -> 03:39 PM) Not sure about an upswing. They've been here before. Lynch is what Big Ben was at Miami. Good enough to win a good bowl game, but not the BCS IMO. Eh, he's more like Dan LeFavour 2.0, and maybe more like 1.2. Big Ben was throwing for 400 yards in games and looked like a pro. -
I'm feeling pretty good about 76ers now that they only have to go 13-60 rest of the way for me to go to richtown.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 04:23 PM) If you look at the 2012 White Sox, no non regular had as many as 170 plate appearances. It's really not a waste of a roster spot. There are better fits, and Paulie knows this. I'm thinking if he decides to come back, he's feeling well and thinks he can still play at a high level. I don't think he cares to embarrass himself and he has plenty of money. I read an article a few years ago where his dad said he still pulls money out of an ATM $20 at a time. Well, 100's are completely impractical.

Official Recruiting Thread II

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 08:17 PM) I was thinking last night - isn't it better for these top guys NOT to go to Kentucky? I couldn't name you more than 2-3 Kentucky players the last couple of years, and he's had like 8-10 1st rounders. Watching last night I knew of Randle and the Harrison twins, but no on else even though there were more top recruits. At some point doesn't the recruiting pitch have to be why not be a big fish in a small (yet successful and national) pond instead of a small fish in a big pond? Scouts are going to find you no matter where you play. I guess I'd rather be getting the publicity of leading a team as the major star over going to a school with a bunch of other stars. "he's had like 8-10 1st rounders" This should answer your question. This is his pitch right now. -

Felt same about SEC compared to Big 12. The bad teams just mauled you. I do think it's worth it. Sometimes it was just ridiculous. -

QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 04:39 PM) Depends on what your need is. Randle is going to be a banger. Parker is going to be a Rudy Gay type player. Wiggins I think has the biggest upside. He's the most athletic and if he gains another 30 lbs he's going to be Lebron like. I am probably homerish on Parker, but he has potential to be a really good facilitator. He's very Rudy Gay in body type but I think his ceiling is higher with his passing skills. -

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Nov 13, 2013 -> 04:22 PM) Parker was head and shoulders the best player I saw last night. I wouldnt pick anyone other than him as #1 in the NBA draft. Obviously not a controversial opinion here, but I think the Chicago Public League probably better prepared him for an immediate transition. That said, Wiggins recovered, and the season is so early. Man, so annoying that Kansas team. I was confused why they were #5 to start off the year. They are gonna be #1 soon and for a while. Stupid kansas. Meanwhile Mizzou...our defense was better, but still over pursues and leaves themselves susceptible to wide open corner 3s. We play 4 on 5 on offense because our only C is terrible on offense, great rebounder though. I think ceiling is a ten seed, but SEC might be bad enough that we are higher. -
Ha, I forgot how poorly Huntsman did. I feel like even Kucinech found more support.
-
This is annoying. I hate having to be so negative to maybe my favorite white sox ever, but man, please don't come back PK.

QUOTE (pettie4sox @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 08:27 PM) lol yeah... Romney was a real weiner. He was a legitimate candidate that was undercut by his own side. Had he run on his actual credentials he would have been fine, though likely still lost. Instead he basically had to constantly avoid any of his accomplishments and basically run against himself.

QUOTE (Brian @ Nov 11, 2013 -> 05:10 PM) Mizzou better not take the dogs for granted.... If mizzou loses, probably will just be because they aren't very good. -
QUOTE (Vance Law @ Nov 9, 2013 -> 10:29 PM) Interesting article on Gammons website here regarding the drastic increase in power hitting. To me it adds up to Konerko getting an incentive based deal somewhere if he decides he wants to play next year. http://www.gammonsdaily.com/mlb-power-at-t...ly-meet-demand/ Some interesting numbers from the article: "In 2004, nine players hit 40 or more homers, led by Adrian Beltre’s 48, and including Jim Edmonds (42) and Paul Konerko (41). In all, 37 players hit 30 or more homers." "In 2013, two players hit 40 or more homers, Chris Davis (53) and Miguel Cabrera (44). Davis and Cabrera are included in the grand total of 13 players who hit 30 or more." Drastic decrease.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Nov 12, 2013 -> 06:57 PM) How about if that shell of a former self still can outplay Conte and Wright? Honestly, bad as they are, I don't think he could.

I for one would be pumped to add another aging veteran playing like a shell of their former selves.
